Not only was the food fantastic (we had both dinner & breakfast), but also the concierge (Eammon) saved us from driving the Ring of Kerry on a perilous day. Instead he gave us some excellent alternatives along with maps to help us navigate the areas. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

We were a group of 13 staying at the Metropole and we couldn't have been looked after better. Rachel looked after the booking and was so helpful with the planning and admin of it all. From the moment we arrived the staff without exception were so helpful and friendly. Thanks so much to Fabian and Nico who ensured that our evening meal was very special. Lorraine at breakfast was superb and gave us all the tips for making the most of a trip to Cork city..A wonderful experience. The location is perfect for a stay in Cork city but it's the wonderful staff that will ensure my return. Highly recommend.

First, the positives: it’s well located. The entrance is nice and so is the bar.
Then, the negatives: old overall feeling in hallways and rooms, with old stained carpets. No ac in room, old and noisy shower system . Gym was disorganized and smelled bad. Would not come back.

Treated so well by Emily on arrival for a family meal. She was friendly, pleasant and great fun. We were given a complimentary drink as we waited for the bar to open. Anna was so helpful in the dining room. She was lovely. We had a delightful meal and an enjoyable experience . The only complaint was our cold French fries which were replaced.

My sixth time of staying & as always the Metropole doesn’t disappoint. My home when in Cork & somewhere that I always recommend to people when discussing their intended trip. For food, drink & service accept no substitute.

Had a wonderful experience at the Metropole! The piano player was great and so relaxing. Emily was so bright and welcoming- she went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. And Thias was so kind and constantly checking in to see if I needed anything. The atmosphere was great all around, 10/10 experience and will be back

I had a wonderful stay at the Metropole Hotel in Cork. The rooms were spacious and exceptionally clean, providing a very comfortable environment to relax after a day of sightseeing.

Breakfast was a standout feature—fresh, plentiful, and with a great variety to suit all tastes. It was the perfect way to start the day.

What really made my stay memorable was the staff. They were incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready to help with a smile. Their warm hospitality truly enhanced the overall experience.

I went to Metropole Hotel with my husband to celebrate my 65th birthday. The hotel is in an excellent location - just a few minutes walk from the CityLink bus stop and a 10 minute walk to City Centre. The staff are all so friendly, helpful and professional. The lobby is so comfortable. The bedroom was equipped with all we asked for along with a nice surprise for my birthday. I could not fault either our evening meal or breakfast.

Great two night stay in the heart of the city. The Metropole hotel has undergone a massive renovation but has managed to keep it's old world elegance with new world comfort. Each and every member of staff were extremely professional but had a warmth that made you feel relaxed the moment you opened the front door of the hotel.

Going from the bus station to the train station & feeling peckish, I treated myself to cappuccino & pancakes. Thoroughly enjoyed.

The location was convenient but with that came some extra noise from the street. Room was dated and stuffy, even with the radiator turned off. For the price we had higher expectations of comfort and service. It was surprising that nobody helped initially with luggage on arrival and not at all on departure.

Charming romantic hotel in a great area. Buy the breakfast package, it’ll keep you going all day. And stop by the bar at the end of the day. The hotel is in easy walking distance from train and bus stations and is just across the bridge from city center. Just wonderful.

I have NEVER, in all my travels, had such a horrible experience with a hotel. I booked 2 rooms through Capital One Travel and had confirmation from the travel site and the hotel. When I arrived at the hotel at 5 pm on a Thursday, I was told the reservation was canceled. They could not tell me who canceled it and said the hotel was fully booked and there was nothing they could do. We spent an hour calling hotels in Cork City. Nothing available. We finally found a BNB and had to drive 45 minutes into the countryside. I called the hotel later that night to ask them to look into this. They hung up on me. I have emailed them several times to ask for an explanation. NO RESPONSE. Is this how far this hotel has dropped under the "leadership" of the new general manager, Louise McNamara? I suspect that there was some event (and that's why everything was fully booked) and they simply canceled me because I used a third party payer. AND the room was already paid through Capital One and they did not reimburse me until I called Capital One Travel and got them involved. Now, I feel I must contact every hotel I book, even when I have a confirmation. Thanks Metropole to adding yet another task to my never-ending to do list. Unbelievably bad service! It's a shame becaue the hotel lobby and bar seemed just the type of upscale, historic property that I love, but I must say, DO NOT EVER stay at the Metropole Hotel in Cork City, Ireland!!
