The Metropole Hotel

Great location, handy for the main shopping street and situated near a lot of nice restaurants, cafes etc. Every time I stay I seem to get a nicer room each time.

The hotel does show it's age in places (e.g. carpets, decor). But overall, a nice hotel, good service, and the food was excellent.

The hotel is ideally located, just a 10-minute walk from the train station, which makes it extremely convenient both for business and leisure stays. The place is comfortable, well maintained, and offers excellent services throughout the stay. The staff is welcoming, attentive, and always ready to help, which really makes a difference. Overall, a very pleasant experience with great value for money. I would definitely recommend it.

Great central location and priced well. Friendly staff and I was able to check in early which was great.

We visited the hotel with our friends from Germany. We wanted a nice location to chat as we were meeting them for a few hours. We met in the Foyer and had coffee and scones. The food was excellent and the staff were superb. We were welcomed and looked after to a very high standard by all the staff. We subsequently remained and had lunch. The food was superb. Service and follow up was the best. Staff offered to take our group photo before we left. We had a great visit with our International guests and The Metropole staff showed a Cead Mile Failte.

Went for Lunch with family the hotel looked very well carpets and furnishings very nice very pleasant atmosphere food was a typical Lunch menu well.presented what really stood out was staff particularly Emily who couldn't do enough very personal very friendly worth going to for service which was excellent

i got lost trying to find my way to the hotels lobby and found a man with long hair in a pony tail smoking at the back of the hotel in a dirty metropole tshirt he was very rude to me and didn’t help he walked back inside the back of the hotel after exchanging some rude words, i hope the rest of the staff is cleaner and nicer i won’t be back to eat or stay after seeing the state of those employed

The team in the Metropole looked after us so very well, turning what could have been a disappointment into a truly pleasurable stay

Exceptional city hotel, central location, ease of parking. Very friendly and efficient staff. Best breakfast in a while. Very comfortable bed and room was warm, great nights sleep. Bedroom was tight [I'm big!] but everything else about the hotel puts that in the shadow. Ideally located in the heart of Cork City.

It’s very good I was here for a day trip for a panto near by had a nice coffee and a burger the toilets are lovely too very good and lovey staff too

Stayed over Christmas for a night out with friends.

Love the location. My room was fine - clean, a bit tired but did the job.

Lift is a bit of a bottle neck - only one. Also, the recommended car park on St Patrick’s Quay is incredibly tight - if you’re not a confident driver I do not recommend it.

Fantastic staff , great location and a beautiful, historic hotel. The service provided was exceptional at all times. I would gladly return.

A true high end gem in the city now! Got such a warm welcome from Eamonn and Emily. Art work exquisite in Reception Foyer. Lovely ambience and decor. 2026 will be a wonderful year for this Hotel as they continue to upgrade.

Room and location excellent and the hotel was Very clean. Only downside was that the Bathroom was a bit tight, but this would not put me off staying here again.
Overall the hotel is beautiful. Anthea on reception was lovely and Loraine at breakfast so friendly, and gave us some history of the hotel, which was very interesting.
I would highly recommend the Metropole hotel.

The bar and staff were warm and welcoming, as was the night porter. The rooms are basic, clean and comfortable.
The breakfast room was surprisingly spacious, with a classic but contemporary furnishing. The coffee was great. I didn't feel like breakfast but it's cooked to order, which is usually best.

Great location, convenient reasonably priced parking, friendly & professional staff. Really nice atmosphere for Christmas. Some areas of the accommodation could do with a revamp but overall a pleasant stay.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were treated like royalty. Louise the manager was so generous with her time, recommendations, and kindness throughout our stay. All the staff were so happy and friendly, from the gentleman greeting us at the door to the lady in the breakfast room the following day. My wife and I were so happy with our choice of destination for our Christmas trip. All the staff made it all the more enjoyable. Big kudos to the management and staff for running such a joyful and Friendly Hotel. I would highly recommend a stay in the Metropole Hotel. You will not be disappointed ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Stayed in Metropole Hotel on Saturday 13th December 2025 and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. A special thank you to Eamon the Manager on duty he went above and beyond to show us the correct route to Pairc Ui Chaoimh to walk us down the street and point us the correct direction. Sean from bar/catering staff member who was extremely attentive with our food and drinks order. The Reception staff were friendly and efficient. The bed were very comfortable and the bedroom had some extra small touches to the room like heated hand rail towel, digital clock that charges your phone, loads of hangers in wardrobe. The breakfast the following morning had so much variety and everything was fresh and hot. Excellent location in the heart of cork city with plenty of great restaurants and pubs within a stones throw distance. Staff were very friendly, chatty and helpful and there was a very cosy Christmas vibe around.
Room was spacious, clean and comfortable.
While the hotel is located in the centre of the city, we were not disturbed by any street noise and had a great night sleep.
The only reason the hotel the hotel did not get the five stars for me was the parking issue, The sign for the car park which no longer says its the metropole hotel car park said it was full and we were only told at checking in (and after parking the car at a nearby carpark for the night) that spaces are kept for guests.
