Stunning Views and Spacious Comfort, but Pricey Dining
Pros:

We stayed at Nutfield Priory Hotel & Spa near Redhill and had a suite with the most beautiful view. The outlook from the room — and especially at breakfast — was incredible. In the morning, the mist and low cloud made it feel as though you were floating above the landscape.

The suite was large, spacious, and comfortable, with a good overall standard.

Food and drinks in the bar are very expensive, and the quality probably didn’t fully justify the pricing.

The spa facilities are good, though it’s worth noting that the spa is separate from the main hotel and requires walking outside, which may be inconvenient depending on the weather. I had a massage, which was very good.

Overall, a lovely stay for the views and setting, ideal for a relaxing break, though the high food and drink prices are something to factor in.

Awesome Xmas at Nutfield priory : fabulous people.
Pros:

What a brilliant time we had at Nutfield priory. A gothic priory originally dating back to the 13C however it is not the official priory which is in redhill but was once a very grand estate, much of the land was sold off to pay death duties. Arrived for the 2 day festive Xmas package and entered our room to find our own Xmas tree and xmas present with treats. Wonderful. Arrived Xmas eve lunchtime to a wonderful relaxing massage in preparation for the next two days. Christmas Eve afternoon with tea and plenty of scones, cream and jam. Evening started with canapés and plenty of champagne along with a good ol’ sing song of carols with the local choir. This was followed by a multi-course dinner. The venison was superbly cooked and the cut was exquisitely tender. Along with a wine flight throughout the meal. Super service and very friendly helpful staff. Bed after 11pm. Xmas day , the morning saw father Xmas working his magic around the hotel going from room to room where the children were. Fabulous Mimosa champagne breakfast nothing was too difficult. Short rest before our 5 course lunch which lasted from 12:30 to 4:30 no rush delicious XMAS lunch. Time to recover before having a grand evening buffet and a few Xmas drinks to finish by midnight! Arise Boxing Day for another wonderful breakfast. We want to say a big thank you to all the staff that served us. It was they that made Xmas, full of smiles , cheer, cheekiness, wit served with professionalism. Mustn’t forget the team in the kitchen who were relentlessly on top of their game to keep everyone happy and served. So big thanks , as they need a mention to ……Elisa, Maria, Zoltan, Alfie ( whom our friend had a special fondness for !) , Norbert, Andrea, Audrey with her fabulous posh Californian Yorkshire accent ( the happy grinch :) ) , Lauren with her great smiley Mancunian accent George, Stremi, Alek, Jose, Kellie, Anke and Abdul chief elf, great host with an awesome team. We were even taught a bit of Hungarian in the bar, she was great. And of course to everyone else I haven’t mentioned who made it a great for us all. Thank you Nutfield for a fab Xmas. We hope they all have a great Xmas

Sublime Staff
Pros:

I would like to take this opportunity to name and thank two exceptional members of your restaurant staff, Alfie and his manager, Abdul. From the moment I arrived to meet my friends, I felt welcomed and attended to. Nothing was too much trouble and they were extremely professional. Thanks to their effort, I will be returning asap. A truly special evening ☺️

Excellent experience and will be back!
Pros:

We had a birthday afternoon tea with champagne today served in the Cloisters and it was lovely! The venue is beautiful, the sandwiches, scones and pastry were excellent and all the staff were super friendly, especially Alfie who looked after us exceptionally well! I had never been before, but will definitely be back. It beats an afternoon tea in a posh London hotel!

Stunning property, with beautiful views and the best staff!
Pros:

Staff were amazing, the restaurant manager, Alfie and Caroline in the restaurant, stand out. But I have to say all the staff in every department couldn’t do enough. The property is amazing with amazing views across a beautiful valley. I had an exceptional breakfast two days running and Sunday lunch all of which were delicious and incredible value. The portions were superb and I was very full after every meal!

I was in the Elliot suite which was amazing with lovely extra touches such as a stocked mini bar and hostess trolley with cocktails and all the equipment to make more! The bed was so comfortable and as I said before the views were amazing!

I stay in lots of high end hotels and this is right up there with the best in my opinion, I will be back!

A hotel to remember
Pros:

I stay in many hotels with work, I have to say The Nutfield Priory spa and hotel beats them all hands down. Firstly, it’s situated in surreys glorious countryside, with expansive views. The hotel is full of charm and character, with an open roaring fire, wonderful double high gothic ceiling and rooms to relax and enjoy the view from the library or restaurant. The main element which gives this hotel the edge on others is the wonderful staff. They are attentive without being pushy, friendly in a very natural and authentic manner.

I would highly recommend a stay here, it will not let you down!

Lovely staff, good food and impressive surroundings
Pros:

The building is very grand, with lots of history, atmosphere and a spectacular view from the terrace. The food was excellent, breakfast was one of the best we've had and dinner in the cloisters was also very good. The grounds were okay, we walked around the re-wilding area and though pleasant, there wasn't much of interest. Given the space, it had a lot of potential and could be made into a beautiful garden.

The staff were uniformly excellent, being friendly and helpful especially Graham at reception and Alek at the bar and restaurant. As a hotel guest, we had access to the spa, gym and swimming pool, all of which were very well maintained and equipped. The gym in particular had plenty of running, rowing and weight machines. The room and bed was comfortable, clean and nicely done. All in all we had a very relaxing and pleasant stay.

A wonderful place to stay.
Pros:

We arrived in an emergency and without a reservation, and Jamie and the team at Nutfield Priory took care of us wonderfully. A beautiful, spotless room, delicious breakfast and friendly, professional staff made us looked after and lifted our stresses. Our stay was a joy from beginning to end.

Great place, mediocre food.
Pros:

We visited for a champagne afternoon tea to celebrate our wedding anniversary and whilst the hotel was beautiful and the staff were very attentive, the actual food offering was mediocre.

The finger sandwiches maybe traditional but in 2025 with our culinary advances, they really should do better. Dry bread and just a sliver of filling. The rest of the savoury course consisted of 2 mini picnic pork pies, described as with pickle, which they weren't and 2 tiny vol-au-vents, both obviously acquired from the local supermarket rather that made in-house. Scones were not bad, but the cakes were pretty average. A previous reviewer last month said the same and the general manager said he would have a word with the chef. Clearly this did not happen or the chef chose to ignore.

I always rate a restaurant review on whether the food offering is better than I could do myself at home as a minimum. I'm afraid on this occasion, the food failed to meet this criteria.

Severe breach of duty of care with facials and client care
Pros:

I have been coming to Nutfield Priory for spa treatments including facials for 4 years. I had also been delighted with the excellent treatments provided and the care and consideration displayed towards the client. What I experienced yesterday no one should have to experience and is severely wrong. I have very sensitive skin and the spa make you complete a form stating your skin concerns. I expressed I have very sensitive skin on the form and also reiterated this to the therapist completing my facial , I believe her name was Caroline although I'm not 100% sure. I definately had not seen her before. She kept applying certain products. Products I have had for facials at Nutfield on numerous occasions and have also had at home and used with no issues before. So, these were not the offending articles. She pursisted to wipe my face with a rough flannel agressively everytime she removed the product. This is not the sort of treatment I would expect in any spa of a respectable quality , nevermind on something who has very sensitive skin.

It was feeling as you can imagine very sore from this harsh abrasion of the skin from hard rubbing of the skin. But then she put an acidic toner on cotton wool pads and placed them onto my eyelids. My eyes were burning. I said that is stinging and she removed the pads but didnt removed the product that had caused the stinging on my eyelids. She then used a scrub which ordinary is fine I used scrubs on my face all the time, but alongside the harsh previous abrasion of the skin from constant harsh rubbing with a flannel , this then caused my face , as an individual with sensitive skin to have my skin barrier completely broken, so much so that any product she placed or was placed on my face would sting. She then put the same toner she put on my eyelids on my face again. I said again that is stinging and she said would you like me to remove it, which I did but I knew she would rub my face aggresively and at this point this was the last thing I needed. So I did yes but can you remove it gently. This is laughable as never should you say to a ' trained ' therapist to do something gently and not agressively , in relation to a decilate area such as the face , espesially since she knew I has sensitive skin and decided to bypass this. Even though she knew my face was stinging and I said to remove the products , she then a few moments later applied more products without even asking if i wanted that or if my face was still stinging . The stinging sensation was unbearable at this point and i had to ask her to remove it.

Then I was explaining to her that my face is sore and stinging as she had rubbed it so hard and if i rubbed my face like that with a flannel at home it would be the same. She gave a serious of deflective comments none of which were true: its the products, not products have used several times no problem, its the serious of products at once again at home and in different spas used several products no problem, its the hot flannels , its not i used them at home , no problem. The list was pathetic and laughable and was used by her to admit any wrong doing which she was evidently culpable for. I also remarked how i was suprised this was a facial for sensitive skin and how i was in disbelief. Its disgusting how she did not care that my face was stininging and still continued without asking me if i had stopped stinging . Its also appauling how she said comments like oh maybe you should have another type of facial , which is ridiciolous as i had had the same facial there numberous times , with no problem. The problem was she didnt adapt the facial to my skin requirements and that is disgusting.

Additionally the spa make you complete a secondary form if you have are receiving medical treatment , or medications. My mum asked at the reception for this form and Erin replied oh what is it ? Now this is ridicolous on multiple accounts as they require this second form to be completed, if they dont want it completed why ask for it to be completed. Second of all peoples medical issues are highly sensitive and personal to expect someone to blurt out i have cancer for example , in a public reception is beyond inhumane .

Also the resturant staff are beyond pathetic - there is one woman in there which would be sufficient as the spa restaurant is very quiet and me and my mum were the only ones in there. Think again, she dropped the afternoon tea tray which i can understand mistakes can happen as i work in hostpitality, We had a delay of 30 mins as a result , which luckily we did not have a treatment straight after as this would have caused a problem , The the scones were cold and were missing a cake. This seemed a massive inconvenience to her ( we are still the only ones in there ) she did reheat the scones but there was no sign of the cake. Also , she is almost hiding as she came in briefly and was leaving swiftly when we asked about the missing cake. Oh i forgot , have you got a treatment soon, do you want to get that boxed up. This response cant help but make me think she didnt want to do it. But i did want to cake , and that shouldnt have seemed a massive cake since we had paid for it! Also it was not our fault she dropped the other tray of afteroon tea , so why should we receive a reduced standard because of her own incompetence and apathy.

As you can see there are numerous severe and fundamental problems across the spa staff, hospitaltilty , reception, more senior positons , Erin and the spa therapists themselves . Please do not go here as the problem is ingrained and they have let all standards go. ( might i add this was in the booking for a birthday spa day , although was not my actual birthday , luckily , I think this just goes to show this is their baselevel negligent standard )

Depressing
Pros:

Depressing place, shabby interiors in need of brightening; the ubiquitous and dated purple and grey colour scheme… and as for the food, our sandwiches were about the worst ever. Two slices of cheap bloomer bread with a couple of slices of cheese inside does not a great sandwich make. Just awful — and £16 each! And be warned, “The spa” is an unattractive purpose built block in the car park.

Relaxing and grounding - I left feeling lighter and calmer
Pros:

What started as a girls’ night of pampering turned into me dragging Mr Finn along (and I do mean dragging). Funny how life works, because it ended up being just what we needed. He skipped the massage, his loss! so naturally, I had two treatments instead.
Georgina in the spa was amazing. She instantly put me at ease, no nerves or judgement, just calm and caring. Add in the quality Elemis products and I floated out of the room.
The hotel itself blends countryside charm with a touch of luxury. My room was standard, overlooking the car park, but had everything I needed- big comfy bed, gowns, slippers, coffee, water. If you can, go for a room with Surrey Hills views.
Breakfast was a standout: pastries, fruit, full English, eggs Benedict, smashed avo, smoked salmon — a lot to choose from. Kelly, who’s been there over 20 years, made it extra special with her warmth and stories.
I also loved the library - a quiet, beautiful space looking out over the grounds and Priory Farm, which was buzzing with pumpkin season preparations. The farm shop nearby is worth a stop.
My review - Nutfield Priory is one of those places that slows time. Relaxing and grounding - I left feeling lighter and calmer and Mr Finn had the best time too.

Mediocre afternoon tea
Pros:

Beautiful country hotel with spectacular views over Surrey Hills. We were there for champagne afternoon tea and unfortunately this was very mediocre. The sandwiches were mean with very little filling, the mini pork pie and vol au vent were stale, and the cakes weren’t particularly special. The only saving grace was the the scones with cream and jam which were fine. The tea was stewed and got cold very quickly. The champagne was also acceptable
This afternoon was a gift and I know was relatively expensive so the general standard of food was not what we expected. Shame

Lovely Old School Feel
Pros:

We only stayed for a one night get away. The hotel is situated in lovely grounds, the view from our room was stunning. We had the Byron room located in a tower the room was fine, the bed was very comfortable, only downside is you cannot open the windows in the bedroom. We had dinner in the restaurant, food was decent and the service was good. Breakfast was OK but not anything special overcooked somewhat. We didn’t use any of the spa facilities. For us it was a good relaxing stay and we will most likely return in the future

Pros:

Front desk staff not as friendly and proficient but the Bartender made up for it. I arrived about 10min before check in as was told to wait in bar. Other guest began to arrive so I went back to check in Front desk clerk checked in several reservations and when I made sure she could see im still waiting she said they're getting my room ready. Which was way at the end with no good view as requested. T.V. never had clear image as if they have poor satellite service. But of course we were there to enjoy the BEST COUPLES massage ! The pool area was very busy no one figured out how to turn on hot tub until I arrive and the bubbles were a bit weak and just warm.
