This is was our first time staying at Oceana and it was nothing short of dreamy. The rooms were beautiful, spacious whilst maintaining a cosy feeling. It feels like a home away from home. The pool is heated and the day beds are perfect for lounging. Overall the staff were great. We had exceptional service from Lenny who was friendly and warm and made us feel welcome throughout our stay. I’d highly recommend booking here. We will definitely be back the next time we’re in Santa Monica!

Our room was large, beautifully designed and super comfortable. Lovely breakfast in front of the pool - very yummy. The ocean view lounge on the 3rd floor was perfect in the evening. And the location is second to none. We will be back! Favorite hotel in LA.

Had a great experience. The rooms are beautiful. I found Antoine at the front desk very welcoming and down earth —no snottiness. As always, I would prefer self parking, but the valet was top-notch. Would definitely stay again This was a quality Hilton diamond experience! Bravo!
I’ve been to Oceana twice and each time was an exceptional experience. Antuine and Erick were so nice, they upgraded us to a suite with a view which made all the difference. I also appreciate the beautiful ambient lighting in each room, the bathrooms have this gorgeous light blue ocean feel that only elicits peaceful and happy emotions. The layout of the rooms were done well. A few things I appreciate are the fixtures in the bathroom, they hang very low that the lighting at the bottom gives your face a glow when you’re looking in the mirror. The warm recessed lighting throughout was mindfully and perfectly planned, you’re never standing under harsh lighting. They have a number of restaurant options attached to the hotel. Although my husband and I were here for business it is such a nice place to vacation. It’s fairly close to palisades and downtown. I would highly recommend.

Lenny Perlmutter is truly the reason our stay at Oceana was so unforgettable. We arrived exhausted, jet lagged, fussy, and honestly not at our best — and from the very first moment, Lenny completely turned everything around for us. He made us feel genuinely at home in a way that’s incredibly rare, especially while traveling with family.
What stood out most wasn’t just his kindness and professionalism, but how much heart he put into every interaction. In just a few short conversations, he taught us so much, shared incredible insight, and somehow managed to make every moment feel personal and welcoming. You can tell he genuinely cares about people and loves what he does.
Oceana is already a beautiful property, but Lenny elevated the entire experience from beginning to end. From the moment we checked in to literally the last second before we left, he made us feel valued, comfortable, and taken care of. Employees like him are the reason people come back and recommend places to others.

I have stayed at this hotel 4 times in the last three years, most recently May 2026. It is my default location for business trips to LA. Consistent with other 5 star reviews, I love this little hotel. It has a very un-hotel feeling to it. On my most recent stay, my room was essentially a 1 Bedroom apartment (separate bedroom, living room and kitchen)---very spacious by any measure. It did not feel like a hotel room and it opened right on to the pool deck (most rooms open up facing the pool I believe). So it feels very intimate and cloistered. The staff is consistently exceptional and attentive; the gym was small but up-to-date with top quality equipment and it has everything you need; the location is excellent (but only if you like being steps from the ocean). I did not eat at the new upscale restaurant...so no comment on that. The facilities were exceptionally well maintained and the rooms were up to date. The main restaurant for lunch and breakfast is always consistently very good, albeit a tad overpriced. While this is not a value hotel (I would expect that rooms are rarely less than $500/nt), if you are going to spend $500+ for a room, this is an excellent value compared to the other hotels in this category in the area (i.e. Casa Del Mar, Shutters, Proper, etc.).
Oceana Santa Monica was a great choice for our stay, and I’d come back without hesitation.
We chose this place specifically for the room size — had a family member visiting and didn’t want to split up across two rooms. It worked out perfectly, and the space felt right for the occasion.
Food prices are on the higher end, but that’s just the territory with a property like this. No surprises there.
What really stood out was the service. Because it’s a smaller hotel, everything felt much more attentive and personal. Text message requests got answered fast — no waiting around. Kezai, Erick, and Sierra were all fantastic and super responsive. Kezai in particular was memorable… let’s just say unforgettable eyes, lol. You’ll know when you meet them.
Also have to give a shoutout to Lenny, the Bell Captain. Car was pulled up immediately, luggage was handled without a hitch — the kind of seamless experience that makes a stay feel effortless.
Beds were comfortable too - slept great. We are now looking into replacing our bed sheets with Frette sheets.

The visit to the hotel was great. Entire staff were fabulous including Aaron, Lenny, Joshua, and Antoine. I wish I could have remembered everyone’s name. Looking forward to a return visit.

I had high hopes for Oceana after various tools gave it as a more chill version of the Proper. Well, it is no Proper hotel. This is a refaced motel of some sort, a little hard to tell. The rooms are nice although they are still operating in the 1990s in terms of accessible outlets, lots of furniture everywhere but no desk area. Lighting in the bathroom is stylish and insufficient at the mirror. We were upgraded to a suite that had a pullout couch and that was great. Rooms facing the ocean have a pleasant if not grand view.
The in house french restaurant (as of this writing in April 2026) had excellent mains, really excellent preparation. The starters were good. The menu prices were outrageous in the context of a meh environment and weak service. The wine list is highway robbery for predictable labels with the least expensive options starting near $200.
Breakfast -- the setup here is what prompts me to write a review. Breakfast is a small buffet with predictable options set out, nothing surprising, nothing wow. $50/person plus drinks ($12 for orange juice). This is in an old room converted to have some tables in it or outside by the pool. Kids were, as I recall $29 (plus $12 for orange juice). Plus taxes & plus built in service as well as a tip line on the bill just waiting for you to add a tip on top of the big built in tip. Oh, and as is some popular now, there is a 5% health charge in addition to the service charge; the folks went out of their way to say we could have that removed -- it is just something the hotel adds, it is not an actual required fee.
We went as Hilton Gold and Amex Fine Hotels. Hilton gives a $50 daily food credit and amex $100 daily so this offset the breakfast charge mostly for us, 1 adult and 2 kids with a coffee & 2 orange juices, bill with tax and service = $178.45 (minus the $150 in credits).
There is a $50/day resort fee so I really think that offsets the $50 breakfast credit, they give it and they take it in one breath. And if you don't eat breakfast, you don't get the credit but you still get the $50 charge so you are behind ....
My basic room was booked at $842, total charges for room including fees and taxes ends up at $1040. Then the breakfast billing described above.
The hotel is fine but not grand. Front desk service is very nice. The Hilton electornic key on your phone doesn't work in the elevator so you need your key regardless. Location wise this is in a fairly quiet end of Ocean Ave - which is great and you can still walk to the core of Santa Monica in ~15 minutes.
I don't think this is a $1,000/night room. Maybe I'm jaded and that is just what basic hotels cost these days -- inflation is the topic de jure and here the nickel and diming has gotten out of control. For my money I think there are better choices in the area. There rooms sleep just as well and they are more interesting.
I had an amazing experience, mostly due to the amazing service the staff offered!! They were incredible. One of the highlights of my stay was when I was getting in the uber on my last day to go to the airport, Lenny Permutter went above and beyond to escort me and carry my luggage to the car, and offered water and coffee to me. He then helped run to get an outstanding cup of coffee to me extremely quickly, making my depart from the hotel and amazing experience.

Even though my couple trip took an unexpected turn, I had an absolutely marvelous time at Oceana. Thank you so much to Laura and Eron - they were very accommodating and made sure the experience was superb from start to finish.
Just over the course one night stay I was able to try several fantastic meals at the property, including the restaurant La Monique - this was truly the best risotto I tried in years.
Next morning started with a refreshing yoga class - kudos to the instructor to make it doable while challenging for someone who’s never done yoga before. Beautiful pool! Spent most of the day next to it after taking advantage of the hotel bike rental. I was honestly amazed by how many amenities a relatively small property like Oceana was able to provide.
Cherry on top is property’s convenient location with stunning ocean views.
Can’t wait to be back!
