Almost a Five Star Experience
Pros:

The property was beautiful and well located, and most of the staff were helpful and friendly. Our room was lovely with plenty of space for a comfortable experience. The bathroom was surprisingly sparse and underwhelming with the 1970's bathtub/shower combo and cheap plastic curtain. What a contrast to the nice room. Our first introduction to Oceana Santa Monica was an email from a Front Desk Agent asking if we needed help prior to our stay. When my wife and I stay at an LXR, Waldorf or Conrad property, I usually ask for help with reservations, activities, etc, which makes for a smooth holiday. Unfortunately, this person was not helpful (training issue?). He told me I should make my own reservations and then ghosted me when I followed up with other requests for help. Not a great first impression. Other than the couple of issues, our Oceana Santa Monica experience was fine, and we would go back (we just won't rely on anyone for help before our stay!).

Puzzling service lapses for an otherwise luxurious stay
Pros:

We had a nice two-night stay at this luxurious hotel. It started rough, but improved. We were welcomed very warmly even as we arrived much before normal checkin time, and the bellman accompanied us to our room, which we were repeatedly assured was an upgrade. The room, a lanai suite, was very large and lovely, but as we walked in I was struck by a musty smell. The bellman showed us various features of the room, including a tablet to control temperature and lighting. The tablet did not work. When I lifted the living room phone to call the front desk, it did not work either. After notifying the front desk about the smell, the bellman was instructed to show us another room, but that room had a weird layout and we did not prefer it. My husband thought that after the air conditioning was run for a while, the musty smell would go away so we did not persist in our complaint. We switched on the AC and went out till the evening. When we returned, nothing had been done to repair the tablet or the phone and the musty smell was worse than ever. It seemed that the AC was not functioning either. We were beside ourselves with frustration.

My husband called the front desk and did not get a satisfying response. In the morning, he got a generic email from the manager asking about our stay and replied very irately. Finally he got a call from the manager, who offered us a meal in the restaurant to help compensate for the inconveniences. We took him up on this, went out for the day with family and when we returned everything was fixed. We were so glad, but didn’t understand why it wasn’t fixed the first day.

Aside from the service lapses, this is a very pleasant place to stay. The area around the pool is particularly beautiful, though it was a bit cold to swim in while we were there. The restaurant is rather expensive but pretty much in line with the neighborhood and the food was good. There is also a lovely terrace where you can sit and watch the sunset in the event that your room doesn’t face the sea (as ours did not).

Incredible service, ambience, and location!
Pros:

From the moment you walk in, you were greeted with warm hospitality and authentic care, always feeling like you are out of five star hotel. Surifel was our first interaction and it was stellar. He continued to make sure we knew that he was happy to accommodate anything we needed throughout our time. Lenny was also outstanding! My husband and I were looking for a place to watch the Super Bowl to see our Seahawks win, and their recommendations were on point. The complementary bikes were awesome and I must do! We rode all the way down to Venice Beach, had some lunch and rode back. The vibes are always on point! Highly recommend staying here for a quick getaway, business trip or just some me time.

Liking LXR
Pros:

Nice hotel - would recommend it. Good location along ocean Avenue in Santa Monica. The room, number 123, was large and had an area with a table and a sofa. All very spacious. Pool looked very Californian in the courtyard. Breakfast was very tasty but, heads up, not inexpensive – think $30 for an oatmeal. Everyone we ran into was friendly and helpful. A particular shout out to Surafel and Erick.

Another Wonderful Return to Oceana
Pros:

We got the chance to revisit Oceana for a two-night birthday stay. Our stay was just as wonderful as past stays. Through the concierge, I had requested an ocean view room for my birthday and they came through, which was such a treat! They also left a lovely note and some chocolates in the room before check in. Service was, as always splendid. We were able to eat at La Monique one of the nights and we had a lovely meal. As with all the food on property, it is extraordinarily expensive (two people was $425) but also exceptional in quality and presentation; we especially loved the "high-class Panera" French onion soup. Note that you can't charge La Monique to the room (or use F&B credits there) which is a bit of a bummer. Breakfast on the terrace each morning was so peaceful and perfect, lovely way to start the day. And I'm happy to report that since our last visit, the lounge chairs at the pool have been refreshed and were looking pristine once again. Overall, this remains my favorite hotel in the world and I look forward to returning in the future. Thanks again Oceana team!

Truly a luxury experience
Pros:

My wife and I stayed at the Oceana Santa Monica, a Hilton property, using my Diamond member reward. We truly enjoyed our stay—the location was excellent, with restaurants just a short walk away. We stayed in a Lanai suite and were blown away with how nice it was. The staff went above and beyond to ensure everything met their high standards, which made our experience even more memorable. We will certainly come back!!

The perfect getaway

Oceana is a great homebase to explore Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades, Venice Beach and Malibu .
La Monique exceeded all expectations. The design, service and food were exceptional.

Oceana- 5 Stars All Around
Pros:

This is easily my favorite hotel in the United States, and I travel every week. The service was incredible from start to finish, and Lenny was absolutely amazing. He made everything easy, welcoming, and honestly just better — the kind of person who makes you want to come back. The food was outstanding, the rooms were beautiful and comfortable, and the overall vibe of the hotel just made me happy. It’s one of those places where you instantly relax and don’t want to leave.
Beds and linens were super lush and I slept like a baby.
Can’t recommend Oceana enough. We’ll definitely be back.

The perfect spot in Santa Monica
Pros:

This hotel is completely worth it. The location is perfect and quiet on the very edge of Santa Monica, but everything is a quick walk from the Hotel. The room was amazing, super clean and maintained. The amenities were top notch. The pool is heated and the gym was amazing. The hotel staff was the friendliest I have ever experienced. They remembered us every time we walked in and were super accommodating for the few extras we needed. Devan was also amazing at helping us with our bags and making sure we were able to get where we needed to go! We will definitely be back out next time to LA!

Good enough but not a luxury hotel
Pros:

Stayed at the Oceana for 3 nights. The hotel is in a great location, walking distance from Santa Monica Pier. The valet staff is fabulous. Other than that, my partner and I found the whole experience to be mediocre at best. The in-room dining food was absolutely horrible. We had been upgraded from a Seaside Oceanfront Suite to a Signature Oceanfront Suite, and it was comfortable enough but not worth the rates (for the previous four nights we had been at the Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel, which was exceptional and comparably priced). The in-room technology was glitchy, the lights flickered, some of the furniture was broken, lampshades were loose and crooked and couldn't be fixed, bar and coffee station hadn't been prepared for our stay from prior guests, during our stay housekeeping forgot to refresh the coffee and minibar. Overall I'd say we definitely will not be back, and I think we will stick with Marriott properties from now on.

All-around Excellence

As part of an extended business trip to Southern California, we spent a Sunday evening at the Oceana in Santa Monica. It was our first time at the hotel. We hope that we will return again soon.

The entire staff was helpful before, during and after our stay. Before we arrived, the team communicated with us. They helped me with an overnight order and they even helped us arrange morning yoga at the property.

During the stay, everyone was exceptional. I am sorry that I am not leaving more names. The valet and front desk were exceptional. The restaurant staff were great. Even housekeeping went above and beyond.

Nestor, Julian and Angie were some of the memorable staff. People stepped up and helped each other.

Oh, and the property and the rooms were exceptional. It's not cheap, but it was worth it for a special night.

One more compliment- after we left, I ordered something that I meant to send home. I forgot to change the date and the package was sent to the hotel. The front desk supervisor Laura N called us, and then arranged the return for us. Even notifying us was helpful, because I needed the supplies that weekend, but going beyond was appreciated by me and my partner.
