It was ok, i wouldn’t book again.
Pros:

Hotel itself and grounds were beautiful, the bed was sooo comfortable.

Cons:

The receptionist forgot to give the room key to begin with, The room was mediocre, the shower took 5 minutes to warm up and was like a trickle no pressure at all. There was a strange smell in the room a little like stagnant water . The room was freezing because the sash window had a huge crack in it.

Pros:

It was lovely. Our room was gorgeous with a beautiful view. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were patient and accommodating even when they were really busy getting things ready for a wedding on the Saturday. The hotel was a lovely place to come back to after a busy day.

Cons:

There was a smell in our rooms. Not sure if it was drains?

Makeney Hall Afternoon Tea
Pros:

Had an excellent time having Afternoon Tea at Makeney Hall. It was ecerythingvI could think of and more and the delicious treats did not disappoint. Every little detail was thought of. Made it in to a very special afternoon, surrounded by beautiful scenery seen through arched windows in the dining area. Staff were so welcoming, providing excellent service. We did not want for anything. Thank you all for making it so memorable and special.

Major works needed on the courtyard rooms
Pros:

All the staff we dealt with were lovely, helpful and polite

Cons:

Courtyard room, the rooms are looking very shabby, the bathrooms have repairs to the tub, cracks around the sink and both plug holes, no blind in the window in the bathroom which is directly over the courtyard path. paintwork cracked, chipped and just looks like its ready to be replaced. The dining room was again furnished with old worn out tables and chairs, just a table cloth would improve things. continental breakfast, teas and coffees just looked more like an events table, not a relaxed breakfast in a country manor, not even a tea pot for the table.
Skeleton staff running about trying to cover to many roles, but they were always happy so thank you.
