Loved the history of this place, very quaint, gardens were beautiful and the light breakfast was nice. The room was comfortable and liked the robes. Nicely furnished.
We had 2 rooms, it was hard to find in the dark, staff should walk guests there, as the map was super confusing. One room (suite) smelled very damp the entire time we were there. Parking could be tricky at times.
Charming Inn and accommodations. Stayed in one of the Garden Cottages. Comfortably appointed room with fireplace and private patio. Grounds lovely and inviting. Guest Services helpful and welcoming. On site parking provided. And downtown Santa Barbara with great restaurants, art museum, parks, shopping, all within walking distance.
It was right across the street from my son’s residence! It was clean & very comfortable.
Initially, I felt this hotel had barely a passable rating for a 3-star “boutique” hotel. That is, until they *threw away* a gift I had accidentally left on the hotel lobby counter within 24-hours of leaving it. I’m so stunned that they’d throw away a guest’s items before the 3-day weekend even ended, and there was little that the front desk agent apologized for.
I read reviews before booking and there were some hard critiques that made me wonder if they were being too harsh. Afterall, our friend made the suggestion to book this place so how bad could it be?
The non-existent bathroom fan is true and how muggy it makes the bedroom despite having to open the small bathroom window (facing public space) is also true. There’s damp-rid in the closet which did absolutely nothing. The room was uncomfortable to sleep in even with the AC turned on. Mind you, it’s January and outdoor night temperatures were in the 50’s.
We won’t be coming back.
No Breakfast served. Restaurant not open for dinner.
Cleanliness, mold in the shower. A/C not working and it was exceptionally hot in Santa Barbara during our stay. We were not told we were upstairs and had Seniors in the group who had to carry luggage up steep stairs. Overrated for price. Disappointed.
Quaint, friendly , clean, location
Floorboards in room broken
Very comfortable and peaceful
Nightlight in bathroom didn't work.
The property is beautiful and well maintained. Lovely outdoor green spaces and close to shops and dining. I like the layout of cottages that make up the property.
The room was slightly outdated, but the bed was very comfortable.
Walking distance (about 1 mile) from train station to the hotel, along State Street which is a shopping street!
Breakfast pastries were dry.
The property was beautiful and well maintained. The staff was amazing and friendly would definitely go back!
Rooms were dated and heard upstairs guests walking around
Café da manhã surpresa
Localização
Um pouco de cheiro de mofo no quarto no primeiro dia, no segundo dia melhorou
The property is lovely. Very charming and pretty to walk around. It has a nice stone-tiled courtyard with a gazebo and seating area. And they offer a complimentary happy hour in their main building. It was cozy with the fireplace lit and many of the guests came to participate. The on site parking is also convenient and there is no additional charge. I also liked that the rooms are situated in a variety of small buildings and cottages around the property, which makes it feel private and special.
The walls are extremely thin in the room we stayed in - the sound travels easily and was unfortunately quite disruptive. We were in a ground level room in the Hibiscus House. The guests above us were awake in the middle of the night and the sound of their walking and talking was very loud in our room. My friend and I were awake from 4am-7am, when the guests above us finally left. Would have given a higher overall score if not for this one issue. We had bad luck that our neighbor was active so early, but some structural modifications might also help.
Nice. Coffee and pastries were very good.
Rooms need to be updated especially bathroom sink and bedroom rug.
Excellent location and a really charming setting.
The parking lot is very tight.
