Location to town and lake
Awesome tavern decor
Nothing knowing it was an old historic Inn with expected uneven flooring and occasional creaks.
This place is absolutely amazing!!!! I am a true, born in Florida',Floridian. This is my first. Time here. I will definitely be back! Perfect place for a relaxing getaway..
Nothing. Everything was awesome
The view, the location, and the ambiance were spectacular.
I liked everything!
This hotel was opened in 1883. It is on several historic structure lists. The owners have done a great job of maintaining the hotel. The rooms are quite attractive and furnished with some period pieces. The building we were in had the old glass door knobs. The location is great: two blocks from the center of MT Dora on Lake Dora. The only problem is stairs and very small bathrooms. There are no elevators. If you can't handle stairs, request a room on the 1st floor. There are several buildings. Back in it's day the bathrooms were small if they weren't outside. The main building is so charming it's a frequent venue for weddings. There was one while we were there. We had several meals in their restaurants. All were excellent. Breakfast on the Veranda over looking the lake is special.
Great place beautiful excellent accommodation everybody was very professional and super friendly. I truly recommend. it.
Location, beautiful and historic
Great location. Everything was walkable
Hmm...where do I begin?
My family and I have been visiting Lakeside Inn for many years, and we've always enjoyed our stays. Unfortunately, this visit was a completely different experience.
When we returned to our lakefront room last night, we discovered an overwhelming number of bugs. I'm not referring to the mosquitoes that the front desk warns guests about—I understand that's part of being on the lake. There were cockroaches, spiders, and numerous other bugs literally crawling all over the walls and even on the bed. It was completely unacceptable.
Around 10:30 p.m., I went to the front desk, and the two women working that evening were very helpful. They immediately moved us to another room, and I truly appreciated their kindness and professionalism. Unfortunately, after spending over 30 minutes moving all of our belongings, we found a large cockroach crawling across the floor in the new room as well. By then, it was after 11:00 p.m., and the entire ordeal made for a very stressful and sleepless night.
The following morning, when I returned our room keys, the two women at the front desk were far less understanding. After everything we had experienced, a little empathy would have gone a long way.
I also spoke with Alexandra outside the adorable gift shop on the property, which we absolutely love. She suggested I speak with the front desk, but after my earlier interaction, I didn't feel it would accomplish anything. I told her that this used to be one of my favorite places to stay, but after this experience, I no longer feel comfortable returning.
I understand that lakeside properties naturally have insects, but having cockroaches, spiders, and countless bugs inside guest rooms—especially crawling on the walls and beds—is simply unacceptable.
To make matters worse, the male bartender the night before, after we returned from dinner at Pisces Rising (which, by the way, was excellent), was rude and combative. It only added to what had already been a very disappointing stay.
Sadly, because of this experience, I will be looking for an Airbnb on future visits instead of staying at Lakeside Inn, and I can no longer recommend the property to friends and family.
The town itself is wonderful and full of friendly people, but unfortunately, our stay at Lakeside Inn was anything but enjoyable. No guest should have to spend the night in a room where bugs are literally crawling across the walls and beds.
The quaintness
N/A
Lakeside Inn is located in downtown Mount Dora, which has many shops, wonderful restaurants, and areas to walk around within less than a half a mile to see the lighthouse, and nature trails. The pool overlooks Lake Dora with breathtaking sunsets. The room was clean & bed was comfortable. Check-in was easy. Staff were extremely & very helpful. I enjoyed the piano player on a Friday night having my favorite beverage and dinner. Enjoyed having breakfast on a beautiful front porch overlooking Lake Dora.
I was here during a heat advisory, so the pool was warm and wish it would’ve been a little cooler, which was the case the first 2 days of my arrival.
Perfect...great for kids and self contained in Mt dora, allowing walking downtown
Nothing
The lake
The property we stayed need improvement
Location, staff
Stairs, beds were not comfy
Throwback to a gentler time. Good food. Attentive staff. Visually lovely property with beautiful view of the lake. Conveniently located.
--No surface area in bathroom to place toiletries.
--One side of the bed did not have anything to place a glass of water, jewelry etc.
Room smelled of mold. Water in toilet dirty. Pressure of hot water in bathroom terrible. Windows on outside of room view covered with bugs. Went to get coffee in lobby at 7:30 and both containers empty and had to search someone to fill them.
For such a beautiful place, they need to upgrade alot. A refrigerator in the room would be great too. The canopy posts on beds block tv. Whats their purpose when there is no canopy on bed🤷♀️ We couldn't even watch TV without this interference.
We will not be back nor refer anyone here. Sad because its beautiful grounds but needs to update badly.
