Booked a night as attending a party close bye.
On check in, very easy, and I asked to give bank details although I had already paid up front.
Given room on the 1st floor, right at the rear of the hotel, twin room, but afraid next to yard with high security lights, if staying more than one night would of asked to move.
In room, usual things, tea, coffee, tv, ironing board, iron, hangers, 4 pillows, mirror, etc.
Did not use the hotel bar for food, ect, but was very busy even at midnight, maybe the reason of room at the rear.
Beds were a little soft for myself, but did the job shower was excellent and plenty of hot water.
I visited with 3 other people for a meal.
We were all very hungry so we ordered the fish and chips .
The fish was a warm, reheated portion of frozen fish that you can buy from the a supermarket!
There was a smear of mushy pea purée on the plate and about six oven chips on the plate. We paid around £15 so obviously we won’t be returning.
The staff were polite and tried their best .
Went to an 80s night here, due to MS i need a seat, emailed the hotel to ask to reserve a table they refused to do so, my friend tried ringing, there was no answer on 3 attempts and no call back after leaving an answering machine message, luckily on the night there was a security guard who put himself out to find me a table, (andy i think but not too sure) a credit to the hotel.
The disabled toilet was locked away so had to find a member of staff when needed the toilet.
This hotel is not disabled friendly beware.
Horrible experience, room was dirty and dusty, dead bugs in the bathroom, room was cold.
I would not recommend to anyone.
Firstly, the staff at the hotel were polite and courteous.
It was down hill after that.
I have contacted the hotel 3 times in the hope of getting a response, but not even an acknowledgement of receipt or complaint.
We stayed at your hotel on Sunday 9 November, we booked rooms and expected them to reflect the photographs on the website and facebook pages, and to be clean and available from 3pm. (We arrived after 3pm). What we actually had were 2 very unclean rooms, thick dust (days/weeks worth) on surfaces, dirty baths, ripped and extremely worn carpet, a safety issue and in our opinion, disgusting and unacceptable, especially as we had to wait for housekeeping to finished ‘cleaning’ the room, after more than 30 minutes, it wasn’t clean. (See photos)
On top of this we were only given 1xhand towel and 1xbath towel per room, not that we could use the baths, as they were dirty.
Why give us keys to rooms that were dirty and unsafe?
With a child and infant to sort after a long drive, this was very annoying, as the baby needed feeding.
We had no choice but to accept the rooms at the time as we were up visiting family and had to go and see an elderly relative, plus we had a booking in the restaurant, leaving us very little time to get ourselves sorted.
The contrast between your bar/restaurant areas and your rooms is remarkably different, which surprisingly the website does not reflect.
See attached photos below. I have a video showing the dust on walls, but can’t upload it., these photos support our experience with clear evidence of the very poor standard, safety and quality of the rooms.
We had hoped this could have been the hotel we use monthly when visiting elderly family, but it will not be.
3 rooms, for 6 people for two nights. Staff friendly, not apologetic and hotel disappointing.
…towels for one person, both days had to go to reception to ask for more. This was same for all 3 rooms.
….. no coat hangers, had to go to reception to get some. This was same for all 3 rooms.
…. No hooks for wet towels… same for all 3 rooms.
….. no hotel info, menus, check out info. Same for all three rooms.
…..cleaning staff left our window wide open when we went out for day. Room was freezing when we returned late afternoon. It was middle of November!
…..breakfast booking lost…. Had to set our own table up.
….. no pastries available at breakfast….
…..Parking easy and no charge at week end. Yeah!
….shower strong and hot… yeah!
….small issues but big disappointments. . . We are regular visitors to Solihull and won’t be going back toThe Regency.
Was let down by another hotel whilst working in Solihull and remembered staying here a few years ago.
Been refurbed since i was here and is also in the process of further upgrades. I think they said the gym etc is not open till May.
However, the room i had was excellent and was all i needed. The bar area was spot on as well with a separate Sports bar area so good for all.
However, the biggest compliment was to the staff. ALL that I/we encountered were personable, professional, and just very good. Excellent breakfast as well.
If you need a hotel in Solihull, in my opinion, you cant go wrong here. We will be back.
We booked 2 nights as we were attending a family event close by! I rang direct as I needed a room with accessibility as my 86 yr old husband can’t manage stairs and walking any distance! I was assured that wouldn’t be a problem they offered an accessible room with walk in shower! We arrived and struggled to get the car close to the entrance! We got to reception and was told we had been upgraded given a key and headed off to find the room but it was so far away that my husband said he could walk no further! We got back to reception and said we needed a room closer! They put us in Room 104 which was awful and shower unusable! I went to reception told them that we would have to check out the next morning as with my husband’s mobility issues we would have to miss the event and head home! I asked if we would be able to do that without change for the second night! I was assured we would not be charged! We checked out the next morning! Paid £110! We were shocked to find later that month that we had been charged for 2 nights! I called to speak to the manager Mr Windsor told he would call me back this happened twice! I was then told to put my complaint in writing which I did to email address given! No response I chased a week later again Mr Windsor not available told he would call me! Again nothing! I feel very angry as I have been treated very badly! Avoid this place
Well worth the money
Yes
This Hotel is a real dump. The décor inside is a mish-mash, and nothing really matches. I came here to see if I could book a conference for 25-30 people, thinking the Hotel was how I remembered it 25 years ago.
Firstly, the woman at reception asked me who I was here to see. I replied ‘Maria Owens’ ‘What about’ she said. I was going to be sarcastic and say something witty, like ‘Take a guess, ’ after all, I was asking to see someone in the conferencing department.
And then additionally, asking questions like ‘What was I here for, really?
The receptionist told me to wait in the lounge, so I sat there for 14 minutes waiting for the conference manager, and when she arrived, she made no real apology, only to tell me she was held up with another customer. In my opinion, this is unacceptable. What she should have done, as she was running late, was to inform the person at reception that she was running late and at least offer me a coffee as a gesture of goodwill, unless of course they feel that their time is more valuable than mine.
Based upon my first experience of poor customer service from the receptionist and the conference manager, I declined to book anything at the Regency Hotel, even if they were to offer the conference room and all food and beverages for free. I was being polite and had to bite my tongue when they showed me the conference room; it was disgusting. The room was awful, and if I were a hotel inspector, I would give the room two out of ten.
As first impressions count, this for me was a waste of my valuable time. I shouldn’t have had to email the Hotel and try to educate them on the proper protocols of how they should treat new business customers and first impressions. ( I bet that they never shared my email with the management)
I make no apology for this review or its contents. If the Hotel feels offended in any way, then they need to look at the root cause of the staff who, in my opinion, need training on first customer service etiquette.
After a really bad start and 3 attempts I managed to get the room that I had booked.
The room was a newly Renovated room.
Clean neat and very tidy could still smell the new paint.
The staff were very helpful.
I am hoping the manager Nick Windsor will restore my faith in this hotel. So far not a good experience . Charged for a breakfast I did not have. No apology , no reimbursement. Treated appallingly !
Wi-Fi was not working they would not reset. Curtains did not keep out light. Parking at sight expensive and not mentioned on Hotels.com overall poor. Would not stay again
I walked in to hotel to a clean reception, however two stairs have stains on them. The rooms didn’t get any better. The bath had no plug . Toilet roll holder was missing. The room was very run down. I slightly leant on the bed for it to move and I near fell. Bathroom is shocking. Skirting board around bath is peeling and however did the filling needs retraining. Other doors in the corridors were loud upon closing. That woke me up during the night.
The hotel is in need of a desperate makeover.
The staff on reception desk were very friendly.
I only booked due to a have a cheap room as it’s close to the nec. I’ve stayed in other 3 star hotels and they weren’t as bad as this hotel.
Room was clean
Aging infrastructure in the rooms: broken toilet seat, mould on ceiling bathroom, loose carpet... Unmotivated staff. Food in restaurant is below standards.
The staff were very kind and accommodating
The hotel was dirty. It must have been undergoing renovation but it would have been nice to have been informed before my stay. The photos show the corridor leading to my room.
To be fair, the restaurant, food and service was fine
I stayed there for one night and due to all night party and music was so Loud, I could not sleep well. People book hotel to come and relax and have a good night sleep not to listen Loud music and party. Rule should be NO music or party after 10pm or should have sound proof hall so people not disturbed. Awful experience. Will not go there again and won’t recommend to anyone who can not sleep due to noise.
