The staff made it. They were absolutely lovely.
There are limitations which come with the age of the building but overall it’s loveliness makes up for it.
Everything
Everything apart from the exorbitant breakfast price £35 per person is ridiculous it was the same for people who weren’t residents. It made my husband decide never to stay with you again
The food was lovely and the staff were really helpful and friendly.
We stayed in the courtyard and it was really peaceful. We loved walking around the garden and enjoyed our time in the pool.
The spa facilities were great but don't expect a full spa set up. There is a nice pool, sauna and steam room as well as a hot tub. More what is found at a smaller spa resort but it was ample for us.
The staff are more than happy to help arrange transport and there are some lovely pubs nearby if you want to eat somewhere other than at the hotel.

Lovely grounds and comfortable room. Very nice food. Pleasant and friendly staff
Over-priced accommodation. Whilst the grounds and food are great and there is a spa available. The price for one room over one night is exorbitant. The room was comfortable but dated
We recently stayed at Middlethorpe Hall & Spa for a few days and had an excellent experience from start to finish. During our stay we made full use of the spa facilities, which were relaxing and well maintained. The hotel itself is beautiful, with lovely grounds and a peaceful atmosphere.
The food was outstanding throughout our stay, with both dinner and breakfast of a very high standard. What really made the visit special was the staff, who were exceptionally friendly, attentive, and always willing to help.
Nothing to dislike – we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return.
Breakfast was okay apart from eggs not cooked properly. Poached eggs were hard. The silver teapot tea were is okay apart from they are old and not pouring properly.
There is a set menu for an evening meal which does not change having been there for three days. One would be totally bored with the choice of food at an expensive price. It meant we had to travel out of the hotel to have a change of menu.
Exceptional hotel with beautiful grounds and amazing staff. The rooms are huge, spacious and meticulously maintained.
Oh my goodness, their GARDENS! Absolutely stunning and a beautiful place to sit and relax. It was lovely to be able to use the pool too and I squeezed a couple of swimming visits in each day. It's the first time in a long time where I have properly relaxed – the gardens were a huge part of this for me and they are even more stunning in real life. The hotel is well appointed, if rather dated in style, and the staff were all super friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back at some point!
It might have been nice to have air-conditioning in the room, as I stayed on the weekend when it was 30 degrees. Didn't sleep overly well for that reason, even though the beds were super comfy – just a bit hot as I was in the courtyard bedrooms up in the loft that just held all the heat in. Wedged the door open to get a draft and it was soon back to normal though.
Gorgeous environment and always feels special. Gardens a dream. Great staff and service. Afternoon tea is good. Spa is intimate.
Food was way above expectation, really should be Michelin starred.
