The central bar was good
The hotel is so tired. My carpet was badly stained and the walls dirty looking. Paint and veneer was chipped and passageways were chipped and looked dirty
the proximity, views, and lore make this the perfect space to stay in Syd
some tiny conveniences were out of order like one of the lifts and one of the drains having an issue. but it’s an historic building so we were more concerned with being in that place as a whole

The housekeeping was a bit random and the cleaning spotty.
An amazing hotel!
The room was spacious and I liked the view over the water. The bed was comfortable
On arrival the reception staff treated me like I was invisible. Being a middle aged woman on her own what can you expect? No greeting of hello, I had to ask to check in!
My room was right next to the cleaning staff cupboard on the 4th floor, and it was the furthest walk from reception and considering the hotel wasn’t busy I’m not sure why I was stuck away in the corner. There was a big stain on the carpet and the bathroom door was chipped and needed a coat of paint.
I ordered an in-service meal of calamari and quite frankly, I would have been embarrassed to serve it. A tiny tiny portion for $30’s, over cooked with no salad. Awful.
The pool was also a long walk past offices etc in the building and a bit hard to find. I decided not to use it as I was too bit embarrassed to walk past the cafe and bar and offices in my robe.
The hotel location is nice on the water and I booked it as I had a work meeting at the NSW Gallery of Art but not great for public transport. A 15 minute walk up hill to get to St.James station coming from the hotel. I ended up using Ubers.

Bar and restaurant closed when we came back to hotel after seeing a show.
Great location to go and see the Opera on Sydney harbour, Botanic gardens and be by the water. Plenty of bars, pubs, restaurants around. Room was lovely and spacious over two levels with view of the water. Comfortable bed. Very quiet at night. All the amenities needed for a stay.
Needs a bit of upgrading (eg one lift not working, carpets a bit old, decoration in bar/dining).
Location is ok
Very dated feel of the hotel. The standard of the bathroom was really bad- the shower and taps need an upgrade, impossible to get the water temperature right. It wasn’t very clean either- hair in the bathtub. The AC in the room was not working properly, and since it was a short stay could not be bothered to get it repaired or move rooms. The stuff at the bar was pretty unexcited about working there, drinks were simply bad. I would definitely not stay there again, unless they go through total renovation and concept update.
There wasn't much information about the facilities in the room. What was available and where to find it.
The couch was terribly uncomfortable. One side of the bed felt like it had collapsed. Light switches were difficult to understand and locate.

Great location interesting design maintaining the original industrial structure. Loved the pool and all the restaurants running along the wharf directly beside the hotel. Within walking distance to the Art Gallery and perfect for an Art Gallery After dark event. Also we were given a significant upgrade and a lovely cake surprise with our Moët to celebrate our anniversary! Exceptional value for money and great staff.
