Small room with a very comfortable bed. Delicious breakfast with a large cold and warm buffet.
The hotel is located very close to downtown. You just need to walk 10 minutes and you reach the Temple bar and the Trinity college.

How accessible it was for the lady we support in a wheelchair, the local secure carpark is literally a 5 minute walk and the hotel staff are amazing. Hotels very clean and kept clean.

location was great. As an ex Dub from the area is was great for meeting up with family and friends around town.

My 16-year-old daughter and I travelled from Canada to Dublin for a dance competition, with a little sightseeing mixed in, and stayed at the Academy Plaza Hotel for 11 nights.

Overall, we had a wonderful experience. The hotel has a lot of charm and is in an excellent location. It is just far enough from the busiest parts of the city to be quiet, yet only a 5–20 minute walk to Dublin's main attractions. We also booked two day trips, and both tour pickup locations were less than a five-minute walk from the hotel, which made things incredibly convenient.

The restaurant and bar were both excellent. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet every morning, and it never disappointed. The food was fresh, well stocked, and the service was quick. We also had dinner at the restaurant twice, and both meals were delicious, reasonably priced, and offered a good variety of options. The bar stayed open until at least midnight each evening, making it easy to grab a draft beer or cocktail after a long day of exploring. The hotel also has a spacious lounge and foyer area, which was a great place to relax. I even spent a couple of evenings working on my laptop there.

We stayed in a twin room, and it was exactly what we needed. The room was modern, very clean, and well maintained throughout our stay. Housekeeping came each morning, which we appreciated. Having travelled in several European countries before, I expected the room to be smaller than what we are used to in Canada, but it was perfectly comfortable. During our visit, Dublin experienced unusually hot weather, yet the air conditioning kept up well, and the additional fan provided made the room even more comfortable.

From a safety perspective, I felt very comfortable staying here. Key card access is required for the elevators, gym, and other guest areas, adding an extra layer of security. Because the hotel has a restaurant and café, members of the public can enter the main lobby. However, I noticed staff regularly checking the common areas in the evenings, politely confirming that people were hotel guests and asking non-guests to leave when necessary. It was reassuring to see the staff being proactive.

There were very few negatives during our stay. The only minor issue was that the Wi-Fi could be a little intermittent at times, but it was never a major inconvenience.

I would not hesitate to stay here again and would happily recommend the Academy Plaza Hotel to anyone visiting Dublin. It offered an excellent combination of location, comfort, value, and friendly service, and it was a fantastic home base for our trip.
