Easy check in. Good value for money. Extremely comfortable beds. Attentive staff.
In need of a little TLC. Car park was small for the size of hotel, but we always found a space.
The hotel is located on the outskirts of the city centre, around about a 7 - 10 minute walk to the centre. The room was large, clean and the bed was very comfortable. Did not eat at the hotel but bar prices were very reasonable.
The only issue was the lifts not working and this had been highlighted prior to our stay by other guests over a few weeks. Parking was an issue bu thanks to the reception staff, it was all sorted OK. I didn't like ppeople moaning about the cost and where the hotel wa situated.......Your not paying for the Ritz so these people need to manage thier expectations accordingly.
Rooms were a good size and very comfortable for a short stay staff were friendly and very helpful
The lifts wasn’t working when we arrived so being on floor 8 then floor 9 was hard work after 2 days at a festival which we know isn’t the fault of the hotel just the only inconvenience experienced
The staff were lovely.
The lifts didn't work all the time we were there. There was not hot water in the shower.
Helpful guy on reception and in the bar.
We have stayed here many times before but on our two night stay this time the lift was out of order. The staff were helpful and placed us on as low a floor as possible, but it was pretty rubbish having to hump luggage up three flights of stairs in the heat at my age and condition (I'm a pensioner with heart problems).
We also previously enjoyed a drink and pizza in the bar on a Sunday but now the bar doesn't open on Sundays. Shame.
Size of room
Lift out or order
Room had no air conditioning but did have a fan
Nothing!
I noticed dust and cobwebs in the room when I checked in (I took pictures). I ignored it at first and went back to my office, got back to my hotel room around 10-11 PM, went to the bathroom to have a shower but found out the soap dispenser was empty. I went to the reception, met 3 guys there and told them there was no soap in the dispenser. While there I also politely mentioned that there was dust all over the tables and it was as if the room was not prepared for a guest. One of the guys said he's the manager and he would send someone to refill the soap dispenser but he doesn't believe my dust story. I asked him what he meant because I wouldn't make that kind of thing up. Then he asked me why didn't I report it when I checked in if it was true, so I told him I wasn't going to bother about it but thought I'd mention it while I was requesting for the soap dispenser to be refilled. I added that I'm a bit pissed because he's alleging that I'm lying. I asked for his name but he initially refused and said he does not have to give me. So I insisted before he said Graham but I didn't hear what he said so I asked him to repeat it then he chose to spelt it out in a condescending manner and also added that he could write it down for me, again in a condescending manner. He was very rude, arrogant and condescending throughout the period and showed no managerial or customer service skills. He later asked someone to follow me to my room to refill the soap dispenser and verify the dust and if I'm still not happy he would check me out and I could go find somewhere else to sleep. He said that to my face and that was around 11:30 PM. I felt humiliated because I paid to stay in that room and he spoke to me as if he was doing me a favour. I have experienced different levels of racism and I know one when I see it, but if I call this out for what it is some would say I'm using the "race card".
Lift one out of action on arrival second morning the second broke we were on floor 7 and had to climb 14 flights of stairs to get to and from our room the rooms weren’t as pictured on website which should be updated as mislead me a bit as rooms weren’t as pictured but had comfortable beds and fan supplied helped make comfortable but my wife is unwell as 2 weeks prior she had a big operation and told to take it easy for 6 weeks now she is feeling unwell due to the stress of the climbing stair
We luckily managed to park on the small carpark out front. The beds were comfy and clean.
When we arrived around 8 pm, there was a problem with the door key, which meant the person on reception had to let us into our room. After going out for dinner, the issue was not resolved, which wasn't a major issue, but there was only one member of staff working the evening shift and no security on site to help, so we had to wait a short while before going up. As we walked down the corridor towards our room, there was a very strong smell of weed right by our room. When I mentioned it to the staff member letting us into our room, he commented saying he could knock on every door to see where it was coming from but it would cause more of a disturbance to other clients. He then walked off. Both myself and daughter were exhausted after a day of competing at Ponds Forge Pool, so went in. Sadly the smell of weed could be smelt quite strongly in our bathroom, so we kept the door shut but could still smell it in our room. We couldn't open the window due to the noise of the city outside. It was a frustrating end to a busy day and we felt disappointed by the lack of help of the member of staff to resolve the issue for us.
Yes was clean the room
Both lifts where out action and when you have health conditions and not been notified that lifts where out of action I had to walk up stairs to 4th floor that sent my blood pressure sky high very lucky to be alive
