Rooms were a little bit warn in need of tlc
It's a beautiful hotel with lovely staff. The food is fabulous. The dining rooms are gorgeous! Our room was extremely comfortable and I slept the best I have in a long time!
The blind in our bathroom needed updating. The wifi was a bit patchy.
It was a convenient location for our plans that weekend
Service was slow at check-in. We had a lovely open fire, but the lighter provided was broken, so had to purchase our own - it was either that or call reception every time we wanted to light it so they could bring the one other lighter they had. We found a short black hair on a bath towel, and stains on rugs, chairs and decorative pillows. When we arrived for breakfast we did not receive a friendly welcome (or any welcome at all), and that staff member seemed very cold. We paid almost £400 for a one night stay and , all things considered, it was not good value for money. However, the cocktails were amazing!

This hotel was really excellent. We had a great room with a huge bathtub, bed and a comfy sofa. The hotel bar was great and the staff were super helpful.

Location is lovely. Free parking. Free spa facilities. Big sunken bath and walk in shower.
We had an issue with lunch, but it was rectified professionally. Be aware they don’t serve evening food on a Sunday but thankfully the waitress recommended a few local restaurants and we were lucky to get into one of them but earlier than we’d usually eat.
There was an issue with the water when we arrived at the property and we weren’t told on check in. Upon ringing reception when my wife was trying to fill the bath, we were told we could use the spa facilities to shower. On arrival at the spa we were originally told they were full so there needs to be better communication on situations like that. We were eventually allowed to use the pool and shower but were told we couldn’t use a Sunlounger as the spa was fully booked. We were not told on check in you have to book a slot in the spa either.
Loved the character of the property, and its location. We had the ‘cosy rooms’ which were lovely.

Friendly staff and great location
The hotel bedrooms are showing their age a bit, with mid-matching door knobs and tired fixtures and fittings in the bathroom.
Make sure you book the pool/spa in advance as it only accommodates 10 people.
