Everything we expected.
Pros:

Location great. Style of property great. Atmosphere great.

Cons:

Cost for parking at 50 pounds was a surprise and travelling on Australian dollars adds $100 to our stay

Nice, comfortable boutique hotel. Mind the stairs !
Pros:

Lovely hotel, about 10 minutes walk from the old city and the Minster.
The room was very comfortable and immaculately clean and the staff were friendly and very efficient.
Loved the baggage pick up from the train station, that made it very convenient for us.
Only issue was the 60+ stairs that we had to climb to find our room. The Receptionists comment about a ‘few stairs’ when we checked in was a bit of an understatement. As we checked out we were told that there are other similar rooms more conveniently located. If only we had been told that on check-in.
We were able to get in and out through the back door during the day, which cut it down to 2 flights of stairs, but the back-door is shut at night.

A charming place to stay in York.
Pros:

A lovely, clean, modern, charming, boutique hotel located in a heritage building with all the amenities one could ask for. We also liked the addition of a “pantry” that all guests could help themselves to- this was an unexpected delight that we’ve not encountered elsewhere! The short walk to the city centre was also a bonus.

Cons:

There wasn’t really anything we didn’t like. However, the maze to get to one’s room could be a little confusing for some initially.

Beautiful wedding night in the most lush suite.
Pros:

The suite we stayed in was stunning. I don’t think I’ve ever been in a nicely decorated room. The pantry is a great touch. The whole stay left us pampered. We couldn’t have picked a better hotel for our wedding night.

Cons:

How amazing it was - we can’t wait to try the others in the chain!!!

Exceptional Stay
Pros:

Myself and I stayed at No.1 as part of a weekend get away for our anniversary. From the moment arriving to the second we left, I was blown away by our exceptional stay. A particular mention must go to the brilliant staff who all go out of their way to make the stay feel special. The hotels room are of a high standard and clean, with everything you need for a few nights away. I won’t go over the other nice touches mentioned in other reviews but the pantry is a great touch.

The location is excellent for a quick walk in and out of the City centre and parking was easy and convenient at the hotel.

Bank holiday getaway
Pros:

Lovely one night stay for the bank holiday. Gorgeous building. We booked a room that included a little tippee tent for our daughter and it was perfect. Toys inside for her to play with. She loved it. Even a baby size bath robe. Staff were very helpful and accommodating. We didn’t pre book parking and the car park was full but there is a public car park only a short walk from the hotel. I enjoyed a spa treatment before we explored York. A great option for a boutique stay.
