A comfortable and original hotel in a good location for visiting the main sights in York.
Pros:

Great location and lovely staff. Quirky decor and added touches.

Cons:

The TV didn’t work. Not a problem for me and the staff assured me they would check it for the next guest. The complimentary pantry was not as well stocked compared with a previous visit.

The location was great. Friendly staff and attentive. Room was wonderful and clean and overall the hotel was the highlight of our trip!

Cons:

The hotel kept sending me a pre check-in link, asking me to share my bank card details, despite Booking.com telling me that the hotel would never ask me to do this via email or text and that I should be wary of doing so if they did. Made me feel a little uncomfortable because I also got another link on the morning I was due to check out asking if I wanted to pay early. The hotel and the room were lovely but it all just felt a bit strange.

Also, the breakfast wasn’t good. The pain au chocolat was £3.50 for something that felt like it had come from the Sainsbury’s local down the road. Also they forgot my husband’s orange juice and so he had to remind them.

Well located, friendly staff, nice touches, great spa experience.

Cons:

Our room was in the eaves. I’m 6’ 2”. So I couldn’t use the loo standing up, or stand in front of the bathroom sink to shave, and my head touched the shower head.

Overall - very good, but trying to contact the property by phone was immensely frustrating. Drop the AI bot ‘answering’
Pros:

Well positioned - lovely building. Room interior a bit all over the place. Good ‘communal’ areas although bar to brightly lit. A good bar atmosphere at night easily achieved - dim the lights!

Cons:

It was all pretty good. Stained stair carpets should be replaced

Stylish hotel within short walk of York Minster
Pros:

Stylish and characterful accommodation in walking distance to York Minster. On-site secure parking (for a fee). Smart restaurant serving dinner from Thursday to Sunday, and offering breakfast daily. Loved the pantry idea if you need a snack.

Cons:

It’s on a main road so can be noisy if your room as at the front. The shower is in the bath in a standard room.

The decoration and the staffs

Cons:

The rooms were small, some places were dirty and got dust gathering on top of radio, bathroom tiles were broken and stained, could do a bit maintenance and upkeep.
