Lovely hotel in a great area.
Nothing really
Room had enough room. Everything we needed. Location perfect. Staff extremely friendly. Record player in bedroom an interesting and enjoyable quirk

The architecture was exceptional. Perfect for picturesque photos. Excellent customer service. Comfortable and clean facility. Extremely comfortable bed with room well stocked with refreshments (tea, coffee).
Nothing bad to say. An exceptional place would love to return for a longer stay.
Very stylish and very comfortable
Sometimes a lot of noise is transmitted from nearby - presumably the wooden floors don’t help.
It was slightly quirky but not overdone. The rooms were nice, the bed comfortable. There was no generic hotel art, nor a million pointless cushions on the bed. The staff felt real and friendly. There was REAL MILK in a little bottle for tea. There was a bath as well as a shower. The toiletries made me covetous. The larder idea is generous - free popcorn on demand! I really, really liked it here.
The coffee at breakfast wasn’t great, and the scrambled eggs tasted like they were scrambled in a great vat. The record player in the room, which I was very excited about, didn’t have an ordinary plug at the end and we couldn’t find a way to plug it in anywhere to make it work. Still, there were records there and it was fun and it’s such a great idea that I feel a bit churlish complaining.
Perfect for a couple
Nothing
Beautiful guesthouse -
Awesome decor and facilities away from the mayhem
Nothing
We liked the location as it was only a short walk to the attractions / pubs and restaurants. The breakfast was very nice and the free pantry was an added bonus especially as we like jelly babies and pop corn.
We found the room rather small had to be careful not to stub your toes. The bathroom was also very small.
We were wowed by the place itself, but the staff need their own applause - Top tier stuff. I had made a request for our room as a surprise for my girlfriend and they completely exceeded expectations, wow. We have to come back in the near future. 11/10.
Had a great three night stay at No.1 York. All staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Our room was well appointed and very comfortable. The facility to pick our luggage up from the railway station was very welcome as it gave us additional time to explore York. Full breakfast range. Quirky additional offerings such as the vinyl record player in the room, the doll’s house housing the tea &coffee facilities and free access to the pantry providing snacks and drinks was very appreciated. Would certainly recommend for a stay in York.
Location
Restaurant was acceptable but not somewhere I would book out of choice
