Well located, cosy room, lovely restaurant, bar and lounge area was nice to spend a couple of hours chilling, very helpful staff
Our room was a standard King room for two nights, for a longer stay it would be useful if the room had a small chest of drawers.
The staff went out if their way to help
Nothing at all.
Everything
Room could have been a little bit bigger.
Location, food, room style, staff
Make the full A la carte menu available on Sundays! Free parking for hotel guests would be nice.
A good location
The bath plug didn’t work well
Reception could have been more friendly
Beautiful aesthetic very cosy , beautiful attention to details and very lovely staff . Breakfast was great too.
Room was little on smaller side and beds were too soft

Well equipped room, Breakfast great food plenty of choice, Dinner in the evening very good. Interesting décor.
First class staff.
The pitched roof in the bathroom was a problem, I am six foot and my head was against the ceiling when using the WC.
Great location, lovely hotel and the staff were really attentive and helpful.
I loved everything about this hotel. It ticked all my boxed

We stayed in both the Clifton and Bootham Suites across the nights surrounding our wedding, and both were absolutely gorgeous. The Clifton Suite in particular made the perfect bridal suite for getting ready on the morning of the wedding. Both suites are generously sized with stunning antique furniture and delightful small details throughout, from handwritten welcome notes to record players with a vinyl library and even charming dolls houses converted into tea and coffee stations.
The hotel and restaurant team couldn’t have been more helpful and looked after us with such care and attention throughout our stay and the wedding celebrations. A special thank you to Cara (Hotel Manager) and Craig (Restaurant Manager) who were fantastic on the day, and Lucy (Group Sales Office Manager) who supported us so wonderfully in the lead up to the wedding.
Breakfast the next morning was also fantastic. The team kindly allowed our families to sit together in a section of the restaurant and even brought breakfast up to the bridal suite on the wedding morning. The food selection and quality were excellent and very much in keeping with Pearly Cow’s reputation for great locally sourced produce.
The location is also perfect - just a short walk into York city centre. We loved the boutique charm of the hotel, with the heritage of the building and every room designed differently. It was especially magical during the festive season, with beautifully decorated Christmas trees throughout the hotel. Thoughtful touches like The Pantry really make this hotel stand out and somewhere we will return to again and again.
Honestly, there was very little we didn't like. The hotel is full of character and heritage which is part of its charm. The only small things we noticed were that there wasn’t really anywhere to place our open suitcases in the room, which made unpacking a little tricky, and the Bootham Suite didn’t have a mini fridge which would have been a nice addition. Parking can also be a little limited and tight, although there's a public carpark very close nearby as an alternative.
