We were wowed by the place itself, but the staff need their own applause - Top tier stuff. I had made a request for our room as a surprise for my girlfriend and they completely exceeded expectations, wow. We have to come back in the near future. 11/10.
We liked the location as it was only a short walk to the attractions / pubs and restaurants. The breakfast was very nice and the free pantry was an added bonus especially as we like jelly babies and pop corn.
We found the room rather small had to be careful not to stub your toes. The bathroom was also very small.
Had a great three night stay at No.1 York. All staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Our room was well appointed and very comfortable. The facility to pick our luggage up from the railway station was very welcome as it gave us additional time to explore York. Full breakfast range. Quirky additional offerings such as the vinyl record player in the room, the doll’s house housing the tea &coffee facilities and free access to the pantry providing snacks and drinks was very appreciated. Would certainly recommend for a stay in York.
Location
Restaurant was acceptable but not somewhere I would book out of choice
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It is located about a 10-minute walk to the heart of York. The atmosphere was fantastic with beautiful furniture. Breakfast was outstanding. Service was terrific. We really enjoyed staying at this hotel.
La ducha del bano pero todo en general fue excelente
Liked the homely touches radio record player and pantry and having breakfast thrown in was appreciated.
We were glad to be at the back of the property the front would be noisier
This is a lovely hotel in York. About 15 minutes from the central york action by walking so nice and quiet. The room was well appointed and comfortable. I had a nice bathtub and big soft bed. The breakfast room service was complimentary which was really nice. I had two slow mornings with a breakfast tray. The pantry was also a nice treat even through I think some of the candy can be refreshed.
Overall I am hooked on Guesthouse and would stay at any of their locations. Many reviews said you could hear everyone around but I didn't have that experience.
It was a lovely hotel, the staff are so friendly and the food was beautiful
Toast wasn't brought out with breakfasts but everything else was great, only a small thing!
Stylish, great food and location
This is a really excellent hotel. It benefits from a great location for people visiting York, the building has been cleverly and stylishly renovated and it's staffed by a very friendly and professional team. We had read some reviews that the standard double rooms were small and/or noisy but that was not our experience at all. The reception team put us on the top (second) floor in a lovely and perfectly decent-sized room (no. 24) which looked out of the back of the hotel over a quiet residential street and nearby playing fields. We had a wonderful stay
Good ambiance, good location. Liked the pantry.
The dolls house difficult to access coffee machine.
Beautiful hotel. Everything about our stay was lovely. Thank you.
