Location and grounds are beautiful
Our room was a bit tired and shower head was broken
Friendly professional welcome on arrival. I had checked in prior to arrival so there was minimal documentation and we were in our room very quickly. Excellent location with beautiful grounds. The hotel is full character with a warm welcoming environment.

The food was exceptional and the service by Aaron was impeccable. The rooms are comfortable and spacious and the setting is idyllic. We've been a few times and will certainly return.
The food service on the Friday evening was a little lacking despite there appearing to be additional staff.
Our little group of 6 really enjoyed getting together there. The rooms were very comfortable and we had an excellent dining experience.

It was a lovely hotel altho older it was very well maintained with lovely gardens and sitting on a canal and to top it off while eating breakfast we saw some canal boats sail on the canal

We booked this as a wedding present for our son and his wife. They were blown away by the restaurant and the quality of the food. A further comment was that the bed was "huge and the room well appointed."

We ate in the restaurant. The food was hot and tasty. We had a great night's sleep and the shower was hot and powerful.

All of the food and drink we had during our stay at breakfast and dinner was suburb. The quality, presentation and the choice available was excellent. Our room was comfortable, with good facilities in the room and bathroom. Our room was clean and tidy and well presented.
Sadly, there were flies in the restaurant when we had our evening meal, and at breakfast. I have no doubt this was nothing to do with the standard of cleanliness, just due to rural location and nearby cattle in fields adjacent to the hotel. The restaurant staff did everything they could to help and control the problem, but it was disturbing at times.
Traffic noise from the nearby motorway was noticeable when we were inside our room. We have stayed in the hotel before, and previously we didn't hear or notice the traffic noise, but this time, maybe due to the location of our room, it was noticeable throughout the night.
Comfortable room. Good dinner at a sensible price. Good breakfast options. Beautiful setting too.
Minor signs of wear and tear: it is an old building! Pathway near the restaurant could do with some weed killer.
