Next time I’ll be going in with a black light…
Pros:

A lovely hotel in the heart of Leicester, situated close to the train station and 5 minutes walk from the main shopping area.

The hotel was nicely decorated, although could probably do with a lick of paint in areas as the paint was mismatched. On to the room it was super warm and cosy (just how I like it) - The lift was working when I visited.

However I do reckon the carpets do need to be cleaned as there were spots of white on the carpet. The room I was staying in you could get into the room without using the key fob (which wasn’t a problem as I was only there for 1 night - I did mention it to the staff but they seemed to have known about it, so I would probably check your door locks after you leave if you are staying longer)

Other than that it was a lovely stay, but definitely could do with improvements as mentioned above.

Surprisingly nice
Pros:

I was really impressed with this Ibis hotel. The interior was very nice with lovely bedroom and eating area. The staff were friendly and there is a small car park. Would definitely stay there again.

First and last !
Pros:

I stayed at the Ibis Leicester City on Sat 29th November 2025 for the first and last time. On my arrival I find out that the only lift was broken and will remain broken untill January 2026. No communication was sent prior to my stay as I may have been inclined to look elsewhere. The room was basic as expected but there was what appeared to be blood stained on the carpet. The air conditioning/heating did not work. The TV did not work as the coax cable had been ripped out the back of TV (Room next door had the same issue). The safety latch on the window was broken and was a safety risk. The morning after when I went down to breakfast at 9:50 I was greeted by the receptionist that said " not much left but help yourself" when I complained I was told that breakfast ended at 10am but stated 11am on my booking. I was refunded breakfast but then had the inconvenience of having to go elsewhere. I emailed All Accor with this feedback last week but have yet to receive a reply. Is this really the standard that I should expect of Ibis ?
Terrible experience overall !

Needs a bit of cleaning up but a good nights sleep
Pros:

Unfortunately when I arrived the lift was not working and won’t be until next year. Not a problem for me as I was on the first floor but something to be aware of.
I arrived early, before check in time, but they kindly found me a room that was ready.
The window didn’t seal very well so I had the sound of the wind whistling through (it was VERY windy) but earplugs solved that problem.
The carpets could do with a wash but generally they were ok.
The bed was very comfortable and the room was not too hot.
Nice shower with plenty of hot water.
Breakfast was good and relatively cheap.
All in all I would stay here again. Good location.

Avoid this hotel!!!!
Pros:

Two friends and chose the hotel as it was close to the station and city centre for the Christmas market, and having stayed at Ibis/Accor hotels on several occasions both in the UK and overseas I was understandably hopeful of the same level of comfort and service.

Upon check-in at 5pm, we were harassed at the reception/bar area by a very drunk man who the staff seemed to know/be aware of but did nothing about, which immediately put us on edge.

We were then allocated our rooms on the 4th floor and informed that the lift was out of order with no prior warning. Upon reaching the 4th floor up a very tired and grubby set of stairs that smelt strongly of cannabis we reached our rooms. By which time one of my friends who suffers from a chronic back condition was in agony but didn’t want to worry us as we were exhausted from a long day already 😢

The lift door on the 4th floor had a sign on it saying that the lift would be out of order until 31 JANUARY 2026!

During our stay, we encountered a number of residents wandering the corridors looking “out of it” and a strong smell of cannabis in the corridors. We also came across people smoking drugs in the hotel car park and in various states of undress which made us feel very uncomfortable . It was obvious that the hotel was also being used as temporary local authority housing/crisis accommodation.

My room was tired and shabby with a TV hanging off the wall and disgustingly stained carpets, which meant that I had to keep shoes on just to walk around the room as god knows what the stains were - see pics 🤢

The “mattress” was an absolute joke. A thin piece of foam with an ill-fitting cover atop and uncover hessian base type thing.

On returning that evening after a meal, another guest was at reception explaining that she couldn’t sleep as her toilet was constantly flushing. The person on reception said there was nothing they could do as the maintenance person only works Mon-Fri! What sort of hotel doesn’t have access to a 24/7 emergency repairs service?! Especially one that is part of an international chain of hotels! The receptionist tried to fob the guest off with a free breakfast worth £11 - to which she rightly replied that wouldn’t compensate for the loss of a night’s sleep so politely refused.

Generally the staff were pleasant but were obviously disinterested and lacked a basic level of customer care.

As a result of both the very uncomfortable bed and generally feeling unsafe both my friends and I had a terrible night’s sleep - not ideal when we faced 3-4 hour drives home the next day.

This hotel falls woefully short of the standard expected from an Ibis hotel. I’ve stayed at Ibis budget in the past - which this one wasn’t - that were of a much better quality.

The lack of accessibility and the fact that the hotel is being used for purposes other than leisure and travel guests means that it should not be advertised on booking sites until the issues are resolved.

I will be making a complaint to Accor Hotel Group separately and requesting a refund. I didn’t expect luxury for the price, but I don’t think expecting cleanliness, a sense of safety and a decent night’s sleep is too much to ask 😓

Avoid at all costs!!!!!!!

Pros:

A very strange hotel. There was very limited parking and the availability of local car parks that needed payment was not well signposted - and the immediate area around the hotel wasn’t where we wanted to go wheeling our suitcases. The lift wasn’t working (we had received an email informing us about this) but we were placed on the fourth floor, which was six floors from ground level. We called into the bar for a bottle of wine at the end of the evening and felt that the member of staff (in a deserted bar) did not listen to us. We asked what white wine he sold by the bottle and he told us about one type, seeming to hope that we would want that and then offered us rose! I asked for an ice bucket but he gave us a glass of ice (does Ibis not have any ice buckets) and poured us two glasses of wine. When I took the bottle, he informed us that he had not charged us for a bottle. I was not paying but it seems that he charged us £8.30 for two large glasses of wine - and then charged us another £11 for the remainder of the bottle! The overall price seemed right but we would have been much better off sticking with the two glasses,

Should have stayed at a premierinn
Pros:

Twin Room booked, the beds were a tiny single. As a 6ft bloke, i turned over in bed and nearly fell out.
Light switch right next to your head, pillow knocked it on when you move in bed.
Lift broken so 8 flights of stairs to get to our room.
Not a great stay

October 25 business trip.
Pros:

I stayed here for work, booked half board and was anxious about food and accommodation . After reading reviews. Breakfast was amazing, as good as any hotel I’ve stayed in, the evening menu was limited, but still had a nice enough choice for the few days I stayed, and was good enough, if you want five star dining for an evening meal go somewhere else but this suits me after work and service was ten out of ten, nice friendly staff, but as in earlier comments, lift is still broken, come on ibis, can’t be that big a problem to fix.

Worst Ibis experience ever
Pros:

Arrived late, check in on first floor and no lifts working. Checked in, room was ok. Came back down for supper and was served an inedible burger and a cured for £17.

Looked for someone to complain to but no staff going around.

Dining room windows were filthy. No lifts again to upper floors.

All in all my worst Ibis experience

do not recommend
Pros:

I wouldn’t recommend staying at this hotel, the overall cleanliness of the hotel is poor, I stayed on the 30th august 2025, it wasn’t until after I booked that the hotel made me aware the lift was broken which i think is bad, should definitely be made aware before booking, I have bad legs so walking up and down those stairs was a struggle especially since I was on the 3rd floor :( reception staff were polite but that’s the only kind thing I could say, the room wasn’t clean, dust was left in alot of places, the whole hotel had a bad smell too unsure wether that was the sewers maybe?. overall 1/10 hotel needs some tlc

Good hotel experience
Pros:

Had a good stay at Ibis. Excellent location at the edge of city center and away from the hustle and bustle. It's a no-frills place and was fit for purpose. Nice bar and restaurant too and very helpful Staff members.

Lovely stay, nice hotel.
Pros:

Really enjoyed the stay here. Nice room and nice, helpful staff.
Spent the evenings in the bar and it was nice and chilled.
Breakfast was beautiful and had a good selection.
Bed was very comfy and the room was lovely. Housekeeping also spot on. Room was near the road and people round Leicester seem to like being loud and beeping the horn haha.
The only issue was that the corridor stunk, it was better after the cleaners had been round but it soon came back. I won't say what it smelt of!

Avoid at All Costs – Spend the Extra and Stay at Holiday Inn
Pros:

As someone who travels frequently, I can confidently say this is one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Ibis Leicester City completely shattered my trust in the Ibis brand, and unless major changes are made, I’ll never book with them again.

When we first arrived, we were given a room on the second floor. It immediately had a musty vibe — not unexpected in the UK, where air con is rare. (To be fair, this location does have AC, which is one of its very few redeeming qualities.)

We were out for most of the day and came back late to get some rest. But when my mom pulled back the covers, we noticed dirty, stained sheets. Yes, dirty sheets on a made bed. When I checked mine, I found hair under the duvet — definitely not mine. It was clear the sheets had not been changed from the previous guests. Disgusting.

We immediately reported this to the front desk (around 11 p.m. on July 14). The man working took a moment to even acknowledge us, and after we explained the issue, he came up to take photos himself. His solution? Either give us clean sheets to change the bed ourselves (excuse me??), or move to another room. No overnight housekeeping, no real apology, and definitely no urgency. We were forced to repack our bags and move everything after an exhausting day of travel from Canada.

The new room had clean sheets — progress. But then came the bathroom. While preparing to shower, I found a pubic hair on one of the towels. Yet again, back to reception I went, and was handed a new towel. No apology, no concern, just a quick fix. Later, I discovered the other towel had some mysterious purple crusted substance on it. The bathroom itself was grimy — mildew around the shower, buildup around the tap, stained fixtures. Absolutely unacceptable.

When I asked if anything would be offered in good faith — even a comped breakfast — I was told no, because the problem was “resolved within 15 minutes.” In what world does “we gave you a clean room after giving you a dirty one” count as resolution? I know asking for a comp might have seemed cheeky or on the nose, but I’ve dealt with customer service long enough to know that when there’s been a serious lapse in hygiene and guest experience, companies typically offer something — not because the guest demands it, but because they want to rebuild trust and goodwill. This was a missed opportunity to do that. Instead, the interaction left a sour taste. The message was clear: basic cleanliness is optional, and guest satisfaction isn’t a priority. There was no sense of ownership, no real apology, and no attempt to rebuild trust. For a hotel to treat basic hygiene like it’s optional is outrageous. For staff to treat customer dissatisfaction as a non-issue is even worse.

I had previously stayed at Ibis London Southwark and had a lovely experience — which is why I booked this one. I deeply regret it. At this point, I wouldn’t trust an Ibis to be clean, anywhere. The damage is done.

If you value peace of mind, don’t stay here. Spend the extra and book the Holiday Inn — it’s leagues ahead in terms of cleanliness and service. No hotel is perfect, but the bare minimum is clean sheets and towels. Ibis Leicester failed miserably.
