A very special hotel
Pros:

This hotel is a lovely boutique hotel near to Kings Cross.
We had a lovely welcome and were taken to our room. The room was on the first floor. I had emailed the hotel to say that I have walking difficulties after an operation and they put us in a room accessed by a lift which was great for me. The room was amazing! Very big with a lovely open bathroom ( there is a glass door and curtain for privacy).
The breakfast was in a nice room by reception. The staff were all so lovely and very helpful especially with helping us find our way around Sydney . The breakfast menu was quite small and not traditional breakfast but there is something for everyone I'm sure.
Everything about this hotel is good. It's a bit different to the hotel we usually stay in and I'm glad we chose this one for Sydney. It's very close to Kings Cross. An easy walk to the tube station and lots of restaurants and bars nearby.
It's definitely a hotel I'd love to come back to. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Lovely boutique hotel
Pros:

I really like this hotel. Small and very nicely decorated boutique hotel. The staff were fantastic and very helpful. Room was large and comfortable. Not personally a fan of the open plan bathroom (there is a sliding door) but this was a minor gripe. We were next to the lift, which was noisy though, although it wasn’t used much. Principal gripe was location; this is a lovely hotel surrounded by many backpacker hostels, and is also a mile from the opera house (not much of that mile is flat!). We enjoyed our stay very much.

A true gem of a hotel
Pros:

A really gorgeous boutique hotel,on a quiet, leafy road, within an easy walk to the station and metro,Kings Cross nearby too.
Check in was easy, really lovely, friendly staff member, makes all the difference! He gave us lots of good tips about the area, after asking us if we were OK with stairs, carried my(very) heavy case up the fairly steep stairs to room 5,at the top of the building.
Can honestly say, the whole place has such a relaxed, calm vibe. Our room was immaculate, huge bathroom with walk in shower, extremely comfy bed(personal opinion!), iron/board, hairdryer, tasteful toiletries, which can also be bought from reception,a tea/coffee tray.
There is a mini bar provided, however, the prices are really rather high…There’s also an honesty bar downstairs.you add your room number and it’s charged to your bill at check out.
We didn’t eat at Spicers, although brekkie smelled good,we ate at a place about a five minute walk away, which had an amazing menu, with fab food.
To walk to the harbour from the hotel,it’s a great walk, down steps, past Woolloomooloo wharf, through the Botanic gardens and there y’go! If you don’t want/not able to walk any distance, Ubers are quick, easy, and friendly too.
Back in the hotel, which,is a sanctuary to return to after being out all day -there’s a small reading room, and,at the back of the hotel,a pretty terrace.
If you’re looking for something that bit different from the usual hotel chains, then this place is probably pretty much perfect.

Loved this for a city staycation to celebrate our anniversary - the city was easily accessible, whilst the boutique charm of the property and the area lets you feel more relaxed. Appreciated all the special touches of this property, and the personalised service.

3 Star Hotel at best
Pros:

We stayed 3 nights and were hugely disappointed, especially given this hotel is marketed as a premium boutique property. Towels were worn with loose threads, scratchy to use, and carried a strong detergent smell. Bathrobes were also rough and mismatched, with one oddly short. Our sheet had a hole in it, the bed was never properly presented (cushions left on the floor after both services), and furnishings were badly worn with torn fabric on the chair and stool.
The bathroom sliding door would not close all the way and it seemed it was designed that way. So expect toilet smells and noises.
The television cords were left dangling down the wall with a mess of tangled cables behind.
These details might seem small, but they add up — and for a hotel that commands 5-star prices and branding, it was a real letdown.
We have stayed at two other hotels in this group and they were exceptional, so the lack of care and attention here was a shock. Sadly, this property didn’t come close to the same standard.
Luxe king room was spacious but not having a hallway into the room results in hearing everything outside your door very clearly. Curtains were not wide enough and so did not blockout room. Bathroom sliding door did not close all the way.
We did review on the hotels website but 3 weeks later and we have heard nothing.

Nice place in Potts point
Pros:

Stayed here for 2 nights during our Australia trip at Victorian terrace suite. Room size and in room amenity was great, however cockroach was found in the room but quickly been deal with by staff.

Bedding does not have proper duvet - it was sheet plus two layers of blankets.

Parking was reserved and conveniently located on the back of the hotel, however it was very challenging to access parking lot when you come back late, as receiption close at 10pm.

Breakfast was a la cart with several hot options, it would be great to add some pastry!

A Great Small Hotel in. Sydney!
Pros:

In early March 2025 we very much enjoyed a great one week stay at Spicers Potts Point in Sydney. We were initially attracted by its small size; its location; and its positive reviews. As to the location, it was exactly what we wanted, outside the hustle bustle of the CBD but close enough to be easily accessible by walking or public transportation. Kings Cross Station is just up the street, taxis are almost instantly available and we walked to and from the hotel to the CBD and Circular Quay several times in 30 minutes or less. The hotel is literally just a few minutes walk from some of Sydney’s more highly rated restaurants As to the size, the hotel has an intimate and upscale feel, with only about twenty rooms and suites spread out over three floors in three beautifully restored adjoining Victorian terrace buildings. We stayed in room #16 which is a spacious and nicely furnished room on the third floor and accessible by elevator. It is a quiet room away from street noise (which is what we had requested), the down side of which is that the view is limited. We were very comfortable, although we would have appreciated a bit more lighting (perhaps a floor lamp beside the easy chair) and more drawer space. As to breakfast, although we did not include breakfast in our rate plan, we ended up taking all of our breakfasts in house, both because it is served in an attractive, light-filled and cheerful room and because of the quality of the limited menu. Our regular order was two double-shot cappuccinos, a bowl of delicious house-made granola with yogurt and fresh fruit and an order of avocado toast, all of which were delicious; the only issue that we had was the inconsistency of the cooked food on the weekend, but the staff quickly dealt with that issue. All of the above notwithstanding, what made our stay most memorable was the warm welcome and daily support (including dinner recommendations and reservations, taxi bookings and tourist information) that we received from the staff, particularly from Charles, Katie, Lana and Phillip. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay at Spicers Potts Point, we would be delighted to stay there again and we would recommend it without reservation.

Pros:

Spicers was the highlight of our stay in Australia. We loved the boutique feel of the hotel. Everything aspect of the hotel was beautifully done, offering a stylish 5 star experience , rather than glitzy ostentatious frills.

All of the staff were super friendly and super helpful. Nothing was too much.

We would have loved to have stayed for longer as we felt so at home. A worthy alternative to the big hotel chains.

The hotel was well located for bars and restaurants within walking distance. Walks into the city centre were easy. We certainly felt we got to know the real character of Sydney in the short time we stayed.

Lovely hotel, lovely staff, lovely stays
Pros:

We stayed in two rooms at the hotel sandwiched between a couple of nights at the Spicers Sangoma Retreat. We really enjoyed our stays. The hotel is in a great location - much more atmospheric than staying in the CBD and still only a 40 minute walk to the Opera House. The hotel is set in three Victorian terrace houses nestled amongst other lovely old buildings and the whole of Potts Point has a relaxed vibe that is taken through into the hotel, both by the furnishings and the friendliness of all of the staff.

Breakfast was tasty and plentiful, though I do prefer a buffet (rather than a la carte).

Fantastic hotel
Pros:

We visited the hotel on November 24. It is an incredibly nice hotel, an older building which has been thoroughly modernized to a very high standard.
It provides atmosphere and modern facilities.
The hotel is slightly set back in quiet surroundings, but only 300 m to Kings Cross and close to the subway.
Since the hotel only has 20 rooms, you feel that the staff know you and are incredibly sweet and service minded.
We have visited many hotels, including 5-star ones, but Spicers Potts Point is something very special.

Thanks from Ruth and Martin - Denmark
