I reached the hotel at around 11.30 pm and asked for some food. The front desk staff said that their oven was broken and they did not have anything for me to eat. They asked me to order from UberEats. Now this is Marriot and I had booked a junior suite !!! After half an hour they said that the oven was fixed and they can get me a pizza. The pizza was put together by one of the night staff and when I asked him to send some olive oil with the pizza he did not come back or reply for 15 minutes. When I called back at the reception he picked up and said that he was about to inform me that they did not have Olive Oil. Now as you can you see they had lied about the oven at the front desk. They are aksing their guests to order food from outside. The room was good but the. lobby/lift was dirty and the front desk staff lies and are unprofessional.
Staff were friendly, and nothing was too much when requesting help. Breakfast food was great selection. Never had to wait for an elevator.
Very comfortable spacious room, kind staff and clean heated pool/spa and dry sauna
Location was great, nice hotel overall .
Staff interaction was less than desirable. Room was prepaid , but was charged again at check out , very rude desk person " just pay it " so I paid as we were on the way to fly and no time. I then showed I das prepaid , desk lady oh yeah you have paid , we will refund you within 4 weeks .! no apology at all , passive aggressive staff is not a good look. For this reason alone will never return to this hotel or recommend.
This hotel is advertised as a five-star property, but it is nowhere near that standard.
The room was extremely dated, tired, and poorly maintained. Upon arrival, the air-conditioning did not work at all. The bathroom floor tiles were visibly dirty, paint was chipped, and the door hinges were badly rusted. Overall, the room felt neglected and in clear need of refurbishment.
I went to the front desk to request a proper bathroom cleaning. While housekeeping addressed some areas, others were simply ignored. I also specifically asked that the air-conditioning vents be cleaned, as they were heavily coated with dust and debris. While the AC itself was eventually fixed, the vents were never cleaned.
The front desk appeared understaffed, and there was no clear sense of management presence or ownership of the issues. Service felt reactive at best, not proactive or aligned with what you would expect from a hotel claiming five-star status.
I’ve stayed at other Marriott properties in Melbourne, including the W, and had excellent experiences. Unfortunately, this stay was a major disappointment. I regret choosing this hotel and will not return.
I strongly recommend considering a different Marriott property. This is one of the worst-maintained major hotels I have stayed in.
very good x2
would like the breakfast to open at 6am like most other hotels.
getting internet access to the tv was not easy and also logged us out repeatedly to the point we gave up.
Best thing about this hotel was the location, which was easy walking distance to everything from the Queen Vic Market to the Botanical Garden to the MCG to the CBD. There wasn't anything really "wrong" with the property. But we were shocked that it is branded as a Marriott rather than a Courtyard or a Fairfield. Had we expected this level of quality, we wouldn't have been nearly as disappointed in this mostly average stay. To frost the cake, the "executive lounge" was a tiny room semi-divided on one wall from the lobby. Comically small and notably uncomfortable.
The concierge was nice and efficient. The bar tender was very professional. The reception was nice and professional
The breakfast sequence was a mess every day. The staff was obviously not enough trained. The ingredients on the buffet were not protected and submitted to people snizzing and coughing. The coffee machine was breaking every 10 minutes. The staff was running every where without efficiency. The restaurant was understaffed.
Early check in was awesome and improved my stay drastically.
Super friendly staff
Room was initially cold but heated up during the night somehow. So was good in the end.
Location
Check-in process was terrible, paid for valet and was non existent. Picked hotel for location to theatre, after returning 10pm hotel bar was closed. Went to room for room service, no drinks. Next morning had to chase up staff for plate for breakfast.
Very friendly and helpful staff
Our trip to Melbourne started off on a high note thanks to Elaine’s warm welcome, excellent customer service and efficient manner. We arrived early and Elaine at the front desk, greeted us, thanked us for our Marriott loyalty and was able to check us in an early. She answered all of our questions about the property, jotted down reminders about breakfast and the Marriott club and ensured that we were able to grab breakfast before the buffet shut down for the morning.
Close process to everything
Staff very helpful
Well priced
The front desk staff was very accommodating, location was great, rooms clean and comfortable, and restaurant buffet was excellent.
