Pros:

Room was nice as was the bathroom. Liked the mini split a/c. Did not like the fact that there is no elevator. A staff member helped take our things upstairs which was appreciated.

Great location near the Beach/Pier!
Pros:

I have to say I felt so-so when I drove up and actually saw the hotel (it reminded me of a Motel 6 or something), but the inside exceeded my expectations! Very nice and clean. Mini fridge, hair dryer, TV. We had an upstairs room with an additional back window that gave a view of the Ventura Pier which was nice.... Note: railroad tracks are right behind the hotel as well. The complimentary breakfast is the usual fare- eggs, sausage, muffins, toast, waffles, fruit, etc. Really close to the walking bridge to cross the freeway over to the Pier/beach!

Cons:

NO microwave in the room. I would have given the hotel an overall rating of 10, but for a couple disturbing instances. 3 separate times we heard someone trying to open our door with a key card. First was a couple who were apologetic when I opened the window to question them (it must have been a front office error). The next morning we heard it again. I peeked out and saw a women trying the door. She walked away, and I proceeded to watch her walk all the way out of the facility (not to the office!). The last time was one of the cleaning staff. Although communication was difficult due to language barrier, she basically said the office asked her to see if her key worked (which it didn't). Something really weird going on there..... I reported it to the front desk, but not sure if that went anywhere.

Best Western has rude check-in staff and outrageous prices that the quality of rooms don't match.
Cons:

The front desk pushed joining Best Western and then had the nerve to charge us $25 extra for signing in early. This was particularly bad when the room cost about $375 for one night.

The building looks like a motel, but the room is standard express hotel and the breakfast is great.
Pros:

Wi-Fi is fast and the room is clean. Breakfast is great.

The clerk at front desk looks very unhappy, like we owned her money.

close to where I needed to be in town but ultimately underwhelming.
Pros:

The room was just ok. The shower was ok.

Cons:

I didn't realize how close to the freeway my room was. The freeway was very loud and I couldn't keep the windows open because of the exhaust fumes. Very disappointing at a hotel so close to the beach. The breakfast was very disappointing. I also woke up in the middle of night very thirsty and had to walk in the middle of the night very far to the lobby to buy a bottle of water. A vending machine closer would have been much much nicer.
