Cameron, Ava and Yay where fantastic. Lovely bunch of worker. Really top notch service. I'm a really good golfer and the course was nice and challenging. Shame there was not any rain as the fairways where a bit harder than I am used to. Still shot a respectable score.

The golf clubhouse was amazing. Food and service was exceptional. Cameron Yaz and Ava are a true credit to the champneys brand. Would come back.

**Very disappointing experience – not what we expected for our wedding anniversary**

We booked Mottram Hall for our wedding anniversary on 26 June.

Sadly, the experience was extremely disappointing from the moment we arrived.

Before we'd even entered the hotel, we witnessed a guest who appeared heavily intoxicated fall into a bush while walking from the car park. Obviously the behaviour of individual guests isn't necessarily something the hotel can control, but it certainly wasn't the first impression we expected when arriving for what was supposed to be a special and relaxing anniversary celebration.

Unfortunately, things got worse once we entered our room.

The room was extremely small and unbearably hot. When I opened the window to try to get some fresh air, the view was absolutely shocking — **blue bins and dirty laundry directly outside our window**. We took photographs, and the hotel has since acknowledged our concerns about the condition and presentation of this area.

Quite honestly, it was not the view you expect when you've booked a stay at a hotel of this reputation, particularly when you're celebrating your wedding anniversary.

I immediately went back to reception to raise the issue. I have to say that **Charlotte genuinely tried her best to help us**. She offered another room, although it was very similar and only had a slightly better outlook, We appreciated that she was trying to find a solution, but by then it was approaching 9pm and we already had arrangements for the following morning, so these gestures weren't really suitable for us, also there was a wedding on and they took priority this was not mentioned during my booking.

We then asked to speak to the Duty Manager.

Unfortunately, the Restaurant Manager /duty Manager who came to speak with us, was particularly disappointing. During our conversation he repeatedly appeared distracted by what was happening behind me rather than giving his full attention to the guest standing in front of him. I actually had to point this out to him at the time. When you're already upset and trying to resolve a problem on what should be a special occasion, you expect to feel listened to and taken seriously.

We were left with the distinct impression that our booking was of lesser importance — particularly because we had booked through Booking.com at a discounted rate as we travel a lot for work ,the wedding taking place at the hotel appeared to be the priority.

Whether that was actually the intention or not, **that was certainly how we were made to feel**.

We've stayed in and visited hotels over many years, and having previously thought highly of Mottram Hall, it was particularly disappointing to see such a difference in our experience this time.

What should have been a memorable wedding anniversary was instead overshadowed by disappointment, frustration and a feeling that our concerns simply weren't being properly heard.

I requested a full refund.

Instead of ending our anniversary with a relaxing night away, we ultimately left and had **a 1½-hour journey home**. That's certainly not how we expected our wedding anniversary to end.

I don't normally write negative reviews, but I feel prospective guests deserve to know about our experience. If you're considering Mottram Hall for a special occasion, I would strongly suggest checking what your particular room overlooks and making sure you know exactly what you're booking.

For us, sadly, this was an experience that fell a long way short of what we expected from Mottram Hall, and an anniversary that we'll remember for all the wrong reasons.

I would also like to add that, whilst I appreciate your offer of a full refund for the stay, I am disappointed that there has been no gesture of goodwill or anything offered to acknowledge the fact that this was a very special occasion for my husband and me and that the experience was significantly affected by what happened.

We chose your hotel specifically to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and unfortunately the evening ended with us leaving the hotel and making the 1½-hour journey home. Given the circumstances and the disappointment caused, I had hoped there may have been some additional gesture or offer that would demonstrate that you genuinely recognise the impact this had on what should have been a memorable occasion.

Once again we had the most amazing trip to Champneys at Mottram Hall. We had a wonderful 3 night break where the staff cannot do enough for you, in particular Orla & Mahfuz went above & beyond with our lovely meals. The rooms, spa area & cafe are really lovely & we had the most amazing beauty treatments while we were there. I felt like we’d had a weeks holiday! I highly recommend & look forward to going again soon. Definitely 5 stars.

I had a lovely time at Barneys, Jemma and Helena were serving me - outstanding service they gave me a right laugh, really happy and friendly. A real credit to your staff!

I can’t thank Alicia one of the receptionists enough.

She was absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to help me book my treatments. She gave me great advice on which treatments would be best suited to me and explained everything thoroughly, which made the whole experience so much easier.

Her customer service was outstanding and she really made me feel welcomed and looked after. All of the team were lovely and provided such a high level of service.

I would definitely recommend Mottram Hall Spa and will be returning!

I attended Mottram Hall for my daughter’s wedding on the 12th August 2026. Mark A was the waiter for our table.
He was professional, friendly and courteous, he went above and beyond to make sure we all enjoyed the wedding breakfast. A big thank you to Mark A! 5 stars 🌟
