Champneys Mottram Hall

After staying here the rooms are very dated and dingy and not a very clean hotel could do with a good wipe round in the rooms plus walking up and down the hallways just a very dated place. I know it is an old hotel but could do witha good revamp and a lick of paint. The spa look nice but very overpriced considering you’re staying at the hotel wanted it nearly £60 for us take the family in there but only allowed to stay for two hours due to the kids having certain times looks a nice location, especially if you like golf, but we not be stopping here again

Really so impressed with Suzanne in the spa we have been members for a while and she is always so helpful and professional. Today was no exceptional thank you Suzanne :)

On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly lady on reception who took our luggage to leave with her until the room was ready. She then directed us to the spa. The staff there were so friendly and helpful. They showed us round and gave us a bag with flip flops, robe and towel. We then went to use the facilities and relax. We had lunch at the spa restaurant and the food was so tasty, the staff couldn’t have done any more to help and made the experience extremely enjoyable.
We had a short spa treatment booked in for the afternoon. This is the only disappointing experience we had. It was only a 20 minute treatment anyway and I had a young lady called Geraldine. She came to get me late and finished early, only giving me a head massage for 8 minutes in total! The massage wasn’t bad, as such, but very very short. The reason why I am not knocking off a star for this is due to the staff immediately rectifying it the following morning. Once we expressed our disappointment they were so apologetic and gave us both a complimentary treatment for the full 20 minutes. The difference in the massage was huge. I had a lovely lady called Lee, she was Amazing! I would book every day with her if I could! Lee talked me through everything, was so friendly and polite and was incredible at the head in the clouds massage that I had chosen, I left so rested and relaxed. The experience between the two ladies was worlds apart and made a huge difference.
The evening meal was also lovely, as was the breakfast. Very good quality food and cooked to perfection. The room we stayed in (suite) was spacious and comfortable. The beds were so comfy and we both slept like a log. We didn’t want to leave and will definitely go back.

I booked manicure and pedicure and was attended today(11/3/26)by the lovely , always smiling therapist Georgia. She was very competent and thorough with both treatments and I am very happy with the results. I would highly recommend Georgia and will definitely request her when I next book my mani/pedi at Mottram. The only small issue I had was the temperature of the treatment room. It was too cold.

We visited for a spa weekend to celebrate a special birthday with family.
The spa facilities are lovely and the treatment was superb.
Rodrigo in the poolside café bar gave exceptional customer service too all the groups.
Henrietta’s service at dinner was friendly and showed great attention to detail. 5* for both of them and for the reaction staff at the spa.
The hotel rooms themselves were fairly tired and in need of renovation and we were disappointed to see the mirror in one or the superior rooms we’d booked specially was cracked.

Gorgeous time at Mottram Hall for a Spa day. Rodrigo provided an excellent service at the spa bar, the food at Raffaelos was amazing. I would return 10/10!!

Overall lovely stay, Rodrigo was very attentive and very welcoming and made a good brew :)

Stayed for 1 night as a couple in February 2026. The room was fine, with plenty of mirrors, sockets and lights. Also more than enough wardrobe space, with 2 easy chairs. a side table and writing desk. The bedside tables also had shelves so there were plenty of places to leave stuff, and the room had a feeling of space, even if a little jaded.. The beds were comfortable and the room temperature was just right. The grounds are excellent, though a bit muddy in places. Breakfast was good, a buffet with choice (though no Earl Grey tea, though it is available in the room). The cocktail bar is delightful, though £6 for a bottle of Corona seems excessive to me. There is plenty of (free) parking and the staff are very pleasant and helpful. Overall an enjoyable stay, value for money at around £100 for the night, and would go back again.

The changing rooms, showers , toilets, steam room , saunas all spotless.

We had a lovely overnight spa break at Mottram Hall and couldn’t have asked for a more relaxing stay. The spa facilities were excellent — clean, calming, and perfect for switching off — and the food at both lunch and breakfast was delicious.
A special thank you to Tom, who greeted us for both meals. He was incredibly helpful, professional, and genuinely likeable. Nothing was too much trouble, and he made us feel so welcome. His warm, attentive service really stood out and made our experience even more enjoyable.

I was bought a one night stay for Christmas which I was thoroughly looking forward too. The hotel & grounds were so well kept but I found the spa a big disappointment. The loungers were very badly marked making me have to lay on my towel & dressing gown. The handrails around the pools were all rusty & I spent most of my day looking for an empty bed which wasn't very relaxing. I finally asked at reception if they could get me a bed. I was told they would send a spa team member through to do a sweep of towels left on beds. This didn't happen. There was a build up of foam (not bubbles) in the jacuzzis & the tiles were very dirty. It needs a big overhaul in my opinion. Saying this I had THE best facial from Helen & the food was lovely.

I visited for a spa day and overnight stay with my Daughter and we were thoroughly spoiled. The spa is possibly the best I have ever visited with genuinely extensive facilities and really lovely touches like the cabanas and the bar close by!!!

We had lunch in the spa restaurant which was lovely, and a fabulous massage each later on. I just wish we'd left more time to chill as you could spend all day using the facilities.

Our room was really lovely, and we have a great meal in the main restaurant that night. Food and service were excellent, my only suggestion would be to turn the lights up a fraction as it was rather dark! Afterwards we had cocktails in the bar and the guy making these definitely knew his stuff!

All in all this was a wonderful and relaxing stay and we will certainly be visiting again. Hopefully we can visit next time in the Summer as the grounds and gardens also looked beautiful but we didn't have the weather to explore!

The pools sauna and Jacuzzi were all lovely . But the beds struck us when we walked in how dirty they all seemed .The cream cushions were very grubby.
The food was lovely in the restaurant but the restaurant and cafe area weren’t very warm when you are in a damp costume and dressing gown .
We still enjoyed our day .

I absolutely love Champneys! Every time I visit, I’m impressed by how clean and well-maintained everything is. The facilities are fantastic — it’s such a relaxing environment and you can really switch off and enjoy the whole experience.

I especially wanted to mention Rodrigo who served me at the spa bar/café. He was incredibly friendly, polite and welcoming from the moment I arrived. Such a great member of staff — funny, attentive and made me feel really comfortable. Customer service like that really makes a difference to the overall visit.

I’ll be coming back to this specific location based on his service alone!
