Fantastic venue as we got married here in 2015 we have been back on numerous occasions! Henrietta in “Carrington Grille” was fantastic and gave us a great decision for our dessert Thanks Again
Cannot recommend this place enough! Thank you Jessica for my beautiful nails! Best they’ve ever looked. She was friendly, professional, and made the experience very relaxing. Highly recommend
I had a lovely pedicure with Jessica at Mottram Hall on Thursday. She was warm, professional, and made the whole experience really relaxing from start to finish. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again
Sophia and the rest of the team at the restaurant were amazing, service and quality of food was exceptional. The gym was functional and the spa facilities were great. Highly recommend and would come again.
Had a lovely time at Mottram Hall, there were plenty of facilities and everything was very clean, tidy, staff were all friendly. The manicure with Jess Broster was exactly what I needed! She was so lovely and my nails still look immaculate almost 3 weeks later!
After what has been described by our combined families and friends as a `Fantastic` Wedding Event, may we very personally thank you Netty and the Events Team for advising and organising every detail that made our plans and aspirations manifest into what was truly an amazing celebration party!
From Reception, Bar staff, Chef/Catering team and all Operations interaction, our compliments to the professional, friendly but megga efficient Champaney’s team throughout, a splendid delivery that exceeded our expectations but managed to keep the chillout vibes throughout the proceedings from check-in to check-out - that was a winner for all concerned.
Much appreciation to Anna & Peter for their contributions making sure everything ran to plan with minimum intervention that was the key note to an excellent Champeney’s Mottram Hall wedding experience.
We are very happy for you to quote any of the very well deserved compliments above as an endorsement to the Hotel’s high standards delivered.
Sincere thank you for everything
We had a great stay at Mottram hall - spa facilities were clean and not too busy. We were really happy with lunch and dinner, we had particularly great service from our waitress Amy W at dinner in the carrington grill.
We just had a one night stay including dinner, bed and breakfast. Mottram hall is set in really lovely surroundings… very peaceful. The hotel was lovely and warm as soon as we entered. All staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a standard room which was more than adequate with everything in it that was needed. The evening meal was delicious and plentiful as was the breakfast. We left feeling really relaxed.
I recently stayed at this hotel and overall had a mixed experience.
Some of the staff were really welcoming and approachable which gave a good first impression. The inside of the hotel was stunning and very well designed. The gardens were also lovely and added to the calm atmosphere especially as it wasn’t busy during our stay.
The room had everything we needed including body wash, hand wash, a kettle with teas, coffees, milk and bottled water. The bathroom products were a really nice brand which was a nice touch. The restaurant food was lovely and our server(Jason) was amazing. He was friendly approachable and honestly a 10 out of 10.
The biggest downside was the cleanliness of the room. It clearly had not been cleaned properly. There was a pair of dirty socks left on the side, dust around the room and a random hanger partly under the bed. The bathroom had lots of long black hairs in the bath and shower. The drain was clogged as the water rose over my feet after a short shower. There was also a hair in one of the glasses which put me off using them.
Dinner service was also disappointing. The food was nice but took a very long time to arrive and people who arrived around 15 minutes after us had their orders taken before we were even offered water or asked to order.
Overall the hotel is beautiful and has a lot going for it but for the standard it claims to be the cleanliness and service really need improving.
I had a lovely manicure with Jess on Thursday. She was very friendly and finished off my treatment with a lovely hand massage.
We attended mottram Hall for a spa visit and overnight stay, and to celebrate a birthday. We had an incredible time, all the staff were extremely attentive and thoroughly spoilt us! They went beyond any expectation. Jason was the star waiter, very personable and knowledgable. The food was fantastic, would highly recommend!! There’s nothing we could fault about the whole experience
Had a lovely spa day. Spa lovely. Rooms, spacious. Food in restaurant- AMAZING Tuna steak and prawn recommend.
Jason great server. Very attentive and knowledgeable on menu and fast.
Dear Sarah,
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for arranging the complimentary spa day for me. I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoyed the experience from start to finish, and I’m very grateful for the opportunity to return and see Mottram Hall for what it truly is.
From the moment I arrived, I received a very professional and warm welcome from the reception team. Everything was explained clearly and thoughtfully, and I was shown to the changing rooms, which immediately set a relaxed and reassuring tone for the day.
My treatment with Carina was excellent. She was extremely professional and created such a calming, relaxing experience. I really appreciated being offered the opportunity to upgrade my treatment, there was plenty of time, nothing felt rushed, and the upgrade was absolutely worth it. It was also very thoughtful that the team informed the restaurant I would be running around 15 minutes late for my reservation.
I also took advantage of the 30% discount on spa products, especially as you stock the items I already use, which was an added bonus.
I must say, the restaurant experience exceeded my expectations. I had anticipated this being the area that might struggle, but I couldn’t fault it at all. I was welcomed and seated promptly, drinks and food orders were taken quickly, the menu options were very good, and the portions were generous. There were plenty of staff on hand at all times, and the manager clearly had everything running smoothly.
The spa facilities themselves were clean and very well maintained throughout the day. Staff were consistently on top of clearing wet towels and cleaning areas, which is often something that gets overlooked elsewhere, but it was handled brilliantly here.
Overall, the day was incredibly relaxing, and I will definitely return again in the future. Thank you once again for allowing me the opportunity to revisit and experience Mottram Hall in such a positive light. It truly made all the difference so thank you again!
Best Wishes
Lauren
Average stay at this hotel, the room was nice, the food was also lovely we did have to pay extra for the spa, although our trip started well unfortunately at around midnight, the fire alarm went off, and carried on going on and off for around two hours. Not once did a member of staff come and tell us it was a false alarm or come and check if anyone was ok, this caused us to have a lack of sleep and also caused us stress. There were many other guests of the hotel also standing outside their rooms wondering what was going on. This was extremely unprofessional & distrurbing. The hotel wasn’t cheap so we felt like it ruined our evening. We contacted the hotel to complain and after days of waiting we heard back just explaining why it went of, they declined giving us any compensation which is really disappointing due to our night being ruined due to the fire alarm going off for hours. Will not be returning after this incident
I used the gym and spa, was extremely happy with the welcoming and wonderful receptionist Anna Bishop. Couldn’t speak highly enough of her, she was happy, helpful and most importantly kind.
Lovely stay everything was amazing from check in food room and spa
The only downside was that we had to pay extra for the spa
Anna Bishop at Mottram Hall is an absolute credit to the team. Her professionalism is exceptional, and her work ethic truly sets her apart. From the moment you interact with her, it’s clear she takes immense pride in her role and goes above and beyond to ensure every detail is handled with care and efficiency. Anna is approachable, knowledgeable, and consistently delivers a level of service that makes guests feel genuinely valued. Her positive attitude and dedication do not go unnoticed, and she plays a huge part in creating the high standards and welcoming atmosphere that Mottram Hall is known for. An outstanding member of staff in every sense.
Stayed here for a weekend break rooms were lovely and clean. The guy on reception took a minute to notice we were there but very pleasant check in. We got a bit lost but the lady we met in the corridor offered assistance. Food breakfast and evening meals very nice. We enjoyed
We were on overnight spa package.
Arrived at about 11am checked into the spa Gail was so helpful showing us around and booking into the last spot on the Elemis workshop.
We started the day with a gym session which was well appointed and clean.
We then headed into the spa to use the pools, steam sauna etc. The facilities are great I just found all areas could be a bit cleaner and better maintained.
Lunch was included in the spa restaurant and thanks to Thomas for looking after us, good choice of options and very tasty.
I had a Champneys Body Ritual which was very relaxing but nothing to write home about.
We headed to check into the hotel about 5pm, the room was ok, could definitely do with a deep clean (coffee stains on the bottom of door, stains on the blind, marks on walls etc) and freshen up, especially the bathroom, the tv remote was filthy and TV itself old.
Dinner in the Carrington Grill was lovely and Amy was very helpful in checking what I could have from the menu as I’m Gluten Intolerant.
Breakfast whilst not the most spectacular spread, had a good selection of fresh fruit, smoothie, the usual hot items, pastries etc. It would be nice to have the option at least for different eggs as there were just scrambled on offer. I was able to get some Gluten free toast when I asked which was good.
Overall a good stay and lovely staff just could do with a bit of TLC in areas.
We stayed at Mottram Hall from December 21st to December 27th. 2025. We had previously stayed in 2024 and I left a glowing review - so we booked and stayed over the same Christmas period 2025 - I am writing this review because I use Trip Advisor often and book based on peoples reviews and I think it is unfair to write a glowing reference one year and not correct it when the experience has been so bad.
The hotel management has changed since 2024 we learnt during our stay and this is what has changed:
1. You cannot contact the hotel directly - I spent over 50 minutes trying to talk to the hotel only to find out there is no direct line to the hotel you have to go through Champneys and they stop working at 6 pm - they also do not seem to be aware of what the hotel can do versus what the head office can do - eg early check in - depending on why you may need to contact the hotel this can be very frustrating - you can email the hotel direct but you cannot call the hotel direct.
2. Cleanliness - compared to 2024 the hotel was not clean and it was also fairly tired looking.
3. Our room - I booked exactly the same room I booked in 2024 - we had no issues with the room in 2024 - it was the most expensive room in the hotel the honeymoon suite - I booked the same one for this stay in 2025 - no fault of the hotel the guests above us did not know how to behave however the management decided that we had to move rooms not the people who were behaving badly. We experienced 3 rooms during our stay - they all have issues with noise. This is not a quiet hotel.
4. The food was really disappointing - Christmas is an all inclusive affair it was lovely in 2024 - it tasted like a school meal in 2025
5. The staff - in 2024 nothing was too much trouble and the staff really seemed to enjoy their jobs - in 2025 the staff were doing you a favour if they did their job.
The hotel gave us 200 pounds back to compensate for us having to move our room - this really didn't compensate for the loss of 2 days because packing unpacking and moving took two days out of our stay.
I asked the manager of the hotel by email, as this is there preferred method of communication, why we were not refunded the difference between the room we booked and the room we stayed in. I have not received a response as of this posting.
