Great selection of hot and cold food. Loved the freshly made omelettes made to order. Bed was extremely comfortable. Friendly helpful staff and location was good as the hotel opened onto a level walkway alongside the beach. Plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance

Cons:

We were surprised that there was a limited amount of freshly prepared fruit at both breakfast and dinner. We have stayed in this hotel previously, when there was more variety. Also no serrano ham which was strange, in a Spanish hotel. There were no signs above all the different dishes to indicate potential allergens, which caused some difficulty for my husband who has a severe food allergy. There was a small notice saying to speak to the chef about allergies - however it was difficult to get near him due to the large numbers of guests queuing there. Also, he would have had to walk the whole length of the restaurant to explain which dishes on the buffet were safe for my husband to eat. Almost all other hotel and restaurants we have stayed in, in Spain and other countries, have potential allergens clearly labelled. These are usually with a small picture of each one and a coloured coded index to relate to. As the Sabinal is such a large hotel this was very surprising to find no such labelling. We would like to return as we did enjoy our stay there, however we do have serious concerns regarding eating in the hotel. We understand that guaranteeing a food is "safe" to eat is not always possible due to potential cross-contamination. However if we were made aware of those foods that do contain a certain allergens, then it is easier to make an informed choice as to what to eat. Hoping that potential allergen labelling is something the hotel management will introduce now.
