I would look at other options before booking again.
Pros:

The location was great, however, there is a construction going on next door which is extremely loud and I was not told about this prior to traveling. It woke me up each morning and I wouldn't be happy if I had a sleeping baby.

Cons:

The staff were horrendous. I'd say there were maybe 3 staff members that were kind but I have never visited a place before with such miserable staff. I appreciate that not everyone loves their job but a little eye contact or a slight smile would suffice. I also hated that I contacted the property 4 times prior to traveling within 12 months of arriving and nobody ever replied. I also contacted booking.com and they did not respond. Luckily I had someone I knew travel there prior to my arrival to make the arrangements I needed otherwise I would have been screwed.

Disappointed
Pros:

Spent 9 nights at Mango Bay all-inclusive hotel at well over £300 a night. Food was average at best, but uninspired and uninspiring. Sometimes it was poor - especially desserts and pastries. Buffets lacked variety with a token salad bar. Service was haphazard - sometimes good, sometimes absent. Facilities OK - not 4 or 5 star - but there's no seafront free from motor boats and jetskis. Overall, not good value for money.

Decent Stay
Pros:

So a tad old in places and although we had a great room the New Years singer was really loud.
We arrived New Year’s Day and was ridiculously tired but she got us out of bed to watch an incredible fireworks display from a neighbouring hotel.
Evening meals buffet was superb drinks were flowing but ultimately we started to crash around 21.00🤷🏻

I guess the real question would I return - Yes

Horrible service; overpriced; Manager refused to even speak with us
Pros:

For $1000 a night our rooms were not ready until 2 hours after check in and their offered compensation was a one hour late check out, which was worth zero to us because our flight departure was in the morning. Rooms
Extremely basic and not worthy of the price.

Paradise Hotel and heaven on earth!
Pros:

Lots of returning guests as it’s charmingly beautiful. Clean, very helpful friendly staff, good management and really good 3 course table service lunch and diner. Breakfast from 7:30am and plenty of choice. This is our 4th visit to the place. We are looking already to book in 2026

Cons:

Other people’s poor reviews? Are they Bulgarian or Chinese due to not liking some foods? The food is top class!

Unexpectedly I was invited to attend a welcome return meal with numerous other repeat visitors and was a fabulous start to my holiday ,joined by the lovely and super hard working Issabelle I had a wonderful start to my holiday . All the staff I had the pleasure to meet are so friendly and take time to make you feel welcome ,a special shout out to the following Grafton,Annette and Maria, alli, Tionne, kyle Ronald ,Damien and Rayen ..all in there own way are part of why people love this place and feel at home .The food was lovely with a varied menu to suit all tastes the menu alternating with a la carte and buffet style . Snacks also available during the day and of course afternoon tea! Perfect location, perfect size hotel ,I will 100% be coming back .

Pros:

This is our 5th visit in 12 years therefore that should explain how nice this place really is. We got married here in 2017 which was an amazing setting for any wedding.

I can’t really think of anything.

Mango Bay Barbados needs a refurb is very Tired.
Pros:

The location is excellent, food was very good but the hotel and facilities are very tired as are the sun beds and cushions, we stayed in sea view rooms which were very tired room 212 and 213, the bath was yellow and the enamel was missing from large areas of the bath, we should of rejected the room from day one but we thought could get over not having a bath, it only got worse from this day, after a couple of days we returned to the room and it smelt damp and fusty, we then noticed the bed sheets were damp and there was a serious problem with condensation in the room , the glass tops had water on them and the walls were also wet along with the tiled floor, we then noticed there was a build up of mold around the ceiling arca trave and on the ceiling which had previously been painted over. we reported this and the manager came to the room and said you have to leave your air con all the time which i explained is not good to have air con on permanently , they changed the bed clothes and got house keeping to mop up the condensation and put the air con on full, i showed her the bath and the condition of the seal around it and the missing enamel and asked if she thought was acceptable? she said would deal with it.
The hotel food as very good but 75% of the staff were miserable and at times very rude, i have been to Barbados 6 times and this is by far the worst experience i have had of the Caribbean, my advise if you want to go to this resort is avoid sea view rooms 212 and 213 as when asked the cleaning staff they said these rooms always smelt of damp so they are fully aware of the situation.
At no Point did we get an apology for the condition of our rooms.

Return visitors
Pros:

We are regular visitors to this hotel and we can always say that our stay has been wonderful, I personally emailed them about my dietary requirements and they were very accommodating with it, also since we last visited the hotel there has been alot of updates on the rooms, the bar area and they've even changed the sunloungers ,they've even changed the way the tables are dressed for eating at each meal which is lovely to see, it was really nice to see old friends and and make some new ones ( staff) , my husband has always been a bit of a fussy eater and he tried almost everything on the menu at julians restaurant so thank you for that, it was nice to go back after such a long time and we hope to be back there again in the near future, we feel like mango bay is our second home even if we don't get there very often because the staff have always made us feel really welcome.

Loved it here. Be back next year.
Pros:

2 families here together (4 adults, 2 kids). Loved it.
Lots of other similar families with kids, all playing together in the pool and so close to the beach.
Loved the drinks in the bucket next to the beach to help yourself and the free water sports and boat. Buffet / Al la carte alternates between lunch and dinner each day with big effort to make sure the food isn’t repeated. Memorable staff such as Annette and Maria who were always cheery and happy and Rayden who brings drink round while your sun bathing. Music / entertainment every night. Great games room for the kids and all the people there were absolutely lovey. Great with kids. Can go off to different places easy or do nothing at all. No Prosecco included apart from a Friday or Saturday night at sunset.
If I could make any recommendations I would say staff can some times roll their eyes when you ask for a complicated drink/ or won’t switch the blender on until 10am for a milkshake even though it’s only 4 minutes until the start time. Ice cream is frozen solid and needs to soften for 20 mins before the can serve it. Also BBQ is very slow, probably needs more staff.
Despite a few niggles and maybe a few updates needed, we absolutely loved it and will be back next year without a doubt.

A lovely, relaxing place to stay
Pros:

Just returned from a 9 night stay at Mango Bay and would like to express my thanks to all the staff for their outstanding, friendly service. In particular Karon, Grafton, Maria, Ally, Xavier, Sabrina, Annette and Donelle in the restaurant, Isabelle the yoga teacher and the wacky dancing barman with odd socks (Damian?). Jacky the cleaner kept our room spotless every day. The service is a real highlight of the hotel .
The food was very good , varied and well peesented.
The beautiful beach front setting has the most comfortable sunbeds and the ever changing blue hues of the bay are mesmerising.
We also thoroughly enjoyed the free glass bottom boat trip with as much complimentary rum punch as you could drink- a great way to start the weekend!
The nightly evening entertainment was first class, especially Nicole Best and Eon.
Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a small, very friendly, beach front hotel in Barbados.

No more than 3 star rating.
Pros:

Disappointing experience was expecting 4 + star plus but definitely no more than 3 star .
Resort tired and disorganised . Bar area very small with inadequate seating for guests , bar service inconsistent with more staff during the day and less at night when more busy. Premium drinks are available but only a small selection, no fizz .
Guests are expected to sit outside with the nightmare mosquito situation on hard seats with no cushions and no bar service. If there has been a down pour tables and chairs are left wet. Tables are left cluttered with glasses and bottles and are rarely cleaned away .
Night time entertainment was particularly good , but enjoyment was offset by uncomfortable seating and with sun beds and mattresses stacked to the side in direct eye line.
Rooms are spacious and clean but look tired with marked furniture .
Food is overall quite poor and definitely not the standard you would expect from a 4 + star rating. Mostly served at the table with occasional buffet. A repeated menu with a lot of chicken , there are snack options, but a lack of communication as to where and when you can access snacks. Limited choice on buffet with bare essentials for salads, meats and bread options . Food is obviously served with a tight budget in mind. Tinned ham is served as a meat option! Plates and bowls are in short supply leaving guests waiting, only to find the waiter has brought only two to replenish the pile! Milk was often placed in cartons instead of jugs at breakfast and display cabinets for bagels and a cereal dispenser was broken with no turning handle.
Serving staff although pleasant, lacked direction by senior staff and stand around doing nothing while guests are left wanting.
We had a power cut whilst waiting for lunch and although this could not be foreseen , staff were unprepared with no plan B . We were left waiting for over 2 hours whilst staff didn’t know what to do, not even offering a sandwich for lunch .
Beach service was ok with a flag system , plenty of sun beds available and beach towels . However , sun bed mattresses were left stacked up outside in the rain. Beach attendants would not allow you to take them when wet, but how were they supposed to dry in a pile in the shade….madness.
I will not be visiting this resort again, I feel there was no attention to detail and no real consideration to the aesthetics of the resort or the comfort of the guests , so much more could have been done to improve this with more insight.

Cute hotel in a great location but awful staff
Pros:

Booked for a Pool View Room, was offered a Room facing a wall and trees (see first picture), had to complain, call hotels.com, and wait for 2h to get a proper Pool View Room (second picture)

Same issue next day at the restaurant, was proposed a terrible table by the road, furthest possible from the beach, asked for a beach table as there were 3 available, had to insist 3 times as the staff were complaining these tables were not ready, in the end took them 2mins to get them ready…

Good but not Great (currently noisy & dusty)
Pros:

Only giving this 3 Stars as not only is there building work next door almost non-stop with machines, diggers, concrete mixers, drills, jack hammers, grinders and a crane operating between 0600 and 1900 but Mango Bay itself was undertaking modifications to many rooms to add to the noise and dust. 12th time to Barbados but first time here, great location with plenty of places to walk too. Food, got to be honest was very average and evening meals were not great. The choice was limited and most of the time served warm, there is only one restaurant but loads of great restaurants in walking distance. Rooms nice and comfy but a bit dated, probably the reason so many of them were being renovated and we had no hot water for 3 days but did get another room to shower in a bit like walking to a shower block on a camp site as it was two floors down and had to take our toiletries with us. Beach and snorkelling amazing, with good walking routes both left and right out of the hotel. Staff, 99% amazing but always get those couple who let the side down. Bar had good service but only 2 different rums, really !! and did shut down a little early !!
Can't comment on the pool as never went in it. Gym small and compact but had running machines so I was happy.
Probably would go back but not sure what impact the great big hotel next door will do to the place when it's open re noise and amount of people on the beautiful quiet beach, it will be interesting to see what people write on here once it is open.
