Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Defiance by IHG

When it comes to picking a hotel I am not someone who cares about frills but what I do care about is cleanliness and quality of the hotel staff. As a former Disney cast member it takes a lot to impress me when it comes to employees, but wow was I impressed with the employees at the Holiday Inn Express in Defiance, Ohio! Every person I encountered from the front desk to breakfast attendant to housekeeping impressed me by always anticipating my needs and going above and beyond. The moment I left my room and realized I had left my key in the room a housekeeper happened to be right there and witnessed my forgetfulness and proactively helped me get back in without me even having to ask. Before shutting down the breakfast for the day the breakfast attendant approached my family to ask if there was anything more we wanted before she closed it. Most importantly, a housekeeper found my nephew’s beloved stuffed Elmo left behind in the room and notified the front desk employee who immediately called us to let us know so we could come back to get him. That is all in addition to how personable and pleasant to talk to all of the staff were and they were great with my nephew and niece too! Thank you Holiday Inn Express Defiance and keep up the great work!

The only negative thing I can think to say of the hotel is to be careful how you book it. We had two rooms. One was booked directly with the hotel but the other was not. We had thought we were calling the hotel directly to book the second room but somehow ended up with priceline which had stricter cancelation policies than booking directly with the hotel and caused some inconvenience when we wanted to modify the stay. So five stars for Holiday Inn and 2 stars for priceline.

Awesome staff members! Willing to share about restaurants and fireworks nearby. Clean rooms and great breakfast! Topped off by calling us shortly on our way home to say we left Elmo behind.

We always have a good experience when we stay here at the Holiday Inn in Defiance Ohio. Clean rooms, friendly staff, good breakfast, and we enjoyed the pool as well.

A high-pitched sound came from the bathroom at night. (Probably all the time, but most noticeable when trying to sleep.) Shutting the door helped, but it wasn’t good.

They were very accommodating as our family had to plan a last minute funeral trip. They allowed us to check out early (saving me a day expenses).

Beds excellent, front desk staff service was excellent. The breakfast was hot and delicious. Location was convenient.

Our room smelled of cigarettes. After asking twice we were finally moved to another room, which was nice.

The room was amazing. We called morning of and needed to get settled prior to our event time of 3pm, staff was able to accommodate our need with grace.
