"Lazy Afternoon Tea"
Pros:

This is not the review I expected to be writing and I did raise the issues with the hotel management who returned with a very mediocre, slightly patronising and incorrect response.
We booked the "lazy afternoon tea" for a special birthday and it wasn't great at all.
There were 2 of us and we were seated at a huge table which actually meant we were over 5' apart which is frankly ridiculous. Another couple were seated near us and we realised straight away that the seating was hardly conducive to a quiet chat, we would also have had to stand to reach items each time we wanted something and so we asked to move to a smaller table. It was explained that they would have to iron a new tablecloth and it was obvious that they hoped we wouldn't bother. However we gathered up the drinks and tablecloth from our table and with the help of the lady we sorted out new seats at a much smaller table in less than a minute.

The food came, we had already explained when booking that one of us was pescatarian. The 6 small sandwiches didn't contain meat which meant that you considered 3 small sandwiches and the cakes ok for one person. The tray with the savouries contained scotch eggs, sausage rolls and pork pies...much better ...if you ate meat! After a few mins we asked about veggie savouries and she apologised and said she would ask the chef. Three small pieces of the same veggie tart were brought. They were piping hot and probably microwaved but were delicious. It is quite a surprise that you expect the non-meat eater to be happy with 3 small sandwiches...the veggie tart was absolutely not going to be included until we asked.

Finally...the afternoon tea was part of the celebrations of a special birthday and when we asked for the cocktail menu we were told you don't do cocktails. Cocktails were on your menu though. We were incredulous that a hotel of that standing does do cocktails and have since been advised that they will include a small offer of cocktails going forward.

Half way through the event we had to go to the bar for drinks as no-one had materialised for some time.

We ensured we enjoyed ourselves and didn't allow their failings to spoil the afternoon....we didn't mention at the time as that would certainly have spoiled the afternoon so we emailed later.
Thank goodness this event was not the only celebration of the day! The hotel and grounds are stunning but our experience lacked the finer touch which it really shouldn't and based on that we wouldn't recommend or return.

Excellent Group Summer lunch get-together
Pros:

Another excellent group summer lunch for 43 guests at the Imperial. Our special thanks to Georgia Campbell, events co-ordinator for her helpful communication & organisation skills. The lunch & pre reception served in the Ballroom was excellent thanks to Lewis restaurant manager and his team Jacob, Mika & Charlie who were very efficient & polite. - David IUA group

Rooms were very warm and AC did not operate properly. I was on the fourth floor and the AC was extremely noisy.

Gerne wieder
Pros:

Great hospitality and beautiful atmosphere
Pros:

A wonderful two-night stay at the Hythe Imperial Hotel Spa & Golf in May 2026. The warm hospitality and complimentary room upgrade made our visit even more enjoyable.
We were also lucky enough to witness a beautiful wedding during our stay, which made it even more memorable.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and look forward to visiting again.
