An extremely welcoming friendly, well run hotel where they look after you. Everyone working in the hotel from the receptionists to the cleaners and those working in the restaurant and bar were so lovely and worked so hard to ensure you were looked after and your stay was a positive one. The room was lovely (we had a room on the first floor with a little balcony looking out over the outside bar and pool). The pool and jacuzzi was lovely and refreshing and the pool area/ sunbeds a nice environment to relax (although towards end of our stay the new people arriving started the sun bed saving and then disappearing leaving them empty with a towel on all morning when there was no need). We were on half board so enjoyed the tasty 4 course meal each night and breakfast. Both were top notch with great variety. Rooms super clean and on the whole very sound proof (just the person in the room above us liked to drag their chair around at night!). We used the courtesy bus most days to take us there and back into Sorrento. Just down the road is an excellent swim spot from the beach club. €5 for a deck chair. The snorkling is amazing. Highly recommend this hotel.
Breakfast was spectacular! Buffet with something for everyone.
Just got back from an amazing week at the Hotel Caravel and Sorrento Italy. Second time there and as always an amazing time and experience. The place is perfect for a family holiday with nice hotel and pool. Great location too. The staff are absolutely amazing. The restaurant and food are a highlight
Thank you to Angelo and Antonio and the rest of the restaurant staff. You make our holidays amazing. Thank you all so much. Was sad to leave.
Rooms and hotel are very dated and in need of refurb . It’s a 3 star at best ! Plus side shower was really good powerful and the staff are friendly . Mini bus into Sorrento is a big plus . Bars bit expensive 6 euros for half of beer and 4 for a coke ! Breakfast limited to be honest . Tried to upgrade to better room but there all the same style just different size and different view .
Our second time at this gem of a hotel. Perfect location to n a very quiet area.
We did book half board and the two nights we dined at the restaurant the food was perfect. However, there are so many lovely restaurants to try that on this trip we chose to sample some of them. The biggest asset of this hotel are the staff, Angelo the Maitre D’ is just wonderful. One of the reasons we returned was due to his warm and welcoming nature.
We will definitely be back to Sorrento and we will very likely stay here again.
Thanks Hotel Caravel for a wonderful stay and we hope to see you again.
We stayed for 2 weeks at the end of June / beginning of July. We really loved everything about this hotel and every member of staff is exeptional. They truly did everything they could to make our visit so pleasurable. The hotel it spotlessly clean and the shuttle service taking you into Sorrento was fabulous. We stayed half board which is something we have never done before and we can honestly say that we thoroughly enjoyed every meal and we are fussy! Sant' Agnello itself was a lovely town with plently of shops and a couple of supermarkets . It has a train station and a good local bus service. If we decide to go back to visit the area again we would definitely choose to stay here, as it was simply perfect.
This is a really lovely hotel and we had a wonderful holiday.
It is a small and friendly hotel in tree lined street in a residential area of a town just 15 minutes walk from Sorrento or just a few minutes ride in the free shuttle bus that the hotel provides. It is just a 5 minute walk from a viewpoint overlooking the Sorrento coast and 5-10 minute walk from the town itself with small supermarkets, cafes and restaurants.
We stayed here for 11 nights in July as a family in 2 adjacent rooms. The rooms were very clean, bright and modern with excellent air conditioning (vital this time of year) although not much storage for your clothes as there was a wardrobe and just 2 small drawers each. We had an incredible view of Vesuvius, the bay of Naples and the residences of the local surrounding area.
The hotel has well tended gardens with some lovely seating areas outside. The hotel pool is small, but big enough and there were always plenty of loungers for everyone considering the small size of the hotel. There was often a musician such as a guitarist or singer in the evening who was lovely to listen to in the bar or outside. There are 2 sun terraces and the views from them were amazing.
The staff of the hotel are very warm and welcoming, friendly and helpful. We wish to thank Georgia, Roberto, Marilara and Alessia on reception who all spoke English perfectly and helped us with our various queries each day. Also thanks to Antonio, our shuttle bus driver who was always on time.
We stayed on a half board basis. The breakfast buffet was very nice but the 4 course dinners, chosen from a small set menu that changed every day were amazing. Angelo, the Maitre d’, was utterly charming and did everything he could to ensure you had a good meal. He even arranged for a Torta Caprese ( beautiful chocolate and hazelnut cake) to be brought to our table on my birthday. My daughters are vegetarian and he ensured that the vegetarian menu was brought to them each day and my one daughter ordered a tomato pasta dish each day that wasn’t even on the menu but which she had eaten the first day and enjoyed. The waiters were attentive, polite and helpful and we would like to particularly mention Anura and also Antonio, who was absolutely delightful and very funny with his entirely accurate English colloquialisms!
This was the first time we have visited Hotel Caravel but will most definitely be back. We heartedly recommend it.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at hotel caravel. The location in Sant’Agnello is excellent and it’s easy to get to Sorrento town centre with the free shuttle bus. Quiet by the pool with bar staff coming to take your drinks regularly. Breakfast was decent but Sorrento has too many nice restaurants for us to go for half board. The rooms were spotless and mini fridge restocked promptly, could do with slightly more storage space. Great value for money and would happily return. Dreadful with names but all the bar, restaurant, reception, and shuttle bus staff were brilliant!
My eldest daughter and I have recently returned from a lovely week at Hotel Caravel. We had a twin room overlooking the pool with a balcony which was welcome. We found the beds comfortable to sleep in and the bathroom ideal. Air conditioning was perfect. The pool area was just right for us. Not too busy and a quiet serene atmosphere. We always found a lounger. Towels were provided but perhaps take your own if you plan to go to the beach at the end of the road. The pool is the ideal size for this hotel and we particularly loved the jets near the stairs almost like a jacuzzi which came on every hour I think.
The hotel is spotless and welcoming. Entertainment is low key with different musicians over the week e.g. guitar player or singer on another night. Just right. The courtesy shuttle into Sorrento is ideal if you want to get into the town quickly. You can walk the route and we enjoyed this. It takes about 20-25 minutes with a steady stroll. You must book the shuttle.
I found the restaurant and the meals catered very well for our vegetarian diets. There were many options and every night there were some appetising options. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Hot and cold options and I could get used to the array of cakes on offer!
The staff were friendly and accommodating in particular the restaurant team.
We loved the area. We went by train to Pompeii - I’m happy to share information on how we arranged this. The Sant Angello station was very close to the hotel.
We took the ferry to Positano which was beautiful.
I’d return for sure.
Hotel Caravel is a beautiful hotel in a great location in Sant'Agnello, with easy access to everything. The hotel and its amenities are exceptionally clean, and all of the staff are friendly and helpful.
I would particularly like to mention Angelo and Antonio in the dining room, who looked after us throughout our stay. As a vegetarian, I really appreciated that they made sure I had a different meal every day.
We were especially impressed on our first night when we arrived at the hotel late. The chef had thoughtfully left dinner for us in the restaurant, which was a lovely gesture.
We chose the half-board option and ate at the hotel every evening. The food was authentic, delicious, and so good that we never felt the need to eat elsewhere.
There is a shuttle service to the town centre every half hour, which is very convenient.
I would highly recommend Hotel Caravel to anyone visiting the Sorrento area.
Had such a lovely time at this hotel, and what really makes it are the staff. They really want to make this hotel shine, and they certainly did that. Always a friendly face and a happy smile. We stayed for two weeks as we thought it was a good base for getting around Sorrento and the Campania area and it worked out really well as it was close to the train station but also just 20 minutes to walk into the centre or you could get the shuttle bus they put on regularly during the day which would save the legs. Big thanks to Carmela, our cleaner, who was fantastic - room was always spotless and she always had a smile on her face! And also to all the bar and waiting staff, particularly Angelo and Ninu who made our stay fantastic, always having a laugh and a joke but making sure we were looked after and also giving hints and tips for things to see and places to go. It was a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this hotel!
Hotel Caravel was in a great location, the free shuttle bus into Sorrento was so good and efficient.
The pool was Beautiful and we never had trouble finding a sun bed. The water was clean and warm.
The restaurant staff were absolutely amazing, all very friendly but Angelo and Antonio were outstanding.
I do feel that the food lets the hotel down, the amount of starters and first courses is varied, but main courses were a let down only offering a few dishes of not a great standard, some being obscure.
The room was very clean and our maid was excellent cleaning our room beautifully each day and getting us extra pillows as needed.
The drinks in the hotel were a little pricey, as were the lunch options.
The entertainment was okay, but the barman insisted on telling the guitarist to quieten down when he actually had people engaged with his music.
Overall a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location, could have been perfect with a better menu.
My husband and I recently returned from a 10 night stay here and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.
What really makes this hotel special is the excellent hospitality. All of the staff were friendly and helpful, particularly in the restaurant. A special mention goes to Angelo, who was always welcoming, professional, and made us feel very well looked after (while also appreciating my husband’s attempts at speaking Italian!)
Room
Our room was a good size, with plenty of storage, and was kept spotlessly clean throughout our stay with clean towels whenever required.
Food
The food was one of the highlights of our stay. Breakfast offered a good selection, including hot food, bread, pastries, cakes, cereals, yogurt, and fresh fruit. You can also order omelettes and fried eggs, along with your choice of coffee or tea, and the cappuccinos were excellent. The hotel serves a four course evening meal, and the quality was consistently very good. We enjoyed it so much that we chose to eat at the hotel on most evenings rather than going elsewhere.
Facilities
The swimming pool area was also excellent. The pool itself is a good size, and the attached spa pool was a lovely bonus. There were always plenty of sunbeds available, so it was easy to relax without needing to reserve one early. The surrounding gardens and seating areas are kept immaculate. There is evening entertainment most nights, which, although low-key, was perfectly enjoyable.
Location
The hotel is in a fantastic, peaceful location, just a 15–20 minute walk into the centre of Sorrento. Before travelling, we had read a few reviews saying the road into town was very busy and unpleasant to walk along, but we honestly found it absolutely fine and had no issues walking in. The hotel also offers an excellent free shuttle bus, which can be booked in advance, and we used this a few times as well. Sant’Agnello has a few restaurants and bars just a very short walk away, which we found to be very good and reasonably priced.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return to Hotel Caravel on our next visit to Sorrento.
Loved this hotel !! Staff were excellent especially the dining staff. The main manager Angelo was amazing super friendly and very accommodating. Overall the value for money is great, Dinner was great and so was breakfast.
I would highly recommend this hotel if you’re coming to Sorrento. Will definitely be coming back in a few years time.
Thank you for a great holiday :)
Convenience and availability of the shuttle
This hotel was advertised as small and friendly and that is exactly as we found it. The hotel location was great for us, situated just on the northern edge of Sorrento in the area of Sant Agnello, it was nicely away from the hustle and bustle of central Sorrento. We were at the time of booking a little apprehensive about it being slightly out of the centre, but it’s only a 20 minute walk into the centre and more or less flat all the way. If you do have mobility issues or don’t fancy walking, the hotel runs a great free shuttle.service throughout the day and evening, which is easily booked at reception.
The rooms were traditional, clean and had all the facilities you would expect. The rooms were cleaned each day and we never encountered any noise issues during our stay. The clientele were usually couples and of various nationalities. The staff throughout the hotel were very friendly and helpful. A special mention must go to Angelo (front of house) and all the restaurant staff who we found extremely friendly and very organised both at breakfast and for the evening meal. The food was very good and varied and we were pleased with our decision to go half board.
The hotel swimming pool was a civilised affair, no getting up and reserving sunbeds with towels. We went at various times of the day and always got loungers. In the evening, entertainment was of a low key nature, but still enjoyable.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Caravel and would definitely come back. It was a perfect base for Sorrento and trips to Capri, Pompeii, and the Amalfi coastal towns.
Great little hotel, 20 mins walk to centre or the shuttle bus is an added bonus and runs all day. Room was clean and comfortable, pool area nice, plenty of loungers available. Breakfast was good with choice of cereals, pastries hot and cold items. Eggs to order. All staff were great, inc on reception, and in the restaurant. My only negative comments would be not enough staff serving drinks and food around pool some days and evening meal, while a lot to choose from was a bit basic at times and felt a bit like school dinners!
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff were always friendly and helpful, and the overall atmosphere was relaxing. The location was also great and made it easy to explore the area.
A special thank you to Antonio, the shuttle bus driver. He was incredibly kind, welcoming, and always made us feel comfortable. He is an excellent driver, and every journey with him felt safe and enjoyable. He really made our stay even better.
We would definitely recommend this hotel and would love to come back!
Great place to stay, staff are amazing, food is excellent, free coach to and from Sorrento town centre is a bonus.
