Lovely location
When we arrived at check in (3pm), there was a wedding on, which the whole wedding party where in the reception area whilst taking photos at the front entrance. Very off putting as they were noisy, drunk and kids messing about. The look on the guests who checked in, said it all. We left and demanded a full refund.
Little
The rooms were small and tired. The bed was small. The spa was noisy and having renovations. The food was of a poor standard. The staff in the restaurant seemed poorly trained. The fire alarm went off at 11.30 at night.
A beautiful building & very nice room. Very pleasant staff & nice decor. Set in a very nice location too.
This was a very nice hotel, the only thing that let it down was in the bedroom on the floor was a used wine glass (still with wine in it) from the previous occupier. Also still stuck on the wall with sellotape was the previous occupiers “40th birthday” banner. The only other thing was the bathroom sink had quite a bit of hair in it. I can only imagine a cleaner has wiped the sink with a cloth that was already covered in hair & didn’t see the leftover. The hotel had a complete power failure (not really the hotels fault) & was in darkness for a few hours so no restaurant for the evening. Disappointing but could not be helped.
Location and the spa
Rooms were good but need updatiing.
No coffee in room and ironing board was really stained and worn
Bed was comfy
No spaces for spa available , no spaces in restaurant had to go another restaurant , tv didn't work properly , rung reception and was told someone come to room but never came tried to ring 3 times again no answer , rooms not the best , wasn't worth the money
Staff were lovely, lots of people checking in at the same time but very efficient. Room was fine, breakfast was good, bar and resturant area was quite cold. Very old building but parts could do with some TLC, a bit of a revamp, especially the conservatory area of the bar and it exceptional cold in there, cold day no heating on, and although it was too wet and cold to go outside, the outside area could do with some TLC. We attended for a wedding, room was set out lovely, food was nice, staff were nice. Overall pleasant stay. We didn't use the Spa
Some TLC to areas, the conservatory area look tried and could have done with a clean especially around the radiators, also cold day and no heating in the bar and an especially cold draft coming through from reception area into the bar.
We were booked into a double room but on arrival the room was a twin and they couldn’t swap up. The shower was blocked so we couldn’t even use the shower and due to a wedding being on they couldn’t move us room. Whe we went for dinner they moved us 3 times and the service was terrible.
Our stay at Shrigley Hall was genuinely lovely, even if we managed to miss a few of the amenities. We did a one‑night stopover with twilight spa access and a warm balm back, face and scalp massage — highly recommend that combination.
The room was a surprise in the best way: far bigger than expected, with two bedrooms, a bathroom and a proper living area. The bed was great, the bathroom was finished beautifully… but the overall cleanliness of the suite let it down. Stained carpets, skylight windows that didn’t really want to open — one looked like it would come off in my hand, so I left it well alone.
On the plus side, all the in‑room bits (towels, robes, fans, hair dryers) were spot on. And the spa? Absolutely outstanding. The outdoor heated infinity pool is the star of the show, and being able to sit there with a drink overlooking the views is exactly the kind of life I want. Steam room, sauna, indoor pool, jacuzzi — all brilliant. The massage was sensational; I’m already plotting my return for another.
Overall, a very relaxing stay, just slightly overshadowed by a room that needs a bit of TLC and a fresh coat of paint. Breakfast was exactly what you’d expect — good quality, plenty of choice — though the dining areas could do with a refresh. The building itself has so much character that it doesn’t need plastic flowers and filler décor. Strip it back and let the heritage do the work. Less really is more.
I’ll definitely be back.

Spa was nice
Hotel its self needs looking after abit more. Staff behind desk un helpful and rude. Manager was polite and respectful. The room i booked specifically the warren suite due to the size as had partner and baby need room for cot and stuff, the room had a lock issue so i raised it with staff after waiting 2 hours and 6 key cards back and fourth up stairs and down stairs, they offered me a new room i said yea no problem im easy enough i wasnt really too un happy with this at the start (only an hour waiting at this point) i understand these things can happen but anyway the room they offered was a third of the size checked online looked like double rather than delux could fit the cot in but lost that side of the room much much smaller so i raised it with reception staff they argued about how its a delux room honestly there was no comparison im saying im happy to move but need a bigger room they told me "well what do you want me to do" i replied give me my money back. Manager came offered me to stay in warren room but they have to let me in everytime i said i suppose it will do but after waiting 10 mins for him to unlock it the first time I thought it just didnt feel like was best idea while having the baby just on the off chance, nor did i want to have to wait till their free to let me in so after an hour drive there and 2 and a bit hours waiting didnt even end up staying there wasted money would never book there again rooms need dusting also. Id give the manager 5 stars tho he really did try but the reception staff was rude , an older lady was having wifi issues she just rude as ever said to her its not my issue the wifi works im not here to sort it out for you i thought yea i suppose she's not tech support but not the best way to go around it especially to elder people. Partner drove up the next day and went to the spa tho she enjoyed that
Location and views are stunning
Feel the hotel is dated, whilst entrance lobby is beautiful and venue rooms the same, the hallways and bedrooms are very dated. Lights in rooms don’t work. Ceilings was cracked and some walls were damp. Feel like it’s needs a coat of paint to freshen it up. Room was cold had to leave heating on full just to warm too up as it was off on arrival. Breakfast wasn’t the hottest. Drinks were very expensive.
Wow, perfect stay hotel was lovely and the staff were very friendly. Spa was great way to relax followed by a lovely evening meal and drinks. The room was a great size and offered everything that you would expect. Breakfast was just as good with plenty of hot and cold options available. Could not fault our stay in anyway.
Room was very good.
Evening meal was excellent.
Quite a distance taking cases to the room
