The hotel I stayed in Venice in 2023 was small and amenities in the room are harder for me to use. This time around, I started with low expectations and Hotel Rialto exceeded in every way. I feel comfortable recommending this hotel.
What I liked:
1. It has an elevator. Not all Venice hotels have elevators.
2. Great location, right next to Rialto Bridge, a centrally located location for you to explore all six districts in Venice by foot or by boat. You have water taxi, ACTV (Vaporetto, Venice's waterbus), water bus, Alilaguna, connecting Venice's Marco Polo Airport to Venice all have stops here. Not to mention countless restaurants and shops nearby. You can go from fine dining to self-service quick bites. There is also a supermarket called Despar nearby.
3. I communicated things I need for them to prepare before my arrival that are nonstandard, and they got them already by the time I got there, nothing less. They delivered in every aspect. Many things I did not think it's possible because it's Venice, everything is by boat and manpower, but somehow, amazingly, they made it possible.
I was expecting to have to go through the same ordeal as last time in 2023, but I did not have to raise any issues after checking in and the housekeeping/porter walked the room with me. Minor issues they got them resolved quickly. After that, it was pretty much a hassle-free experience.
4. Breakfast buffet has variety. When in Venice, I strongly recommend you get the breakfast, that way you have a eaten, and can start your activities right after. Finding breakfast or pastries on your own may not be as easy as you are in the mainland.
5. The entire team were courteous and professional from kitchen to front desk; except the person who I spoke with in the evening of Jan 31, 2026 about water parade, he appeared more impatient, but after that I never saw him again.
6. They have lots of places to hang clothes and the clothing do dry overnight, their heating system was excellent.
7. Excellent water pressure and shower temperature.
8. It's a large hotel, perhaps one of bigger ones, likely own up the entire block, but they managed well and keep the traffic flow manageable. And the signs are clear and easy to follow, so it does not feel like a maze.
Other things to know:
1. Like most hotels in North America and Europe where buildings are made out of woods, not concrete, the soundproof between walls are weak and poor. This one is no exception, but guests mostly thoughtful and considerate to keep the volumes down most of time.
2. You can't get more convenient than this hotel if you want to stay in Venice.
3. Things are pricy in Venice, for a very valid reason, because of manpower/labor that goes into moving things from food/ingredients, trash removal, and many more. Please be a good guest and take good care of all facilities in Venice. Be thankful that the Italians are still willing to open and share this precious city with the rest of the world to enjoy and see.
4. To see Venice, you must have a visit strategy. Based on what you want to see, then you look for lodging that works for you. But if you don't have a strategy or don't have any in particular, then, a hotel in Rialto Bridge area, such as Hotel Rialto is an excellent choice, it puts you in the center of everything, all within equal distance more or less.
Excellent location only a few minutes walk from St Marks square / Doges Palace / Correr museum etc.
Rialto water bus stop is right outside.
Bedroom and shower room was very clean.
The hotel room decor is in the Venetian style.
Receptionists were all very friendly and extremely helpful.
Breakfast was great.
Perfect hotel for a city break with shops, bars and restaurants close by.
Classic Room:-
*Pillow was too firm - just about bearable.
*Extra blanket was in the linen box in the room - if needed.
* USB port on the dressing table
My second stay at this hotel as a solo female traveller. I stayed at the Ca’ Rialto room 502. Everything was very clean and the shower water pressure is excellent.
I asked for extra pillows for the bed and room slippers which were provided with no issue.
I like the fact with the Ca’ Rialto that you don’t have to go through the reception to enter and exit the building. It has its own separate entrance.
Room was quiet and served its purpose. This is my go-to Hotel when I visit Venice. It is also very competitively priced. Superb location for the Ali Laguna transfer straight to the airport and from this hotel you can walk pretty much everywhere.
I have breakfast at the nearby cafe `Rosa Salva, just in front of the San Salvador church, and lunch/dinner at Rosticceria Gislon which is also very close by.
Thank you for another wonderful stay.
Great location, although in a very busy area with lots going on and a little noise. Room was lovely, comfortable and very clean.
All staff were friendly and knowledgable giving good tips on places to eat off the beaten track.
A really good experience
Fantastic location with easy access to all major attractions. Generous size rooms that were clean. Breakfast in the morning had a great selection to choose from with the staff very attentive to make sure things never ran out. The front desk staff were very efficient and friendly and were always willing to assist. We would stay here again
Its a pretty old hotel. Very good location, easy to get to from the train station. But the bathrooms were old, had a lot of mold in the shower area. There was a lot of disturbance from the streets, very noisy around 4 am in the morning. This hotel is definitely not worth the price.
Italian people are not quiet, the room we had was on first floor and evenings and early mornings were extremely loud even with the window closed it sounded like they were yelling at each other setting up the stalls beside the hotel, desk stafff and restaurant staff were all amazing and very informative of the area for transportation and food suggestions
The greeting and helpfulness of the staff was exceptional.
Our stay was excellent. Thank you
It’s an older property that appears to be maintained nicely. The hotel boasts of “having a unique experience” when staying here. They are correct. It is very unique especially if you are accustomed to modern-looking hotels. The bathroom is modern, but tiny and the furniture reminds me of a doll house from my youth.
Staff super friendly, very helpfull. Hotel well located a few meters from the Rialto bridge.
Awesome location! There you go, that's my 1 plus. Yes, Venice is old but this hotel I think was last updated when Venice was founded! Very rundown inside (don't let the pics of the exterior fool you like it did me!), seriously outdated. Rundown carpet, tiny bathroom. No outlets (had to get an extension cord to plug into the bathroom just to charge my phone) in the walls or around the bed. Had to take the elevator up 2 floors & then carry my bags up 2 more flights of stairs!! Bed was seriously uncomfortable. Breakfast was ok. If location is all you're concerned with, enjoy your stay. But if you want anything like modern conveniences then look AND BOOK elsewhere!
Rooms could use some updating… bathroom was very nice… being by boat taxi made it very loud outside, could hear people throughout night… front staff and breakfast staff was wonderful
Old venetian hotel in convenient location. They had good breakfast and luggage storage. Limited elevator but staff to help with bags. .
The roof top terrace is wonderful with an amazing view. A great place to relax and take in the atmosphere. The staff was great, accommodating and friendly. I was a little disappointed by the room itself, not a lot of space or place to open up luggage. The view from our window was a creepy back lane. The hotel itself was very strange.. stairs going up and down and all around.. there was no straight shot to your room. I have never experience anything like it. Definitely NOT a place for anyone with mobility issues. It was convenient to walk out the door on walk and have dining and shopping right there.
The hotel is right next to the Rialto Bridge so you can't get any closer. The views from our room were spectacular. The staff was excellent and there are restaurants and shops walking distance from the hotel. Will stay here again.
Not a horrible place. The location is central (far from the train but central to the surrounding things to do). The breakfast was very good. The hotel room was old, shower was tiny, and bed was uncomfortable. I know it’s an old city! But the carpet on the floor, the fabric walls, etc made it seem dusty and just not great when sharing a space with a previous guest. The worst part was the bellhop carried our bags down the hall and then opened his hand for a tip. My husband had €20 so he asked if the bellhop had change. He came back with 2 €10. Boy.. you did that on purpose but €10 for walking our bags 20ft is a bit much!!! He got his €10 but it felt super slimy and weird. We have yet to have that experience in the other hotels we stayed at! This was the worst hotel in the four cities we stayed at in Italy. If it wasn’t for location and breakfast I would give this place 2/5. I wouldn’t recommend. I’d find a better hotel. There are so many to choose from in Venice!
Great location and breakfast
Really great place to enjoy Venice for a couple of days. The hotel has a vaporetto stop just outside the front door. Its location is immediately next to the Rialto bridge, and is close to everything. The staff were very knowledgable and helpful. One fella on the front desk was a little “gruff”, but not enough too put a damper on things. The room was a little dated / historical. The bathroom had been recently renovated . While the area outside is very busy, it was surprisingly quiet inside, a good endorsement for the quality of the windows and shutters. We also enjoyed the panoramic terrace a couple of times to have a drink and “people watch”
Exelente customer service!
