Corridors and room smelt of cigarette smoke - corridors overpowering and room faint (but not ideal).
Nice clean and things to do
Heating not working
We booked a twin bedroom but a double room was allocated. Eventually they gave us a family room and the bed was nice.
The family room was nice but I think the room was a smoking room.
Easy to find good location
Bathroom was dirty
Carpets dirty and marked
Room cold
Very noisy
Expensive drinks in bar
Check in staff abrupt
Noisy bar and room
lovely clean club room - could do with more staff when busy , breakfast food could be hotter - staff are amazing and willing to assist when you ask them for help - although sometimes they are run off there feet
We had a lovely stay at the village for our anniversary trip, greeted with surprise Prosecco in the room from the house team and Cathy on gym reception was great at showing us all the facilities, will be returning
I’ve stayed here before every time I come to Warrington for work and never had an issue. True is that the rooms are a bit run down and it’s not the cleanest but it’s clean and comfortable enough to sleep and go to work.
However this time was disappointing due to noise. I checked in early and stayed in the room to work to find pretty much all afternoon someone talking really loud. I didn’t pay much attention thinking it was just an annoying guest next door. But I was woken up at around 6am by another person talking loudly and loud music, to realise the problem is the gym.
Avoid room 114 at all costs or you will not have peace and quiet for the whole of your stay. I’m a light sleeper and silence is key for me to rest so I will not be coming back to the Village.
Love the location and pool at the hotel.
Looking very tired and tatty now. We have been coming every year for 6 years and the paint was chipped in the room, bed was uncomfortable, bathroom in need of updating, carpets worn. Public loos awful and toilet seats not fitting properly.
We’ve always found Village Hotels of a decent standard and with good amenities, and this one is mostly the same.
We realised after our first night that the Club room we had been given wasn’t a proper Club room - it was a double pretending to be a Club by being given a coffee machine and chocolate biscuits. We requested to be moved to a proper Club room which was done with some argument - this had a king size bed rather than a double, a proper shower rather than one over a bath, and a lot more room. Still no sofa or chair though so there’s nowhere to relax except the bed.
The food at the pub is pretty good, but on all three occasions we ate there I requested a small change to my meal (no tomato on the burger) and all three times it was ignored. It gets very noisy and busy so you need to book.
Breakfast was also fairly good, and the gym and swimming pool are great to have.
Our bill couldn’t be closed on checkout and I was promised a phone call to resolve it which wasn’t received - just an automatic email later in the day.
Great stay would recommend and the gym facilities
