We appreciated the nostalgic feel of this fine Victorian hotel, as it has retained its original features. The Birkdake suite is spacious and clean, with high ceilings and sash windows. Buffet breakfast items were served hot, and replenished regularly. The nightly entertainment was very well-supported and enjoyed by the many couples staying there. Lots of repeat business from returning guests. Hotel has a peaceful ambiance, due to their choice of soft furnishings over laminate flooring. Staff are very friendly. Good on-site parking for £6 per night.
Our only niggle was the length of time you had to wait for the lift, especially when checking out with your luggage, but this was a minor issue.
Staff all were absolutely brilliant, especially Antionia on reception. But the other staff on were very good as well but she was outstanding. Staff in restaurant good. Things you requested were provided with good attitude and efficiently. Rooms clean towels and bedding immaculate very impressed and a little surprised.
Room which we were first given ok but not wonderful but executable.Oh it was 131 . But for what ever reason we unpacked and returned 2 hrs later and the stench was absolutely disgusting. It even transmitted into the corridor. We have no idea what it was but totally unacceptable . But returning to reception to report and obviously complain, it was sorted so efficiently and well by Antonia that you couldn’t complain in the least. She is such an asset to your company amazing. Ok it disturbed our plans slightly but she resolved it so effectively and quickly it hardly affected our timed appointments. Other than this stay was brilliant.
Great place. Value for money as well
The staff were friendly and helpful. It's a bit decaying grandeur but looks to be on the up. We've stayed there several times and would return.
Lovely room and in the perfect spot for us, nice and clean and comfortable, very quiet and the staff were amazing!
Nothing
Staff where amazing
Hotel room nice
Dog friendly
Poor food choice and if your vegetarian you have no choice
Poor bar selection of drinks hardly anything available
Heating was on full day and night too hot in all areas of the hotel.
The staff were very pleasant and accommodating, and the breakfast was pretty good. The location was pretty central in Southport too.
Very outdated and worn rooms. We came into a cold room as a window has been left open, I went to close it and it wasn't close-able. Not overly cold, but still. Rooms could be cleaner.
Hotel was walking distance for town and beach. The hotel was lovely and the staff member we spoke to regarding parking was very helpful and chatty
The Room was too hot even with the windows open, when we picked up our room key from reception we spoke to another member of staff who was sharp and never told us how to get to our room or what floor we were on we had to guest where we were staying
Lovely hotel. Obviously the rooms are very dated but I was pleasantly surprised because I expected a lower standard. I have stayed in some really nice hotels and I loved my stay here. I will definitely return.
Room was basic but clean, just needed a little love.Location is excellent. Breakfast is a bit pricey. Weatherspoons is across the road more choice and half the price
Single beds and they were a little uncomfy
Very good selection and choice
Location was excellent
Breakfast was what I expected
Cleaning of the bathroom was not as expected the bath had not been cleaned
Breakfast very good
We had to have a room change due to noise of lift right at side of our room very poor after asking for a quiet room
