Location and staff
Room was very small , only had 2 pillows had to ask for another 2 as were uncomfortable
all ok
no complaints
The beds were the hardest beds I’ve ever slept on, pillows were like a solid block, overwhelming smell of bleach in the room, room was cold and couldn’t control it yourself, very very dated overall
Mine was a single room that was relatively inexpensive. I think it was probably in what once might have been staff quarters as the short flight of stairs to it were definitely backstairs, but that didn't matter. My room was quite large, perfectly clean and had everything I needed, as did the lovely bathroom. The hotel's foyer, grand staircase and various other ground floor areas are stunning, and I wish I could have stayed longer to properly enjoy them. Parking is extremely reasonable at £5 for 24 hours that begin when you provide your registration number at check-in.
There really wasn't a thing that I could complain about--I just regret not being able to stay longer.
Our stay was perfect staff and hotel was great 👍
The rooms were clean and spacious, the staff were very friendly, beds were comfy
Their wasnt much too choose from on the menu
It's difficult to maintain and keep in character a building as old and large as this, although it looks like care, attention and finance has been put in place to keep this institution 'alive and kicking '
My room (232) had an odd smell. I kept the window open.
A good size for a single person although a low constant sound from some sort of air conditioning (I guess) outside.
The was just Great to relax
No rails in shower or bath to help
Lovely old hotel. The room was quite small but had everything you need. The bar was really nice with lots of comfy sofas. Lovely garden and lots of nice tables outside for a drink in the sunshine
Hotel is a bit faded and dated and could use a bit of painting and decorating, and getting around with like navigating a rabbit warren! The hallways were a bit dusty and could use a good carpet cleaning
Amazing building and great lawns and seating areas outside
Tired in places
The location and the staff were very nice and helpful
The fact I was told to wait an hour for bar food as there was only one chef after I had waited another hour and then ordered my food I was another hour waiting
Room was nice. great location for Buxton centre. parking was £5 for 24 hours
Only thing we were surprised with was the swimming pool. It was an additional cost on top of the room cost (£6 per person) but it also shut at 4.30pm on a saturday. when checkin was from 3pm it doesnt leave much time to go to the pool and chill before it was closed.
We didnt try on the sunday as we had to leave at 10am
Although on Friday night arrival, there were no carpark spaces, there's plenty of spaces around the streets and train station. The entrance to the lobby is nice welcoming. Looks clean. Easy access to lift. Quick check in. Enough sized bedroom for two single beds. Lovely bathroom. The view was really appreciated in the mornings... salomon temple, opera house, open peaks. Added extra night easy enough without swapping room. Helpful staff. Left happy.
I think more info such as the pool, sauna, and steam room opening closing times, but to be fair, it's actually not part of the hotel it's a separate franchise, and info is on their door. Breakfast wasn't anything amazing, tiny pastries and bog standard fry up and cereals.. super helpful Breakfast staff.. main plates should be in a more prominent position, mind you. I thought coffee and biscuits would get refreshed each morning? They didn't. There was only one change of towels over 3 nights.. better than none, though, I guess.
Amazing hotel in a beautiful place ❤️ our room was very spacious, clean and cosy with tall windows looking out to the front. Nice coffee machine, comfortable bed, couple of chairs and table, big clean bathroom with crisp towels and nice toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, hand soap and lotion). We will be back.
