The room was way too small, there was nothing to sit on, it was noisy, and the bed was extremely uncomfortable. There were also lots of homeless people around, and the street smelled awful—probably from people urinating there. Honestly, it was gross.

We also didn’t feel safe walking around at night because there were so many homeless people in the area.

I originally booked for 3 nights, but we decided to check out early because we couldn’t stand the smell in Little Italy. The hotel itself is fine and clean; it’s really the surrounding area that we couldn’t tolerate. If the area were clean, it would have been great.

Pros:

Location is just perfect, off the highway and all nice restaurants around

Cons:

As mentioned to frontdesk, housekeeping loves their use of bleach and chlorine and that was not nice when windows cannot be opened, smell was so strong, find a natural ‘green’ replacement

Great location in Little Italy, close to restaurants and the trolley station. The staff were very nice. Overall quiet neighborhood, on the weekends there's some music outside, but it stops at midnight. The room was clean, comfortable bed.

Cons:

The wifi was a little bit slow and sometimes unstable. Minor maintainable issues, like worn out drain plug.

Pros:

La Pensione was exactly what we needed right in the middle of everything. Little Italy, the bayfront, downtown San Diego and Petco Park. The trolly was 2 blocks away. The room was comfortable and the hotel was nice.
