One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at in the UK!
We booked five rooms for a family half-term getaway, and overall, we had a fantastic experience. While some of the rooms are a little dated, the double rooms were spacious, clean, comfortable, and perfectly functional. Considering the beachfront location and the half-term period, the price represented excellent value for money.
What really made this hotel stand out were the communal areas. The reception, bar, lounge, and walkways have a wonderfully traditional British feel, with much of the Victorian character beautifully preserved. The gardens were a particular highlight — relaxing in the deck chairs overlooking the grounds was a real treat. Despite it being half-term, the outdoor areas never felt overcrowded, and the children had plenty of space to run around and enjoy the warm weather.
The staff were exceptional. From reception to the bar and kitchen teams, everyone was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely helpful. A special thank you to Sarvar and Paulo at reception, and Hannah and Remy in the bar area. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and ensured all our needs were taken care of throughout our stay. The level of service was truly impressive and exceeded our expectations, especially for a UK staycation.
Before arriving, we had read some reviews that gave us some concerns, but our experience was overwhelmingly positive. Any minor issues were far outweighed by the outstanding service and hospitality we received.
Thank you for helping create such wonderful family memories. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning in the future.
Hotel was close to the beach
Bar area was nice
Drunk people hanging around opposite road
Room unfortunately had a leak and had to move rooms
Great location
Room: The distance to the room was unexpected and all routes involved a flight of stairs. As I was travelling with a baby stroller, I had to carry it every time I entered or exited the room, which was very inconvenient.
The table in the room was covered in dust and did not appear to have been properly cleaned.
The older gentleman at reception was very rude. There was no greeting or assistance when I was trying to collect my car.
The hot water was yellow throughout my stay, which meant I had to use cold water instead.
Excellent location with a beautiful garden.
One Receptionist (when we arrived a 2.0hrs early) was very unhelpful to the point of being rude). Other Receptionists were nice albeit they couldn't log onto their systems properly.
Bar staff generally good and pleasant.
Good location
More staff needed on reception
Need a better system in the summer to make the rooms cooler especially ones with lack of windows and restricting how far you can open them
Excellent stunning
Nothing
Central.location.
Very sweet Asian receptionist.
Concierge was rude.
Bar shut early and nowhere to get a coffee.
Decor and furniture in the room needs updating.
Location is great for beach
Second time I have checked in to the literal tears of other visitors complaining about the leisure facilities not being available to guests after 5pm.
Great location
Dated, food is just ok, overpriced
Hotel very close to the beach. Loved that. Main lounge tastefully decorated and inviting atmosphere, pleasant, and relaxing. Also liked the garden out back, well tended plants, plwnty of outdoor seating, pleasant inviting environment.
Location of our small double rooms felt immediately discarded, abandoned, and cut-off, felt as if intentionally sectioned off at the back, away from what would otherwise be a pretty nice front part of the hotel. We thought our rooms would match the loveliness we saw in the main lounge and front part of the hotel. Disappointing. Our rooms were uncomfortably small and hot, no air conditioning. Big dead bugs on the open window sill. I picked them up and threw outside. Pillows were hard, mattress was somewhat hard too but bearable to sleep on. Top piece of the shower faucet top was broken off, spent some time trying to get it to work, very difficult without the missing broken piece on top of the faucet. Bathroom flooring had an unusual soft damaged sunken open area. Uncomfortable to walk on.
The bathroom was in a poor state, peeling paint, very bad water pressure, shower leaked all over the bathroom floor and no plug for the bath.
Breakfast = only Rice Krispies and Weetabix on offer for cereals.
No fresh fruit, only tinned peaches. The dining room was very nice, shame about the food.
See above.
This is a grand Duchess of a hotel full of character . Self contained with very pleasant surroundings. Choice of restaurant and bars . And a lovely outside area/gardens with amazing views of the beach and pier.
Lots of space to relax. Really affordable eating options . A lovely space to relax for a few days .
Car valeting is efficient and worth the money although bit of confusion at the start . There is only space for 4 cars at the front of the hotel on a very busy road .
Could do with more bar staff . Queues at bar . This would speed up drinks and food service .
Location..staff friendly except Zoya the day manager
I booked 2 rooms. One was unusable as it was like a sauna, with no air-conditioning and window wouldn't open. I was offered a refund then management denied doing so.
We were in room 125 lower ground floor, the room was fully equipped and very comfortable. We did not eat at the hotel.
Everything was fine. We liked everything.
