Highway robbery
Pros:

Absolutly shocking, I went there for a wedding reception I was totally shocked at the inflated prices of drinks. How could they do this to people on there special day. for example. A half pint of lemonade ( poured from a £1 bottle from a supermaket chain) £2.50 A bottle of 0% San Miguel (half pint) £5. Medium glass of rose wine £14. Thats 465% mark up on the 0% san Migual from a supermarket price. Just over 300% mark up on a glass of wine. discusting!!! you only need to make 55% make up to gain a profit. its highway robbery even dick turpin wore a mask. the bar staff on the evening were waisting more than pouring and so so slowly. I suggest not having your wedding reception at this place its exstreamly over priced god knows what they had to pay for the rooms and venue, something they dont need starting out in life as a married couple for sure. I was truely upset for them having the venue hotel impose such a high mark up on the beverages. the management ought to be ashamed. I for one will never go there again or even suggest the place. Shocking service and outrageous exorbitant prices.

Terrible, just terrible
Pros:

A two-night all-round terrible experience. Before booking beware ... Most of the rooms and the breakfast are in a 'modern' block which has the look and feel of a soulless university dormitory. All the decor is very dated. The A/C may not work. Mine spewed bacteria around the room giving me respiratory issues for 6 weeks. There will be no maintenance after 5 pm or on the weekends even if the hotel is fully booked. Bizarrely I was shown an alternative room, with working A/C, but it was decided by the powers that be not to offer it to me after all. Management was not on site but seemingly making bad customer service decisions from afar. If you do decide to stay here, check your credit card statement carefully ... I got over-charged by nearly £300. It took them almost two months and endless phone calls to finally refund.

A solid 3 Star but no more than that
Pros:

We had a perfectly pleasant stay at Bailbrook, but do think it should be flagged that this is a really good 3 star hotel. The food is brilliant, the rooms are clean and comfortable, but the hotel is tired and lacks the finesse I would expect from a 4 star.

The original building is beautiful but as a regular guest (I'm sure it would be different at a wedding for example) you don't really see it. The reception is in this building but everything else: the bar, restaurant, breakfast room, bedrooms...is in the 90s extension. The exterior shots sell this hotel, and a dream that is not reflected in the stay.
In terms of decor, again, its a little soulless. The original building ought to be fantastic inspiration for the interior design and I expected there to be a strong Georgian Bath feel, but it was almost as if they've forgotten to decorate. What is there is basic hotel furniture, all perfectly serviceable, but not in keeping with the style - think faux leather tub chairs and veneer, rather than wingbacks and baroque pieces, the walls don't have any wallpapers or heritage colours on them...it was just all very stark.

To be clear, everything was clean, functional, and again the food was delicious. But for a 4 start hotel, I did not feel enveloped in the luxury I would expect for the price, and would only stay here again if it was booked for me as a business trip. There are cheaper and lovelier places for pleasure.

Just Fabulous!
Pros:

My husband and I stayed at The Bailbrook on the evening of Saturday 18th July, rounding off a lovely day in Bath with family.

From the first moment, we were looked after extremely well, with the Receptionist being very welcoming and friendly, whilst still being efficient and professional.

We stayed in the Henry Talbot room, which was one of the suites in the Mansion House and it was absolutely stunning! I’ve never seen a bathroom with a TV in it before! The suite was equipped with everything you could need from a large bottle of cold water and “proper” milk in the fridge, a coffee machine, lots of luxury toiletries, right through to essentials like a hair dryer and iron and ironing board.

We had booked dinner and went down to the bar about half an hour before our reservation time and enjoyed a drink in the terrace, before sitting down to our meal. The service throughout was of the highest quality, with Rudolph and Alex doing an amazing job of looking after us. The food was delicious and plentiful, so much so that I didn’t have any room for dessert! I opted for a lovely pot of English Breakfast tea instead.

We had a really good night sleep in the enormous bed and on Sunday morning enjoyed a very tasty breakfast from the many options available on the breakfast buffet. I didn’t get the lady’s name, who was in charge of the breakfast service, but she, once again, was very friendly and professional and made sure we had everything we needed, along with her team.

In the current hot weather, we were also very impressed at how well the temperature was controlled and we felt comfortable in all areas of the hotel, even in the conservatory where we had our dinner – very hard to do I’m sure but very much appreciated.

We were a bit sad to have to leave first thing on Sunday morning but had other commitments at home we needed to get back for. We will, however, most definitely be returning to The Bailbrook in the future – and we’ll definitely take more time over breakfast for that visit!

Bad service, plain bland hotel
Pros:

While there is part of this hotel that is old and charming, most of it looks like a conference center hotel. Rooms are bland with no character. The service was abominable. They regularly ran out of plates, bowls, glasses and food at the breakfast buffet. Reception was completely disorganized. Would not return.

An oasis of tranquil just outside of Bath
Pros:

Beautiful, leafy location and only just outside Bath. Super-easy to get to the centre. The room was really spacious, huge bed, really well equipped (tea/coffee making facilities, fridge, safe, desk, armchairs, TV, WiFi, complimentary water and fresh milk) . A large well-equipped bathroom with good water pressure and plentiful, good quality toiletries (Handwash, Shower Gel, Body Lotion, Shampoo and Conditioner). Friendly and helpful welcome at reception. We'd definitely stay here again!

Perhaps we were just unlucky!
Pros:

We stayed Friday to Saturday and chose the hotel because it was near family over we're visiting. It's a beautiful building in attractive grounds but several elements of service were disappointing.

At the start my wife asked if we could get a room with bath. It was theoretically possible subject to paying an extra £30 but the room with bath wasn't made up and the receptionist would have needed to find someone to make up the room - it was clearly not something she wanted to do so we dropped the request.

In the room my wife wasn't able to drain water from the washbasin. I unscrewed the drainage plug only to find a mass of human hair tied up around it. I cleaned to myself rather than wait for staff to be summoned as we were short of time.

At breakfast on the first morning coffee was delivered (plunger down) in a pot se dented it would hardly stand up. The coffee was weak and full of grounds. On the second morning they were out of bowls, bacon, eggs and cereal and after asking twice the young server appeared with a single bowl as all the rest were being washed up.

On leaving I was asked if we had enjoyed our stay and mentioned there were a few things (which would have been as above) but after mentioning the plug issue wasn't asked what else was an issue and as we were in a hurry I gave up.

To cap everything I found I'd left my expensive Bose earphones in the room and called the hotel next morning to be told that housekeeping would check. I never heard back.

You'll understand why I've left a 3-star review

Help at hand
Pros:

A pleasant hotel a short Uber journey into the City.

I wish to thank the hotel reception staff for the assistance they gave to a diabetic member of our party who had a sudden drop in blood sugar and had to return to the hotel alone. Suitable food was provided quickly and an offer of on-call assistance was made. Very commendable

Great hotel
Pros:

Rather lovely approach to the hotel and reception was welcoming. We arrived around 12.30 and our room was ready which was great. Hotel grounds are beautiful. Car park was great plenty of spaces even though with a lot wedding on during our stay. The rooms are well presented with air con which was lovely in the heat. Clean and bed was comfy too. Breakfast good choices from the buffet or you could order from the kitchen which we did.
Only comments I would make was although the wait staff were pleasant there was a little lack of direction a table at the side of us was cleaned twice by different staff members using cleaning spray which when people are eating isn’t ideal and it was close to the end of the service anyway. That being said breakfast was good quality with plenty of options. The hotel is a fair bit of a walk from Bath centre but a short car ride away and the walk is nice along the canal or you can do the main road which is quicker.

Don’t even look elsewhere
Pros:

We organised a charity fundraising weekend for 100 people and from meeting Kamila 6 months ago till the end of our stay we and our guests were blown away by the hotel, it’s location, cleanliness, super food and especially staff who all went the extra mile to ensure we were happy. Kamila made herself completely available to us for any query however small in the run up to the weekend and gave us complete confidence in the hotel and it’s staff. Mac catering manager looked after every table of 10 both evenings in a wonderfully discreet manner and yet wd appear at breakfast smiling and efficient despite what must have been a serious lack of sleep. We haven’t experienced such professionalism alongside genuine care and concern that a wonderful time was enjoyed by a large group of people in many years. Thank u to every member of staff for an outstandingly good time

Warm and welcoming.
Pros:

A warm, welcoming, spotlessly clean hotel in a beautiful setting. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Everything was supplied from toiletries to dressing gowns. The room was immaculate. It’s a downhill walk (5 minutes) to the bus stop (£2.50) that takes you in to Bath. The walk back up at the end of the day left me rather breathless due to my asthma but it’s not too bad. The room had air conditioning too which was very welcome for a short while early evening. Breakfast was excellent….a selection of continental food and you were able to order a freshly cooked breakfast of your choice.
My only criticism was that the bed was too hard for me. But that’s personal preference.

An idyllic place to stay
Pros:

We chose to go to Bath to celebrate our wedding anniversary and researched a number of hotels before choosing to stay at Bailbrook House Hotel. Our research paid off and we were very happy with our choice. There was a slight hiccup with our booking but this was resolved seamlessly by Debbie, who was very professional, kind and sensitive to our needs. She is a real asset to the Hotel.
We were delighted with the location, our accommodation was superb and the breakfasts were very good and accommodated all tastes. Romano in particular, did an excellent job in ensuring that we were well taken care of throughout our three day visit.
What made our stay more special was the staff who clearly love what they do and were keen to make sure we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Gems was such a compassionate, kind and positive member of the team and her optimism was infectious. Kim too went the extra mile to ensure that our room was perfect for our needs and was always willing to do whatever it took to ensure that our stay was a memorable one. Kindness and small personal touches make a huge difference.
Thank you to everyone who helped make our stay so special.

Good, overpriced for room in modern part
Pros:

Beautiful main building but room was in separate modern building you got to buy going outside. Room cold, as heating on a timer and couldn't adjust. Was clean, good breakfast which was fresh and every staff member said hello. Stayed as free parking and bus stop just down the hill and can get into bath for £3 in 15 mins. Stayed for dinner one night, was less impressive. A good but overpriced hotel

Lorella's Customer Service
Pros:

Due to unfortunate circumstances I had to re-schedule a booking. I spoke with Lorella who provided excellent service, explaining my options very clearly. Since my booking was through Booking.com, she actioned the date change on my behalf and talked me through the upgrade rooms, so I could arrange for my daughter to stay instead of me.
Lorella went above and beyond to ensure the arrangements were suitable for me. Additionally I paid a further £180, so the hotel gained as well

Absolutely Perfect
Pros:

What a find ! Truly magnificent long weekend spent here at Bailbrook House with friends, the staff were so attentive, the hotel was immaculate, rooms were total understated luxury, large king size rooms, comfy beds tea/coffee, fridge with milk and water. Breakfast was amazing, the best hotel breakfast we have ever had, all cooked fresh with local produce, including healthy smoothie shots, there was a great variety a full cooked english and full continental. It was a friend’s birthday whilst we were there and they left a card a box of fudge for him in the room, totally unexpected. A shout out for Kim on reception what a lovely lady, extremely helpful nothing was too much trouble. We dined in the restaurant on the first evening again first class service with amazing food. We will definitely be back and totally recommend for a perfect local stay to Bath.

Understated luxury with a homely welcoming atmosphere. Fabulous staff and food, comfortable rooms and value for money.
Pros:

We stayed here for a social weekend with friends for a Ladies Festival.
Hotel was welcoming, comfortable and clean- understated luxury. Well equipped and comfortable rooms with tea/coffee facilities, fridge, hairdrier, iron & board. Staff were warm welcoming and professional. Special mention for Fransesca who was warm, friendly, helpful and seemed to be everywhere at once ensuring a smooth run ship and that all guests were looked after.
Food - from a lunchtime sandwich to three course dinner. Good quality, well presented, tasty and cooked to perfection.
Allergies - 3 attendees had allergies and this was handled amazingly with the people being made to feel considered, able to enjoy good food safely with confidence (not always the case with past experience at other venues)
The hotel is a good base to explore Bath and surrounding area, ample parking, on a bus route so you can park the car and forget it.
This stay was 10/10 and excellent value.

Fantastic Hotel
Pros:

I had a lovely stay at Bailbrook House Hotel in Bath and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. The hotel itself is beautiful, with stunning grounds and a charming historic feel that really adds to the overall experience. It’s the perfect mix of classic elegance and modern comfort.

My room was spotless, well-decorated, and very comfortable, with everything I needed for a relaxing stay. The bed was especially cozy, and I appreciated the peaceful atmosphere throughout the property.

The staff were friendly, attentive, and always willing to help with any requests. From check-in to check-out, the service was smooth and professional. The food was also excellent, with a great breakfast selection.

One of the best hotels we've ever stopped in. What an incredible stay.
Pros:

One of the best hotels we have ever stayed in, anywhere in the World. The hotel is beautiful, clean and tastefully decorated. The staff are first rate, so friendly but incredibly professional. The rooms are large, spotlessly clean and comfortable and the food was delicious. It was my Mum's 80th Birthday and we were a group of 11. Debby did all the planning for us for the evening meal putting us in a beautiful room for the meal, all to ourselves. The table looked perfect on our arrival and we even had a sign outside the door announcing it was my Mum's celebration. She was bowled over by how much trouble had been put into making the evening, and the rest of the stay, so very special, even upgrading her room to a glorious suite overlooking Bath. I can't believe any hotel could have made this any better for her and we will be eternally grateful to this fabulous hotel and their excellent staff.
