ABode Canterbury

Prijs kwaliteit van de eigen parkeerplaats aan de hoge kant ten opzichte van de prijs van het hotel.

Het was fijn dat het hotel een eigen parkeerplaats had, maar 25 pond per nacht was daarvoor toch wel redelijk aan de prijs.

When we booked it said breakfast included. Was extremely disappointed to find out this only meant a continental breakfast. We ordered a croissant and a juice and were left waiting for nearly 20 minutes!! In the end we had to to leave after watching 2 other tables that sat down after us have their orders brought out. Went and complained to reception straight away but not the point. We’ve stayed here before and enjoyed a delicious cooked breakfast included within the price. This time being offered a continental breakfast when paying over £200 for a room for 1 night is not acceptable and we will not be returning.

Drain of washbasin was not functioning properly. The ventilation filter in bath was dirty.

J'ai trouvé étonnant de ne pouvoir trouver une chambre avec deux lits jumeaux que moyennant un supplément par rapport à une chambre à lit double !
Chambre sans doute plus spacieuse mais également plus chère !

VERY slow check-in and focus of staff

Équipement vieillissant, Clim qui fonctionne mal, douche cassé à l’arrivée ( réparé par un Mr très gentil), pas d’eau ni de mini frigo dans les
Chambres , pourtant très utile en période de canicule.
Petit déjeuner moyen.

The lack of bar staff behind the bar,at times no one was present
The staff at breakfast were not professional at all,didn’t even get acknowledged when standing waiting to be shown our table,they carried on their conversation before greeting us.
The breakfast offering is awful,a choice of 3 cereals,fruit and not even a coffee machine.There was no choice of milk on offer either,which I was surprised about but
I decided to try some cereal,the milk container was empty,there was no member of staff for me to speak to so I went and sat at my table and told the waitress when she came over to us,the response was not what I was expecting,no apology just an inconvenience that I’d mentioned it.
We proceeded to order juices,coffees and breakfast,my husband ordered a breakfast and I ordered croissant and toast
The wait for our order may be considered as I little too long but when the waitress approached she had my husband’s breakfast and that was all,thinking our drinks etc where coming straight out my husband waited for my breakfast to arrive,that didn’t happen so he started eating his. The toast under the eggs was burnt and soggy,really not appetising at all. I said don’t worry when our drinks come I will ask them to change it.
This is when we sat for a few minutes longer,no one came with the rest of our order not even our juices.
So we decided to leave our table and go to the reception to let them know about our unacceptable breakfast experience.
The lady apologised and said she was so sorry,we explained that it wasn’t her fault at all but the overall experience was really not what we were expecting from The Abode and that it had sadly ruined our stay.
We checked out and she apologised again,she was so sad for us that we had experienced that after such a lovely stay.
As it was a birthday gift it would have been nice for us to have enjoyed a wonderful breakfast experience,sadly that wasn’t the case and would think twice about recommending The Abode or returning for a stay.

Équipement vieillissant.
Chambre tout au bout d’un petit couloir , où il faisait 40 degré. Clim non fonctionnelle, douche cassée à l’arrivée….
C’était la canicule, tous les établissements mettent de l’eau dans les chambres mais pas celui ci. Pas de mini frigo non plus alors que très utile quand il fait très chaud.

Nothing

Main receptionist and parking hard to find.

Le service au petit déjeuner. Il fallait demander 2× ce qu'on avait commandé. Une partie de la commande n'est jamais arrivée. Plus de café et une longue attente pour en recevoir

Only stayed one night. Nothing to fault, other than car park was full and quite a walk from the nearest public car park.

I found no faults at all - would thoroughly recommend.

What’s not to like?

De kamers zijn wat gehorig. Ook hard dichtslaande deuren als gevolg van de deurdranger. Gedurende de nacht is dat niet fijn. Het wachten in de rij voor het ontbijt was voor ons nieuw. Toch een kwartier daar gestaan. Het personeel deed ontzettend hun best om gasten zsm mogelijk een tafel te geven maar kennelijk vraagt de manier van werken en het computerprogramma waarmee ze werken veel tijd. Suggestie: gebruik bloktijden voor de gasten die ze vantevoren kunnen aangeven.
