There were a few areas that could be improved. Our room was located directly next to the spa facilities, which meant privacy was a little limited. We found ourselves keeping the bedroom curtains closed as people could easily see into the room. A net curtain or privacy screen would be a great addition, allowing guests to enjoy the view while maintaining privacy.

The room was also quite noisy at times. We appreciate that it was a Saturday night on Father's Day weekend, so there were naturally lots of families and excited children staying. However, we could clearly hear conversations and children's excited screams from the room next door, even when we were in the bedroom with the door closed and the lounge separating the two rooms.

Noise from the corridor was also noticeable, particularly from guests entering and leaving the spa facilities and main hallway, with conversations and doors closing carrying into the room. We were also surprised to hear people moving around and talking in the room above, as we expected an older building to have better sound insulation.

Things became much quieter after 10pm, so it wasn't a major issue overnight. However, activity started up again from around 7am on Sunday morning, which made it difficult to enjoy a relaxing lie-in.

The room was clean and well presented, although some areas felt a little dated and could benefit from refreshing. Parking was located a short walk from the hotel rather than directly outside, but this wasn't a significant inconvenience.

The outside no smoking area had accumulated rubbish and cigarette butts with thistles and no landscaping making it unpleasant to sit there . The fish were great .Long waits at bar - only one open . The cost of the drinks was out of sync with the quality of service .Lack of help given to single member of staff .Also ( query off duty staff) allowed to jump queue with their order. No water in room - had to take glass in room down stairs to water fountain.

There was no fridge in my room and I was staying for 2 nights. I would have expected that amenity to be available. I tried to book an additional night as my work trip had extended but the hotel was fully booked. The staff at reception did their best to try and find something for me but unfortunately couldn't.

Wish my stay was a bit longer.

The shower was very slippery - no mat provided. No water in the room - most hotels provide a bottle of water.
There was a reluctance to give me an itemised account of our spending. From what I could gather the system doesn’t automatically show all spending - it totals it but the receptionist had to search and give four different entries and I then had to add each separate sum in order to check that the account was correct - it was - but what a palaver!! I was keen to check because, last year my daughter stayed there and the hotel tried to charge her for items she had not had - a glitch in the allocation of items which others had charged to their rooms had ended up in my daughter’s bill.
I stay there because it’s convenient. I would never stay from choice
