Good service from hotel staff and staff in the hotel bar.
Property is beautiful but a little tired and dated. Room in eaves had faded material on headboard and chairs. Spa is nice. It's small, but weren't busy so not a problem.
Perfect
Good
Most amazing place I have ever stayed. Staff was amazing. The grounds were beautiful. The supper was delightful.
Lovely spa and hotel. Amazing service from all staff but in particular, Finley absolutely slayed.
All the staff were excellent and very helpful. Would highly recommend.
Excellent venue. Staff Excellent Facilities brilliant.
On arrival we were given a deluxe room which smelled damp and looked out onto a flat roof and pipes. We were moved to a modern upgraded room. Staff handled it all brilliantly. Food dinner. Formerly helpful staff. Near Gatwick.
Very average hotel and poor service.
Stunning! The spa was amazing, just what we needed for a couple’s getaway
Room was very comfortable but air con totally inadequate. Water from taps and showers dangerously hot. Lounges comfortable.
Fantastic
I stayed at this hotel as part of an extended layover from the US to mainland Europe. This was a gorgeous property with super friendly staff and tons of amenities. I loved the bar, the spas, the pool and the gardens. The room was great too with an incredible bathroom - rainfall shower and massive tub - but it was unseasonably hot when I stayed and there was only a portable AC unit to use. It was a bit musty and had to be constantly refilled with ice, which was a bit of a challenge to maintain.
I paid £180 for one night at Alexander House, and with that price tag, my expectations were high.
Unfortunately, the experience was deeply disappointing. The room decor (Chelsea) was tired, dated, and in a shocking state of disrepair (see attached photos).
Chipped tiles, threaded carpets, cracked paint, worn furniture, water-damaged artwork, and general stains were just some of the obvious problems. These issues clearly weren’t recent, indicating long-term neglect and a lack of attention to maintenance – something the management should be ashamed of, as it shows guests are not being prioritised.
Additionally, the swimming pool required an additional £40 payment since it’s in the spa area, which felt like a cheap money grab given the already steep room rate. The garden sauna, which could have been a small consolation, wasn’t heating properly either.
When I raised these issues with the duty manager a few hours after check-in, he was friendly and professional. He explained that in ‘similar situations’ an upgrade was often offered. While the second room we moved to was in better condition, it was frustrating and inconvenient to have to repack and move across the hotel, especially during what was meant to be a rare, relaxing break with my partner.
Disappointingly, other areas of the hotel showed similar signs of poor maintenance – from broken tiles to stained carpets. Given the price and the hotel’s supposed reputation, this stay fell far below expectations.
The staff was great and made me feel very welcome and went above and beyond and even surprised me with a cake saying Happy Birthday for my birthday. Definitely would go there again
Booked one night stay to celebrate my step-son's 21st birthday, we had 2 king-bed rooms in the main house. Full of character, spacious and very clean.
We enjoyed drinking outside in the sun, the spa was clean and although busy it didn't feel crowded, and we made use of the outdoor jacuzzi and sauna.
Our meal at Reflections was a little disappointing, but I put this down to them being extremely busy and possibly a staff member down.
After dinner we enjoyed further drinks at the Champagne bar, which had a great atmosphere.
Breakfast in the morning was plentiful.
It was our 3rd trip, and we will definitely have a 4th.
I thinking is need to improve Breakfast and some of menus on Restaurant also the mattress too
Room was boiling hot, and the toilet was running all night keeping us up
We had a fantastic stay including a fantastic upgrade to a garden suite.
Reflections restaurant was lovely, shout out to Joely
Should fix sinks :faucets in room. Our
