The breakfast wasn't fantastic. I know it would never happen but it would be good to know when the food gets cooked so I don't go down to eat when it's been there for ages.

Lovely having access to a swimming pool. The steam room was good but it wasn’t switched on first thing.

Arrived Sunday night, asked about the time of breakfast Monday morning was told 6-11am went down for breakfast the next day at 10 to be told it was shut. I’d gone down earlier for a cup of tea with intentions of coming down for proper breakfast later but as I’d checked in only one of the two breakfasts purchased were refunded. Bar service was terrible, waited 10 minutes to buy a drink each time as staff walked past and ignored me. was woken by a knock on the door at 7am to change a lightbulb- one in a series of many in the hall not a necessary fix at all. Attempted to phone the complaints line but got hung up on. Also no mention when booking of the works going on in the hotel which then woke me up an hour later after being disturbed- mentions it in the lift when you are on the way up to your room
The hotel is in the perfect location, the bar is lovely and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. We were given a free upgrade to an executive room and the check in and check out process was really quick.
The executive room we were given had several stains on the carpets and on the sofa. The reception staff confirmed last food orders were around 10:40pm and that there was a limited night time menu available after that, however, when we arrived back at the hotel at 10;30pm we were told we were unable to order any food from the normal menu and there were no gluten free options available on the night time menu (my partner is coeliac so gluten intolerant). When I asked at check in about using the pool I was informed we didn’t need to pre book but we did need to go to reception to get a key, however, when we went to reception the next morning to ask to use the pool, we were advised we should have pre-booked as the pool was fully booked until 11am (had we known that the night before we would have pre-booked). We were therefore unable to use the pool which was the main reason for booking into this hotel (as our usual preferred hotel does not have this facility).
