Novotel Mulhouse Bâle Fribourg

Excellent hotel in a very convenient location across from the train station and easy walk to town centre. Rooms are fine with strong WiFi and staff are friendly and helpful.

My wife is coeliac, and must have a gluten free diet. Despite fully informing the hotel, a mistake was made in the restaurant, and my wife felt very ill at 22.00 and was very sick all night until 04.00. There was no reply when telephoning the reception desk for help with clearing up the mess, despite advertising 24 hr manning. At 07.30 with next to no sleep and my wife still feeling very poorly, I advised the manageress. 24 hours later, she contacted me to confirm their mistake and offered a partial refund of accomodation and dinner. As I had booked with Expedia, the refund only covered part of my payment due to the commission paid by the hotel. I was still charged for breakfast despite neither of us having anything to eat. The room was ok, but the bathroom was poor, with no plug or grid in the sink, which was blocked, smelly and very dangerous for losing a ring or toothbrush head in an unprotected hole.

Verouderd hotel. De kamer rook naar hond. Er wordt geadverteerd met dat er een speeltuin is maar die is er niet. De prijs voor een nacht is veel te hoog voor wat je ervoor krijgt. Ik zou hier niet nog een keer komen.

Noisy and very poor breakfast.

Le seul problème de mon séjour, a été la qualité de la literie… Ce qui est étonnant pour un Novotel.

Au dela du service de leur restaurant ou l impression est que vous avez à faire à des stagiaires qui avance à rien ( il s agit de mon second et dernier séjour dans cet établissement estampillé 4*
Vous devez régler votre séjour à l arrivée donc si vous déjeune ou dîner sur place vous vous retrouvez avec plusieurs factures je me suis retrouvé dans une chambre en pleine canicule avec la climatisation qui ne fonctionne pas
Le personnel au delà de cela est sympas, ils n’y sont pour rien mais cela ne fait pas tout au prix ou vous payez les chambres dans un Novotel
À fuite , il faut que la direction s attache au confort de leur client, pour la part j avais bien fait attention à ce que les chambres soient climatisées comme indiqué

This Novotel is not up to the standard of previous Novotel’s we have stayed in.
On arriving at the hotel we had to wait for over 10 minutes whilst the receptionist dealt with the person in front, there was an older couple who came in behind us who had to go find somewhere to sit down as it looked like the husband was going to collapse .
On entering the room we discovered that there was only one glass in the bathroom and one robe and one pair of slippers, on complaining we were told to wait and there would get a glass robe and slippers so we had to wait on reception for these, were we wrong to expect sorry I shall get these brought straight to your room, when we explained that we didn’t think the room was made up for 2 people because of these missing things we got told well it’s a big bed it’s a 2 person room.
The room whilst clean reflected the whole standard of the hotel the toilet looked like it had been painted in the dark .
The hotel hallways had places where there had obviously been water damage causing the paper to bubble up badly and this had just been painted over.
There was a children’s play area right by the stairs which nearly caused several accidents with children playing with toys on the bottom of the stair.
Around 6 we went to the bar for a drink, hubby ordered a draft beer and I ordered a lemoncello cocktail, well just our luck the barrel ran out and we had to wait for them to change it, we were then brought 2 beers no lemoncello on complaining we were told I thought your wife said she would have the same.
The evening meal was just as bad I ordered the fried salmon, well when it arrived it looked and tasted like it had been cremated, we were so tired by now and fed up with the whole hotel that I didn’t bother to complain, on paying the bill we were not asked for our room number so had to pay in cash and on looking at the receipt later found that neither our name or room number were on the receipt so now I have write to the hotel chain and get the loyalty points for the meal credited to our account.
Sunday we decided to just have a bar snack of cold meats and cheese and a drink, on arriving at the bar we were told the restaurant was closed but we could have a pizza, I expect there was a take away somewhere.
Well we didn’t bother we went back to the room and googled local places to eat on a Sunday , then walked up the road to a brilliant Chinese buffet that I can’t recommend enough.
Overall I would say avoid this Novotel there are cheaper hotels near by which can’t be any worse in standards and attitude, after all if you are going to close you restaurant on a Sunday don’t advertise that it is open on your website and if you do at least have the decency to put a notice in reception the day before saying the restaurant will be closed the following evening.

J'ai profité d'un hôtel quasiment vide en ce vendredi soir, l'établissement était donc très calme.
Accueil un peu froid à l'arrivée (mais l'heure était tardive).
Chambre très confortable, récemment refaite. Vue sur la piscine côté pair.
Equipements réduits au minimum (2 sachets de tisane, une bouilloire, du sucre et des cintres...).
La douche a souffert (l'accessoire pour maintenir l'énorme pommeau en hauteur était cassé, le flexible fuyait au niveau de la connexion avec le pommeau), ce qui est gênant pour une salle de bain rénovée il y a moins de 2 ans...
Petit déjeûner bien fourni (musique un peu forte dans la salle), choix assez varié et quelques produits locaux.
Je n'ai pas eu le temps de profiter de la piscine.
Parking gratuit et fermé par portail automatique.
Comme dans la plupart des hôtels du groupe Accor, il manque des infos concernant les horaires (petit déjeûner, arrivée, piscine, etc.) et rien n'est indiqué dans les chambres...

Would have been nice to have coffee in the room we had a kettle but nothing to go with it tv viewing was very poor

Grosszügige Unterkunft etwas ausserhalb gelegen. Pool super!

S’il est idéalement placé aux abords de l’A36 et de la zone commerciale de l’Ile Napoléon, le restaurant de l’hôtel est très cher pour la carte proposée. Également le petit déjeuner, où vous n’avez pas intérêt à arriver en fin de service sinon plus rien de disponible… Sinon, chambre confortable, certaines méritant d’être rénovée (vieillotte à l’aller, remise au goût du jour au retour). Calme apprécié

La chambre etait propre mais malheureusement pas de frigo ni de coffre fort.

Le bruit etait au rdv

Clim ne fonctionne pas.

L'hôtesse d'accueil du soir etait tres agreable, nous l'avons solliciter au sujet du non fonctionnement de la clim, tout de suite elle nous a trouvé une solution (chauffage d'appoint)

L'hôtesse d'accueil, du matin, sollicité suite au désagrément du chauffage, elle etait vraiment froide et aucun geste commercial pour nous soulager (pourtant, nous avons l'habitude de séjourner dans des novotels partout en france et Europe)
Conclusion : hôtel ne mérite pas 4 étoiles
