Pros:

The hotel exceeded expectations. Great location for walking into town. Staff very helpful and friendly. Would definitely come again.

Cons:

No control over the air conditioning. Room was far too warm during the heatwave. An additional fan would have been useful.

Perfect location and amenities for an overnight stop off driving from Edinburgh to London.
Pros:

The AC was the biggest attraction during a heatwave with 30deg outside. But also the reception staff were lovely even though rushed with a queue in front of them. It’s a great riverside location with a short walk to the city centre. Also a swimming pool and sauna with bootable slots so it’s not too busy.

Cons:

Nothing.

Dirty room, uncomfortable bed, broken couch held together with cable ties. Fridge light kept flickering throughout the night. Will not be back!

We had a 3 night stay with breakfast was pleasant and the staff were helpful and friendly.
Pros:

It was in a good location - a 5/10 minute stroll along the river to the town centre.
The reception/ bar and dining area was modern and comfortable.
The room was clean and comfortable.

Cons:

Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived although we had checked in on line prior to arrival . We were told that booking via 3rd party and not direct with the hotel meant our check in time was 4.30 .

Holiday Inn Express is luxury compared to this
Pros:

Very little. Probably location if I had to pick something positive

Cons:

We booked a superior queen room and it was a basic twin room that we were allocated. Breakfast was poor and bar facilities were dirty. We definitely won't be recommending this place to anyone. It is well overpriced for what you get. Novotel, you let us down 👎🏼

The room was so warm and uncomfortable. It was like the air con didn’t work , couldn’t sleep because it was so un breathable . It was awful.

Lovely swimming pool & sauna
Pros:

Breakfast had a good variety of self service hot and cold food, hot drinks machine had hot chocolate, so happy children. Family room set up with double bed and 2 single beds - much appreciated by teenagers, as they were expecting to have to share a sofa bed. Booked the pool -had it to ourselves, brilliant.

Cons:

Scrambled eggs were a bit watery and pastries were cold however it was 9am so may well have been there since service started at 6:30am

air consitioned and close to York Centre
Pros:

Comfortable room with working air conditioning.

Cons:

I asked in advance by email for the sofa bed to be made up. It wasn't and we arrived quite late and had to ask for bedding and towels. i had booked the room with intention of using the sofa bed and someone paying attention should have noticed that

Swimming pool was tiny and over crowded. People were clearly ignoring their booking slots.
