Had a big hole chewed in the curtain by a dog sometime
This review is in praise of the staff. Lamar was exceptional in wanting to help us in a difficult situation with a declined credit card. He probably spent 10 minutes trying to pull a rabbit out of a hat but it was not possible. All the while he was so helpful and personable! We were so impressed that my friend returned the next day when her card was straightened out and spent a few nights. Although the motel itself needs upkeep, it is a big loss that it is closing soon. There are so few affordable motels in Sarasota, especially close to the hospital. Staff member Bitsy was also terrific. The Baymont was fortunate to employ them both!
Location
Put you wherever they put you for the cost & should put you in a place without animal smells & a/c should work
But later switched rooms cuz of this
Disappointed in the quality of the hotel Obviously an older structure that needed updates. Elevator was quick and quiet but needed a facelift. Carpet worn and shredded in room. Front window curtains were shredded and torn. Front exterior door had no seals and you could daylight around door jamb. A/C was difficult to adjust and maintain a comfortable temp. Bathroom sink had several cracks. Discolored bathroom tub. Bed was comfortable and sheets and blankets appeared new and clean. Plenty of towels and hangers Furniture in room appeared worn, stained, mismatched.
Typical breakfast buffet. Good selection. Biscuits and gravy were better than expected.
Hotel is older. Room smelled musty but was clean. The carpet left my socks dirty. Lighting in the vanity area was poor. Sheer curtain on the window was torn and inside of the blackout curtains were either dirty or stained.
The room was clean and adequate as we passed through. However the TV didn't work, the air conditioning unit was extraordinarily loud and the freezer section of the fridge was in desperate need of a defrost.
Being close to the airport there was a fair bit of noise but we couldn't really hear it inside over the sound of the air conditioning unit.
We found the breakfast simple but adequate.
The location suited us being close to what we were visiting Sarasota for. Plenty of parking.
Room has drywall cracks throughout the ceiling, significant water damage to shower ceiling, smells strongly of smoke, rust on door frames, hair on bed
Dumpy, smelly and dirty
We had an event in the area and this was the closest hotel to the museum. Check-in was ok. We could not really inspect the room because we only had 30 mins to get in, take a quick shower and go to the event. The bathroom was not clean. We got back late and found out the room also had roaches. Everything else around was sold out and it was too late to make other arrangements. We will never stay here again.
The staff very friendly and professional but the property updated and dirty
Terrible accommodations I saw 4 bugs in the room during our stay was only there to sleep one evening rust in the bathtub freezer in fridge did not work handle missing from drawer heard sirens several times from hospital nearby please consider another hotel
Bitsy very helpful. Convenient parkiing
Air conditioning was so loud. Youd think a semitrailer was coming through room. Tv didnt work. Lamps means room not well lit
Overall was a good
There is a fork on the side of the bed that has food on it, sticky stuff on the end table, stuff on the toilet seat, tissue shoved in the peep hole etc... this room is not clean and I have taken photos to submit. really would like my money back.
The staff are lovely
The rooms require updating
Terrible service, no phone connected, dirty room (found items from previous guest), water issues, no WiFi, broken door locked on connecting room. Felt very unsafe and unsanitary. We had to leave right away and even though issues were reported, they were not resolved and they did not reimburse the fees. Lack of accountability and responsiveness was clear and evident. Would never recommend it and they need to be inspected by the local issues as I do honestly believe they are not in compliance with local rules to be able to receive guest and provide basic standard quality services.
Staff friendly, breakfast good, great location
Hotel and rooms all very dated.
Furniture and decor very old and worn, strong smell of something trying to hide mold.
Air conditioner too noisy
Wyndham should be appalled to have this as one of their properties. Not only was it dirty but the furniture was appalling. At $137 a night you'd think you'd get something a little decent but this place was like a gross, truck stop, roadside, dive. We were two senior ladies who wanted to stay near the beach. Normally, WYNDHAM stands for quality but they totally missed the mark this time.
This was supposed to be a handicap room. We had to call the maintenance man in to try to get the hand held shower sprayer to work and when he finally got the hand held shower to work about 20 per cent of the water went through the hand held shower while 80 per cent was still coming out the spigot. The tub filled up with water because it wasn't draining. There was a shower chair that couldn't be accessed until you CLIMBED OVER THE WALL OF THE TUB as it barely fit in the tub, had arms on both sides of the seat, and couldn’t be accessed easily! This was ludicrous for a handicapped person. When the maintenance man and the front office manager were trying to get the hand held shower to work, we suggested moving us to a different handicap room and we were told there were no others available. There wasn’t even a handicap toilet in this “handicap” room!!! !
The bottom of walls in the entire room and bathroom had bubbling under the paint as if they had been flooded and instead cutting and replacing the ruined wallboard, it was just painted over. We both have asthma and we suffered all night long with coughing and other issues. We believe there was mold under the carpet and/or in the walls because we were both having asthma attacks all night. There was food on the floor around the microwave and refrigerator, there was trash left underneath the bed skirts of the beds, there was something all over the bathroom floor that looked like chunks of drywall or plaster.
I wiped the TV remote with a sanitizing wipe and it actually turned black from the filth on the remote.
The Furniture looked as if it was picked up from the city trash pile. Complete pieces of trim were missing and everything was scuffed up unbelievably. There were rods sticking out from the bed frame which we hit our shins on.
The only redeeming quality that this location had was the personnel. Personnel were all very friendly and accommodating as well as they could be, aside from housekeeping of course. (The place was absolutely disgustingly dirty). The Breakfast Buffet I would rate an 8 out of 10. The only eggs were hard boiled, and there was no sausage or bacon. There were no sweet rolls or muffins. There were only bagels and toast and biscuits for the (packaged) gravy. The one saving Grace was the waffle irons but they looked unclean. I don’t think they’ve been scrubbed with a brush to get all the garbage off of them for a long time.
We’ve totally lost my faith in Wyndham. We used to be able to count on Wyndham’s integrity, quality and consistency. We would have left but we were exhausted from being at the beach all day and being seniors didn’t really have the energy to try and locate another room last minute. Shame on you Wyndham. We felt taken advantage of.
Property had flooded bathroom, smelled like cigars, and requires a renovation.
