In die Jahre gekommen
Pros:

Gets the job done, but we were happy to be out of there.
Pros:

This is going to be quite a mixed review because there are definitely some things to be said in favor for the hotel. Firstly it’s a bargain in decent proximity to the city center and thus makes a Paris stay more affordable. Especially if you didn’t plan it half a year in advance. I saw people complain about how far it is from everything. Being from Berlin, I find this a ridiculous complaint. Metro line 4 can be reached in a 10-15 minute walk at Porte d’ Orleans or Mairie de Montrouge, but there is also a bus right in front of the hotel that delivers one to the metro line 4 at Porte d’Orleans. This line takes you directly to the Catacombes and Notre Dame. With one line change at Raspail it takes you to the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe, with one line change at Denfert-Rochereau it will take you to Sacre Coeur and Montmartre, with one line change at Chatelet you can reach the Louvre and the Stade de France. This is all well within an hour in a very large city . That’s not far. Versailles and Disneyland take a little longer, but also can be reached with only one change of lines.
Now for the hotel. Already from the outside one can see that it has lived. The lobby is cute and cosy, staff is friendly and as helpful as they can be, bar service was very good on our stay. Very nice are the cheap baggage lockers that make away with the problem of what to do on a last day when you are travelling late. Breakfast is of limited variety but of good quality, albeit in a fairly cramped environment if the hotel is booked well. If the weather is nice one can battle through breakfast against the Montrouge pigeons.
Of the three elevators we only ever saw two in action, but we didn’t ever wait long. Our room was on floor 8 and it seemed to us that other lower floors had undergone some reconstruction and refurbishing, but not ours. So the hotel placed us in a fairly quiet room far from the elevator which, including the fact that there were no bed bugs, is about the only good thing to be said about the room. Well - it also was clean. For the three of us there were three beds of incredible cheapness with sliding and shifting mattresses. I guess, it was enough to sleep on. There was no decent wardrobe, just the typical open shelf with not even close enough room for the clothes we had. The hotel awarded one towel to each of us. There were two (2!) power outlets right under the bureau/table type thing, unreachable from the beds or the bathroom, where there were none (0!). This is absolutely not up to scratch in this day and age for a 3-star hotel. There was one (1!) chair in the room for the three of us and that is not for a lack of space. Both windows had pull-down blinds to darken the room which were broken in the sense that they wouldn’t stay down. The curtains were enough, oh well. The bathroom of this wheelchair-accessible lair was huge but empty, giving distinct hospital flair. It seemed clean enough. The toilet seat was loose and moved quite freely when sitting down. There was no brush or any kind of tool to clean the toilet?! There was a huge shower area including a plastic seat, but conspicuously lacking any kind of partition or shower curtain. I have never seen a bathroom lacking so much thought and normal functionality in any hotel yet. So the hotel underperformed in it’s central product. That’s why I choose the two star rating. It got the job done, but we were happy to be out of there.

Pros:

Advertisement pictures did not match the actual room and it was way smaller than it seemed. The bathroom doorknob was broken, we could not close it. Shower curtain non existent, so water got everywhere. Inside of the toilet was stained and appeared dirty. Scratches and stains everywhere on the walls. The sink blocker was partially broken, making water well up in seconds. Some of the towels were stained yellow. The mattresses were stained as well. The curtains inside the room was broken. The air conditioning was leaking. Housekeeping was not thorough at all. No fridge or coffee/tea table available. Would not really recommend.
