I stayed at Domaine de Maffliers for a two-night business event. The location is certainly scenic and picturesque, surrounded by the countryside outside Paris. The setting works well for corporate activities, although the weather was colder than expected for early September.
My room in the main building was spacious, though not very modern. I was disappointed that it wasn’t cleaned on the second day. Perhaps it required placing a sign outside the door, but everything was written only in French and not easy to understand for non-speakers.
Staff were polite but not very present. The restaurant was average: some dishes were decent, others not at all (the pasta was inedible), while breakfast was much better. However, on the second day at 8am several items were already gone, and some pastries seemed from the day before.
Overall, it’s a charming place for business gatherings, with nice surroundings and potential outdoor activities, but I wouldn’t return for a personal holiday.
This is a tough review to write, because this is almost like staying in 2 very different hotels! The main hotel, where our room was , appears to be an old hotel that had its common spaces remodeled . Walls appear to be concrete. Our room was just average, nothing special . Small but clean. No charm or character that we are used to in French hotels. It’s more like an old Holiday Inn. But, the other part of the hotel, which is a short walk away where the indoor pool and restaurant are , is beautiful. The restaurant is very nice, with seating inside and out. The grounds are gorgeous. Expansive and relaxing. Nice outdoor pool . If you are looking for a luxury room, this isnt the place. But if you want quiet and relaxation, it’s fine.
Night was so hot .the hotel no AC system service fell terrible couldn't sleep all night
We booked an expensive room 450 Euros per night room in the castle part of this 2 split hotel and expected at least a 4-5 star atmosphère and service , but were extremely disappointed . Accor mixes the guests of the expensive castle part with another hotel building on these grounds which is maybe 2-3 star and provides 2 star service or worse for both .
When we asked for a little salad for lunch we were told they only offer a BBQ for 44 Euros p P . No exception . Zero customer orientation . The same the next day .
Breakfast: We had to wait 30 min to get some service , mediocre coffee served in a pot without a lid , Boiled eggs served in a little milk jug - apparently they don't have egg holders . Never experienced this even in a 2 star hotel .
. When we went back to our rooms after our lunch disappointment , our room key cards did not work any more . Had to walk back to the reception in the 3 star hotel part to get new keys .
The room was spacious but overlooking the roof of the annex and the outside restaurant . It's apparently a family destination with lots of people using the pool . Unclear whether they were actually all guests of the hotel . So don't expect a serene calm atmosphere but rather a place with lots of small children .
Completely overpriced for what it is .
A very marvellous one day stay at the Novotel Domaine Maffliers. From the moment you enter the property, you are overwhelmed with a stroke of woods to finalize with a beautiful landscape with the hotel and its restaurant / castle. You can stay at the hotels comfortabel rooms. But my suggestion (finding a good day with its good price per night), to spend a night at its suite. Spacious, private (and for couples, very romantic. Although I am a single).
Can't wait for my second stay in about 7 months, after my night train travel from Toulouse to Gare du Nord to Monsoult Maffliers station.
Beautiful property and excellent hospitality service! Thank you so much!
This property is the quintessential French countryside chateau with a castle. The grounds were impeccable. The staff were exceedingly attentive and helpful.
Paul was especially helpful to my family and I who were visiting Europe for the first time.
The rooms were pricy but it was during the Olympics. The rooms were similar to a motel 6, but the bed was very comfortable and the beauty of the property FAR outweighed the quality of the rooms.
The restaurant in the castle was magnificent!
The hotel doesn't have a front desk, the staff will check you in in the middle of the aisle, not a good experience. The staff during the checkout did not speak English. The front desk staff at the dinner restaurant (Brasserie) was very rude
Again a last-minute inspiration to go to Paris and stay 2 nights at Maffliers Demeure de Campagne. A fair price, even in the middle of the summer, for the three of us in a regular room. We usually stayed in a superior room but regular is OK, even if lamp at right side of the bed wasn’t working and the tap for the warmth of the water in the shower was half broken… Still, great welcome (again) by a very friendly staff, wonderful team at the Bar and the Brasserie during the evening. Friday night was buffet with music animation and Saturday was BBQ. So cool.
So, lovely location, smily staff and nice outdoor swimming. We go from Maffliers by car to Paris for cultural visits and shopping, and we are very happy to be back at Demeure de campagne to rest after the stress of Paris city.
Too bad the indoor swimming pool and spa was closed this time. Otherwise, our daughter really loves the place, watching the horses and playing ping-pong and “pétanque”. She is actually the one insisting for us to return :-). But ok, she doesn’t have to insist that much.
Nice, clean rooms on a large property outside of Paris. Very helpful staff. Feels like a resort getaway for locals. Restaurant onsite.
Friendly staff.
I was here just 1 night while working on the fair maison & objet. Very nice accommodation, cool pool, good bistro. Pretty good breakfast. I will book this hotel again when attending a fair here again.
All excellent food a bit small
We were there in a group of almost 20 for a birthday celebration and we had two very comfortable and enjoyable nights in an amazing relaxing environment.
The beds are amazing! Dinner at the Augustin was delicious. And the walk in the autumn forest with friends was most memorable.
Beautiful spot and hotel. We just regret the closure of the chateau.
Pleasant hotel but suffers from trying to be lots of things at once. Hotel, holiday gites, riding school, etc. The staff were pleasant and helpful if not very experienced. The restaurant concept was part self service, part served and not very relaxing or efficient. the food itself was OK. The room was comfortable and clean. They are still building and renovating (e.g. the pool) so worth a second try if en route.
Very peaceful location in the middle of a nice forest with huge and centennial trees, good food, innovative way to get served through bbq at Augustine, bikes, 1 hour from Paris and on top of that such lovely and friendly people to serve you! great experience!
Very tranquil place, I highly recommend it
The Chateau itself was beautiful. Great place to relax. Offers a French country experience. The sofa bed was not comfortable. Bedrooms are bit dated. Breakfast is delicious.
Nice hotel and restaurant. Room was smaller than expected, but overall a good place.
