It was a nice hotel. The staff was friendly.
Pros:

The room was comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was warm and the place was clean.

Cons:

I would have liked bananas at breakfast and clean towels everyday--not every other. And the hard boiled eggs were hard to peel. Some hotels serve them peeled.

Great stay to visit the national park
Pros:

We stayed here for two nights while visiting Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, and the hotel far exceeded our expectations. The online photos we saw of the room showed that the furnishings looked old, so we were pleasantly surprised that the hotel looked like it had been recently renovated including our room. The staff were also incredibly friendly and the breakfast was great. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

Great location if you're flying in
Pros:

We landed in Montrose late at night and to our dismay the car rental counter was closed. Although Hampton Inn boasts a shuttle, we set out on foot, in the dark, in the frigid air, thinking it was fairly close. It actually was close but almost impossible to see from the airport exit. We were greeted at the front desk by a delightful representative, checked in quickly and settled in to our room. The room was clean but seemed a bit dated, just not what we were used to at Hampton Inn properties. Breakfast the next day had several hot options but there wasn't anything fancy about it. On checkout we asked the desk rep about catching an early morning shuttle upon our return to the hotel later that week. She said that would not be a problem if we gave her a heads up. When we checked in again 4 days later, she remembered us and remembered our request! I was stunned and pleased. Our third floor room was quite a bit better than on the previous first floor room. Scale back your big city expectations and you will enjoy this property.

Pros:

Very nice hotel. On the exceptions the first floor had a mildew smell. The bed were hard as a rock.(my opinion anyway.) even though there were four small pillows per bed. I did not like the pillows.

Pros:

I regularly stay at Hampton Inns and have found the quality wildly inconsistent. Hampton Inn Montrose is either new or recently renovated. Everything is nice and fresh and the design is contemporary and pleasant. Hamptons always have free breakfast. The breakfast here was only average as Hampton breakfasts go with limited options and some watery OJ, but it was certainly fine for what it was.
