Buona la colazione con molte proposte e vista panoramica sulla città
Stanza comoda personale molto gentile servizi ottimi
Alcuni elementi dell'arredamento un po' rovinati
It was my birthday this week and staff had gone out of their way to leave some lovely birthday gestures in the room ahead of my arrival. Nice touch!
The location and the facilities
2 out of 3 lifts were broken
Breakfast was CHAOS with not enough staff and many things running out.
The bar was poorly stocked as well
Staff refused to provide a Vat receipt saying this was down to Booking.com to provide-so how about it Booking.com can I have a Vat receipt so I can claim back 20% of the cost or are you going to keep that money that is mine by right?
Fantastic hotel with very friendly and polite staff. Marco Pierre restaurant was superb for evening dinner as well as for breakfast. Panoramic 270 degree views from restaurant on top floor were stunning. Location was brilliant for the Registry Office where we attended a wedding and was also very close to the hoe and bars.
Unfortunately there were minor niggles:
1. Our 10th floor room facing the sea was absolutely huge, you could probably get 4 to 5 King size beds in. Why then do you have a tiny bathroom in the corner which is smaller than any cruise ship bathroom we have had. The door opens inwards against the toilet which then prevents you from moving from the shower to the hand basin until you fully close the door. Must have been a dodgy architect that designed this.
2. Very sparce room with no drawers for clothes such as shorts, tee shirts, underwear etc etc.
3. High fixed room safe which you can only properly access if you are over 6 foot tall. Asked at reception for a pair of steps or a step up but were told this was not possible due to health and safety. Could not use chair as was a swivel, coffee table was unsteady so resorted to dragging bedside cabinet over on last day to make sure we were not leaving anything in safe as we simply could not look into it, however when I jumped on top of this I banged my head on the ceiling so this was more of a health and safety issue caused directly by the hotels negligent location of the safe. As it happened, one of my credit cards was in the safe which we would have missed because we could not see off the ground.
Recently I made a business trip to Plymouth, often working away can be lonely and miserable. This trip was exactly that until I met Ilian, he is a bar tender who took time to cater to our needs. A polite professional, with a great work ethic of putting the customer first. The majority of staff are kind and full of enthusiasm, Ilian goes that extra mile. I’d like to thank all the staff, especially Ilian who is a credit to the Hotel and management.
Thank you Ilian
Breakfast good yet not hot. Room comfy, brilliant view, small shower room, few clothes hangers
Dinner on top floor very good. Great Views. Friendly service
Car Park lift out of action
Hotel was in a great location
Rooms was spacious
Lifts was slow and had long waits
Breakfast was bland
Bed was sloping and too soft. One bath towel and one hand towel for two people. Sofa bed seat kept sliding out.
We arrived and had specifically stated we wanted a room away from the lift and on a high floor - as we always do with the IHG Group - and is usually accommodated. This was ignored completely as our room was located right next to the lift and on the 3rd floor with a pathetic view of a brick wall. As well as that, the light and plug socket on one side of the bed didn’t work and we hadn’t been made aware of this. They also only accept a physical card payment which is ridiculous and needs to be changed because we hadn’t been told this before purchasing our drinks. The room is quite basic and only had a bed and a small table; Crowne Plaza? Must do better!! Shocking management and a lack of consideration for its customers.
Whilst the room was OK, the experience in the Marco Pierre White restaurant was quite the worst in over 50 years of my experience of hotels and restaurants all over the world.
After we arrived for an 8pm booking we were advised that the hotels systems were closing down at 9:30pm and that our bill would need to be settled by that time. This we agreed. Accordingly, the £500 bill arrived at 9:25pm before our main course had arrived! The restaurant manager was summoned when it became apparent that we would not be able to add any desserts, wine or digestifs by charging it to our room. When no acceptable answer was received, the duty manager was called in the expectation the the most senior person in the hotel could provide the guest service that any person would expect. How wrong we were! We were confronted by an incompetent 'Jobs worth' who merely spouted the corporate line that there was an audit in progress and all systems had closed down, there was nothing she could do about supplying us with further food and drink and charging it to our room. It seemed beyond her comprehension that the staff could write on paper ( remember those days) and pass the piece of paper to reception for the cost to be added to the room bill when systems were up and running in the morning. What about auditing their business continuity plan? What would they do in a power outage? Or a cyber attack? Have they forgotten or have they never known that there are manual procedures that can put in place temporarily so that the guest receives the best service possible. Crowne Plaza management ought to be ashamed that they have not trained their managers to have some common sense and that everything possible should be done for the guests. We left, appalled and disgusted. #crowneplazachaos, #auditorsrunhotels, # pathetichotelmanagement
