I can't believe this is the #2 hotel in Almaty. They aren't doing anything wrong per se though there were hiccups in the service but there are better options for sure. The location isn't great as you are a bit isolated (That's part of the appeal for some I know) There is almost nothing to walk to and only one direction is open to walk. Getting an Uber there also always takes a few extra minutes as they access the property. Breakfast wasn't as good as cheaper options in the city. Had to send eggs back a few times to be cooked properly and the overall spread isn't up to the price. The lobby has kind of smokey creepy vibes which doesn't make it a pleasant place to walk through and you have to walk all the way around to get to elevators. The whole property is clean and maintained but definitely dated in style.

Хороший отель,посещали его давно и решили остановиться снова.Чистые номера,вежливый персонал и хорошая еда,понравилось все! Вернемся сюда снова.

Cons:

С интернетом были небольшие проблемы,wi fi постоянно отключался,может из за погоды (был дождь),а может номер распологался в месте,где плохо ловил.

Excellent choice in Almaty
Pros:

This was the first luxury hotel in Almaty, and it is still among the best. Speedy check in. Excellent room. Great buffet breakfast. Spa a little aged. For me the personal highlight was the cigar bar. Highly recommended hotel.

This level of accountability is something I genuinely respect.
Pros:

A serious issue — but professionally resolved.

I stayed at Intercontinental Almaty By IHG and overall had a mixed, but ultimately positive experience.

There was a serious problem during my stay. Due to an unexpected flight delay and illness, I had to leave the airport and requested to return to the hotel where I had just checked out. Despite the circumstances, I was informed that I would need to pay for an additional night, which felt very disappointing given the situation.

However, what truly defines a hotel is not the absence of problems, but how they handle them.

After I escalated the issue and provided all supporting documents (receipts, bank transaction, call history), the hotel’s management and corporate office responded professionally. They acknowledged the situation, apologized, and issued a full refund.

This level of accountability is something I genuinely respect.

So while the initial experience did not meet the expectations of a 5-star hotel, the way it was ultimately handled shows that the brand does take responsibility when needed.

Final impression: not perfect, but trustworthy in the long run.

Pros:

Высший классс!!! Дорого, богато. завтрак супер, все что только можно придумать вплоть до игристого и красной икры :) Хамам правильный. СПА зона симпатичная. Фрукты в номер. молодцы. Спасибо!!!

Cons:

Ну, конечно, можно найти дешевле раза в два рядом и сервис будет вполне достаточный и СПА будет еще богаче. но таки не такой уровень:) Как житель Финляндии могу сказать, что в Финской сауне отеля отсутствует вентиляция и нет возможности поддавать воду. вот это большая ошибка. Сделайте хорошую вентиляцию. это не дорого, а впечатления будут совсем другие.
