Microtel Inn by Wyndham Charlotte/University Place

Hi,
When we arrived, there was someone bathing behind their car in the parking lot. Once inside, the décor appeared new, but the area was not clean. We went to the front desk, but there was only a sign that said “Be back in a minute.” After waiting about 20 minutes with no one returning, we decided to leave, grab something to eat, and find a different hotel.

I called the hotel today and spoke with the assistant manager, who was very kind and refunded the full amount.

My first room didn’t have a lock on the door other than the keyed one. Moving to the second room and it was filthy. I will not stay again. Actively trying to get a refund on that waste of a hotel stay. It does not look or feel how it was advertised

The hotel hallway smelled very bad. Room appeared clean, but very old. Did not feel safe here.

This place is a dumpster fire! It's so bad I drove 4 hrs home after an 11 pm concert than to stay here!

There were prostitutes in the area. The lobby smelt like cigarettes and these supposed to be no smoking on the property. It was a disgusting experience.

The bathroom sink had hardly any water coming out of it. The rugs in and around the room and hotel looked very old and filthy. The morning breakfast that was included consisted of just a few slices of bread and a few small muffins. The reception desk phone was not being answered on a regular basis. The only thing that was positive about this experience was that the staff was friendly and nice. Overall, much to my disappointment, I would not recommend this hotel. Microtel is not the same hotel company that it used to be. Very disappointing.

Air conditioner in room did not work and ants in room

I have never done this before but I checked in and checked immediately back out within 4 minutes. Entire place smells like a cigarette, the room was absolutely filthy with burn holes in the furniture, stains & pubic hair on the bed linens, the light switches were covered in grime, the ceiling above the shower was covered in mold, and someone left a surprise in the toilet that was not flushed. I was shocked and appalled at how bad it actually was. As a single female traveler, the people hanging outside and asleep in the lobby made me feel very uncomfortable as well. The front desk gal was very nice and apologetic and refunded me in full, certainly not her fault the place is in shambles, so my review has 3 stars for SERVICE only.

The property was well maintained

This property needs upgrading. Elevator sounds like it is going to tumble down. Smells like cigarettes inside the room. Needs to be removed from Expedia. I have a 3 day reservation, check out the following day but stayed at a friend house the day of check-in.

My check in process was extremely convenient and the room was pretty well kept. The only bad thing was the mattress in my room had a dip on the left side.

This place was section 8 to the max. You couldn’t tell who was running the place. Our room smelled of stale cigarettes smoke, had no smoke alarm just wires hanging out. The toilet seat was broken, the wall and rugs were stained and the whole place needed an update. The bed sounded like it was going to break. The continental breakfast was much of nothing no fruit. It was just a filthy place! I should get my money back! They key gets dropped in a can anyone could walk off with and no amenities in the room. I was so disappointed 😢

The lighting was awful and could hardly see. The mirror behind the bed looked dirty and the blanket runner had white stuff all over it. The bathroom light wouldnnt stay on and the shower rod looked like it was about to fall out the wall. It smelled like cigarettes smoke and the door got struck teying to open it.

THIS IS THE WORST HOTEL YOU CAN IMAGINE. THE FOLLOWING ARE SOME OF THE MAIN ISSUES:

TRASH IN THE HALLWAYS
CEREAL ON THE WALLS OF THE ELEVATOR (YES I SWEAR)

WE TRIED TO FIND OTHER ACCOMODATIONS BUT IT WAS TOO LATE IN THE DAY (GRADUATION WEEKEND) THE LOCK GOT FIXED. I ASKED FOR LYSOL WIPES SO I COULD CLEAN THE BATHROOM. THEY PROVIDED A CAN OF THEM BUT SAID THEY NEEDED THEM BACK WHEN I FINISHED. AT THIS POINT I WASNT CONCERNED ABOUT ANYTHING THEY WANTED SO WE WENT TO BED. THE CLERK ACTUALLY KNOCKED ON OUR DOOR DURING THE NIGHT ASKING FOR THE WIPES. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN BY THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT. YES THE COST WAS ONLY $140 PER NIGHT BUT WE AT LEAST EXPECTED CLEANLINESS AND WORKING EQUIPMENT.

first thing the room stunk, bath exhaust fan covered in dirt, bathroom sinkwaterran over conter, tv did not work,no smoke detector,no refridg in room,pillows were terrible, covers were spotty, had second floor room, person above was load and outside our room was loud in parking lot. never stay here again. NOT LIKE other wyndham hotels i stayed at.

The room was clean, but the rest of the property was not. Breakfast was cereal, but no bowls or milk ???

We could not stay because there was no elevator in service to get my sister and I to the second floor. We can not climb stairs. The stairs smelt like urine.

upon check in, they have a sign stating the elevators doesn't work! room smelled of smoke in a non-smoking property. Then I find roaches and report this to the front desk and she so disrespectfully says, "well this microtel ain't for everyone! rampant transient traffic along with the blatant prostitution that is ongoing on the property and the fact that this is the 3rd Wyndham property I've stayed at and it only gets worse by location!! DO NOT STAY HERE! YOU ARE SAFER SLEEPING IN YOUR CAR!
