Breakfast
The whole hotel was absolutely freezing. It was very uncomfortable.
Friendly staff
Jacuzzi and sauna out of use
The staff - nothing was too much trouble for them, bar staff, breakfast & cleaners
Rooms needed & corridors need updating
They cancelled my booking last minute coz a company booked the whole hotel so booking cancelled. Cheeky.
Cancelled our booking blast minute not happy at all
The staff were friendly and polite and I liked the open seating beyond the reception, which is light and a good place to meet with friends and colleagues and have refreshments. The breakfast room was rather dull but the breakfast itself was very good. Our room was relatively large and quiet as requested. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean.
I have been to many "Hotel and Spa" destinations around the world and this is below average in my experience in terms of the comfort expectations that the word "spa" implies. At check-in, you are asked to approve a refundable £40 deposit to cover any additional expenses, and that gives me a rather distasteful feeling from the start. During my one-night stay I got the feeling of a hotel trying to give a high level impression but on a low level budget. Our room was relatively spacious but the contents were a little tired.
Cold room insufficient duvet/blankets. Aggressive staff. Not good for vulnerable people. Noise horrific from builders. No apology.
We booked up a spa break, looking forward to the facilities, and when we arrived and went into the spa, there was no hot tub, and the sauna was broken. At no point were we made aware of this. It meant the steam room was too busy, all sat practically on each other laps as no where else to 'relax'. When we complained, we were told that the sauna had been broken for over 6 weeks, and the hot tub had been 'missing' since August! Why were we not told this upon booking, checking in or entering the spa?! Not the best start to a spa break!
Everything went well. Smooth registration, room was very comfortable (and quiet). Gym was impressively stocked with equipment. Breakfast was excellent.
No electric socket next to the bed. Had this issue in a number of other hotels so carry an extension cable so that I can plug in my CPAP and phone (which also acts as my alarm clock) , but it would be nice to not have to do this and avoid the trip hazard of a cable running across the floor.
