Not the best start to our short break
Pros:

Quiet room
Friendly bar/restaurant and gym staff
Pool area

Cons:

My friend arrived early and checked in first. She received a warm welcome from the Receptionist plus lots of hotel information, she was also offered a complimentary quarter bottle of prosecco (enough for 1 glass).
I arrived a little later but I didn't receive a welcome or hotel details from the receptionist, neither was I offered a complimentary drink. When my friend asked whether I could receive one the receptionist said no and that we we're supposed to share the quarter bottle! How mean is that, a quater bottle is equivalent to only one portion. It would have been better if we had both been offered a complimentary drink or nothing at all rather than favouring just one guest. Instead I bought a prosesso at the bar which was overpriced at £10 a glass. This was bad customer service and not the best start to our short break.

Unfortunately dinner was dissapointing too, I ordered pasta Carbonara which was very runny (watery creamy sauce) with chopped fatty bacon rather than lardons. My meal was served several minutes after my friends, which resulted in her eating alone for some time. The waitress did apologise however as it was a quiet night and there we're so few in the restaurant the cook should have ensured our meals we're ready at the same time. The chocolate brownies we're also rather dry 😞 Surely the chef can do better than this, pasta Carbonara is such a simple dish to cook and doesnt require much skill.

On a positive note the two lovely waitresses who served us we're incredibly friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Also the dark haired man who served us at the spa reception was very helpful too.

In brief - The hotel looks tired in places and requires some TLC. Reception staff should offer consistent customer service. The food needs reviewing for quality and more attention to detail should be applied.

Consistently Good
Pros:

We have stayed at this hotel on several occasions, and the one thing that has always remained consistent is the quality of their staff. They are always very friendly, courteous and helpful, and they are a real asset to the Hilton chain. The hotel is also well located and close to East Midlands airport, as well your not too far from Derby, especially the excellent Glen McArthur outlet complex. The hotel offers ample parking for less than £10 per day, and has a nice pool and gym. As for our room, this was spacious and clean, but did look a little dated, with the wooden furniture. However, we really like staying here, especially as they have a lovely spacious bar area, and offer a quality breakfast in a lovely setting.

Lunch with friends at Hilton EMA
Pros:

I have been to Hilton EMA many times. On 19th January 2026 I meet friends (former colleagues) there for coffee , lunch and catch up. It is a superb location, very well presented and convenient parking. The food and bar choices are great and the staff are lovely. A big shout out to Melissa in the cafe, bar, restaurant area. Melissa was efficient and professional but also very welcoming, very friendly and provided a lovely service to us.

Convenient, and as expected
Pros:

Cleanliness, friendly staff

Cons:

The bathroom was clean and functional, but a little dated. A heated bathroom mirror to prevent steaming would be helpful.

overall 2 star hotel experience only
Pros:

Breakfast they are preparing omlette, except that nothing else was good. the bread toast they served was deep fried in oil, and the varieties were very less, the standard like 2 star hotels. Food was not at all good

Cons:

They can improve the breakfast menu, and they need to work more on it
