Disappointing as it was not a cheap overnight stay , over £200 !

The hotel itself is lovely and convenient to Cardiff and the valleys .

Cons:

It was the hottest day of the year, "red alert " and there was no drinking glass or water available in the room, there was no aircon either and a small fan was left to use.

It was ok but we were charged to use the pool. We were overcharged for our meal which I had to follow up in the morning

It was well laid out. Good parking. Was pleased there was chargers for the car and it was easy to access the hotel

Cons:

There was a lot going on so it was very noisy and lots of noise by the room.
The room was very hot so it was difficult to sleep.

A disappointing, poor and expensive stay at Villiage Hotel Cardiff
Pros:

Not being made aware that for one night on a Sunday night we should have paid for parking. We had assumed that paying for a room in advance would include parking. We were horrified to receive a £60 fine as a result of parking at the hotel.
The self check- in was over complicated and even with the assistance of a member of staff on duty to help it was not easy. We added our car reg as requested on the tablet on the check - in desk in front of the on duty member of staff who did not mention that we should have paid £10 for parking outside in the car park. There was no mention on the tablet or check- in desk about paying for car parking. We tried to contact the hotel directly after receiving the fine but this was impossible. We went through the customer service desk located elsewhere in the U.K. who could not put us through to The Village Hotel in Cardiff.
An email address was provided and an email was duly sent on the 4th June to which we have had no response. We were given 14 days to pay the £60 and after that day the fine became £100. We were therefore forced to pay the £60.
At all the many hotels we have stayed in the U.K. we have never been charged for parking separately. To top it all our King Room was very noisy as it was located next to the stairwell. The breakfast was extremely poor.
As a result of our experiences, we are very unlikely to stay in any Village Hotel again and would advise others not to for the same reasons given above.
