Nice bed, nice pool, lovely spa staff, great breakfast, overall a nice experience
Sink in room was blocked so water took ages to drain, cold tap ran hot water, pool area slightly tatty and there was grit in the bottom of the jacuzzi.
- very clean and modern
- big comfy bed
- spacious room
- spa was decent and clean
- nice decor and vibe
- wall above shower head peeling off, shower quite slippery
Almost everything
Poor quality continental breakfast and very limited range of cereals/ breads etc
I had a lovely big luxurious bedroom it even had a fan for warm nights. The staff were pleasant and polite .
The spa was the perfect place to unwind after a long journey. The town centre and station are close by .
The meals were delicious and buffet breakfast was well stocked.
Great location. Close to train station. Comfortable stay.
Relaxing hotel . Good staff.
The spa was lovely, nice facilities
Paying for parking at the hotel. I thought the hotel should reimburse you for parking, really.
Unfortunately on the second day of our stay the hotplate at breakfast wasn't turned on or up enough so the hot food wasn't hot. But plenty of other healthier options to enjoy
There were a couple of very pleasant bar and wait staff.
Advertised as a Spa Hotel - but effectively it closes for entry at 6.30pm on Sundays. So my sole reason for booking here was gone. Nothing about this on booking.com.
The rooms/ corridors are very dated. Tired, broken toilet brush holders/ peeling doors/ carpets I didn’t want to walk on/ chemical smell like powdered cleaning?/ one hard uncomfy chair in a twin room/ seriously hard pillows/ bar areas with no cosy chairs or quiet nooks. Really impersonal. Very corporate looking and just dated. Expensive car parking - only place I’d been asked to pay - fair enough but then I had to go through the rigmarole of heading back to the carpark to find the QR code and enter my email twice and phone etc … charge me but why am I doing the work? Adding salt to the wounds quite frankly.
But the lack of clarity around the access to Spa was the real problem as I had driven c300 miles and wanted to ease my arthritic bones in a soak- no bath/ no spa… when I complained about this I was told I should’ve checked in the website and it was down to booking.com. The desk clerk was very efficient and smiley at batting back my concerns and offered no solution other than “you can get up early it opens at 7am”. So I did have a quick dip but it wasn’t what was sold to me. All in all the worst 4* hotel experience I’ve had, and a real disappointment on what was supposed to be a nice hotel at the end of a great touring holiday. In fact we were so glum we just had a sandwich and went to bed early! Sandwich was nice though. Breakfast was hilarious… the toaster challenge defeated several fellow guests who were just begging the ever-cheerful staff to get someone who knew how to work the machine and honestly it was ridiculous but funny that they had so many people and only one tired and temperamental toaster… and only sliced bread - in a city full of nice bakeries the bread choice was dismal.
SPA w cenie i na wysokim poziomie
Staff could not have been more friendly, competent and helpful. I have been to other hotels that offer spa and gym facilities - only to find these closed, inoperative or of very poor quality and size. So we were delighted to find that the spa at Winchester was exceptional - a similar specification to hotels 3-4 times the price - and were happy to spend much more time in there than we had originally planned because it was so calm, relaxing and the facilities were of such a high standard. Treatments were very reasonably priced - my wife had a whole body, deep muscle massage lasting 1 hour and she said afterwards it was the best she has ever experienced. She found the masseuse highly professional - not indulging in silly chit-chat as many do! We will visit the hotel again!
Parking was expensive but we assume the hotel has no control over this. However, there was lots of parking space and because we paid for 24 hours we made sure we stayed for this whole duration to get the most from it.
