Know the limits before you book
Pros:

While this hotel has a nice location on the creek near downtown Sedona and it is pretty to walk through, it has many limitations that guests should be aware of. It is on the side of a mountain, so you will be climbing a lot of stairs, and it is in a dark canyon. The hotel itself is quite old and although the rooms (at least the ones we were in) are newly remodeled, many are in old cottages and old two-story buildings where you have the privilege of listening to neighboring guests above and beside you. There is an exorbitant resort fee of 10% of your stay, which is purportedly to compensate employees and cover tips, along with a couple of meditation classes and a car service that I never saw anyone use. This is really just a way to add fees to an already expensive stay that should surely allow them to pay their employees without having to mandate tips. If the service is on point, those come naturally.

The spa is truly boutique in size & I encourage you to inquire about the actual amenities. It is a small, tired building that has been retrofitted to serve as a spa. Quite uncomfortable lounge space, minimal locker rooms - that truly feel like locker rooms-but the pool is nice.

If a luxury resort experience is what you are after, there are ‘Enchanting’ places nearby that better meet this expectation.

The Cliffs are a rip off.
Pros:

The Cliffs are a rip off. Not connected to the main campus unless you want to go down or up 150 steps. Transportation takes to loo long, even if you are going to the lobby, restaurant, fitness center, or the spa. I was unable to watch the UConn / Duke game for whatever reason.

FANTASTIC! BEST OF SEDONA!
Pros:

Spring break trip w kids (two 12 yo's); from the NE.

Outstanding resort with unique natural setting (wooded, shallow valley with creek running through) right off main street in uptown Sedona, steps to main restaurants and shops, yet quiet, secluded feeling. Getting from the creek side to uptown is approx 4-5 min walk, also a house car available.

Staff: very friendly, knowledgeable; young concierge from Boston was a standout - thoughtful, analytical, a pleasure to speak with.

Many room types:

-hotel rooms at the top of the valley, off main street, best views of red rocks, most convenient to uptown shopping/dining;

5 min down the steps:

-the lodge (where we stayed): in the valley, larger rooms w french doors, small balconies, views of woods, gym in building; small walk in closets

-cabins - dotted around the wooded valley, some creek side; 1-2 bedrooms w sitting rooms, 1-2 baths, kitchenettes

-5 bedroom house, creek side

Spa: in the valley with private pool

1/2 way down the valley is the main pool w bar, sun bathing deck, views of red rocks

Cress: creek side fine dining

89 Agave: owned by the hotel; excellent Mexican restaurant on main street, next to the hotel style rooms; can charge to your room

House car has free rides to within a few miles of the hotel; covers most restaurants, 6+ hikes.

parking: $35+ tax per night; prompt, friendly valet

PRO TIP: use Am Ex Fine Hotels & Resorts for $100 credit (food, spa, merch) and $45 per adult per day breakfast credit at Cress (many excellent options). Early noon check in, 4 pm late checkout

Hotel is part of Hilton Honors, but the included Hilton buffet is limited, Cress/AmEx much, much better

PROS: location, location, location; natural, wooded setting/creek, beautiful grounds; quick walk to uptown shopping/dining; fantastic staff - friendly, knowledgeable.

CONS: none, really; Cress fine dining dinner was limited for our tastes, but place was packed and waiters were top notch!

vs THE ENCHANTMENT RESORT: had lunch here while hiking one day; we far preferred L'Auberge - Enchantment seemed pricier, stuffy, more formal and was 30 minutes out of town - nothing close by (isolated to resort for food) and would have to plan going into town w driver/car/parking, unlike L'Auberge. The vibe at L'Auberge was more our speed - laid back luxury, unbeatable and unique location/decor/grounds.

Exceeded our expectations!
Pros:

A newly renovated cottage ON Oak Creek. We could see and hear the creek and enjoyed the ducks swimming around. Very clean and quiet, which is what we wanted. Cress, the restaurant on site, amazed us with it's good food and it is essentially open all day.

Pros:

Place and views are amazing. We only had issues with creekside dining. Both our breakfast and dinner had issues which made Both meals disappointing if though the creek itself is so beautiful.

The "RV + Turo" Strategy for Sedona & L'Auberge
Pros:

If you're traveling via RV as we did, the transition into the heart of Sedona can be a bit of a logistical puzzle. Our secret weapon? We parked our rig and used a peer-to-peer car-sharing app (Turo) to pick up a high-clearance SUV for the local exploration. Trying to navigate Oak Creek Canyon in an RV is a challenge, but having a nimble SUV with a panoramic sunroof for the descent was a total game-changer.

We stayed at L'Auberge de Sedona, which is incredibly pet-friendly. My Chihuahua was treated like royalty from the moment we arrived. The sound of the creek right outside the cabin is the perfect "reset" button after a few days on the road. If you're coming in with a large vehicle, definitely look into the "park and rent" strategy—it lets us actually enjoy the red rock views instead of worrying about clearance heights!

I do not recommend.
Pros:

Returning to Sedona after 15 years has been on my bucket list. Staying at a L’Auberge was also a bucket list. Unfortunately I was completely underwhelmed by both! Sedona has become a complete tourist trap, although the mountains remain majestic and a beautiful site! As for the L’ Auberge, save your money! Unless you stay Creekside, (which I may recommend if you do want to give it a try) the other cabins and rooms are located on a steep hillside overlooking the parking lot a d driveway…. You are welcomed with big delivery trucks and load noises in the morning! You also better be prepared to walk up and down ALOT of stairs! This property is Not handicap friendly at all! Ok and then finally the hotel front desk staff can be rude! I had several experiences but here is one example:: I tired several times to call the transport service to pick us up from town and no one answered the phone… for 20 minutes I let it ring. Finally I called the front desk and the gal who answered the phone insisted that they do not do on demand car service. She said I had to go to the bell hop station…. I repeated that I am not at the hotel I am in town and need a pickup, she angerly said they do not offer that service and to go to the bell hop station! Finally I said will you stop talking and listen to my question! She finally said ok, I’ll notify the car pick up. Never a sorry or anything for misunderstanding me.
In summary, there are likely nicer properties in Sedona for the price you pay stay at the L’ Auberge.

Great view, but next time will stay in the cabins.
Pros:

My husband and I came to Sedona, for a conference I was attending. We’d last stayed here 10 years ago. When booking the room, they showed a new “Eco-Rooms” that were advertised as 500 feet from the main lodge. What they don’t tell you is that 500 feet is vertical up 180 steps (yes we counted).
They’ve taken an old motel and renovated it. The rooms are comfortable. The hi-lights are the beautiful views of the red rocks, Illy espresso machines, very comfortable robe and slippers. The rooms are pretty small and decorated with furniture and fixtures for a $500-$600 a night room, not a $900 a night room. And not your typical L’Auberge property. After 3 days of taking the long trek to breakfast in the morning our lovely valet, Marlon, showed us the lounge in our building that had a coffee machine, and snacks! We had no idea this was in our building as we weren’t told at check-in. So I spent $60 a day in the restaurant each day and could have had the same breakfast for free. The coffee/cappuccino in the lounge was much better than in the restaurant. For 3 days we had un-drinkable coffee/cappuccino we were hopeful each day it would get better….. it didn’t. So breakfast you could skip, however dinner at Cress was great! I’d say the best meal we had in Sedona. The menu is creative, with very fresh meat and produce. The NY steak was awesome. Also, the bar was great. Patrick took good care of us and mixed a great “paper plane”. Also, Christian took great care of us at the pool and the carne asada tacos were good.
Overall we did have a nice stay. I’d suggest to stay in the lodges over the cliff rooms. Make reservations for all your meals. We saw so many people complaining at those poor hosts when they couldn’t get seated. I’m an AZ native and have visited Sedona many times, it’s still a small country town now with so many visitors that I understand it’s tough to get help. They could use more help in the restaurants and at the pool.

Bitter Disappointment.
Pros:

A bitterly disappointing experience for a place that represents itself as an exclusive luxury resort. We stayed at The Cliffs - newly opened rooms located at the top of the resort which is located in a canyon, maybe a hundred or so steps but a significant and steep descent/ascent whenever you want to access most of the resort's facilities including the restaurant which is at the bottom. Frankly The Cliffs rooms are little more than glorified motel rooms that feel distinctly second class and utterly disconnected to the rest of the resort; nothing invited us to partake in the life of the resort and we felt excluded due to being so far from its centre and the lack of communication with staff, and as a result enjoyed little of what the place has to offer.

Our arrival after a long drive set the tone for our stay. After driving through the admittedly inviting gates into the resort our hopes were high but upon reaching reception and being told that no food could be offered (it was 7.15 pm) and told we needed to turn around, leave the resort, and find a car park back up on the main street before encountering a valet who seemed surprised we expected help lifting our bags up a set of stairs to the room, our hearts sank. Little got better inside the room - newly decorated and with reasonable facilities, nevertheless the room has little character or warmth and could be anywhere. Given the lack of dining options that night we were forced to grab a cheap and rushed meal at a casual diner nearby before retiring.

We were woken early by the sound of delivery trucks unloading in the adjoining carpark. The rooms open directly onto this carpark with no attempt at screening. However, the view from the balcony in the morning, which is unquestionably stunning (but not unique to this resort), although the balcony furniture is cheap and uncomfortable, revived our spirits and we braved the descent into the canyon for breakfast. The service was, however, slow and chaotic. On returning to our room having failed to work out how or if we could use the limo service, that had not been explained properly when we checked in, to ferry us up and down the hill that night, we later walked down to the fine-dining restaurant which is far from perfect when dressed for dinner.

The fine-dining option offers outside and indoor seating. Outside looks great, located by the creek that runs through the resort, but if you are sat inside the restaurant the ambience of the place is underwhelming. The staff are ok, the food just about ok but hideously over-priced. The walk back up the hill did little to improve our mood, nor did the fact that while we were away a couple of RVs had parked up close to our room and were busy organising themselves for the night.

The next morning as well as the trucks again unloading early, we were greeted by a pool of vomit in the car park, near the public toilet that is also close to the rooms. Out of their control maybe, but whether it's their fault or not it seriously degrades the experience.

Our final interaction was with Agave 89 which is a decent casual dining restaurant located outside the resort but convenient for the Cliffs, although it is mildly chaotic and difficult to get a reservation at. Here, we were informed room service could be ordered from Agave 89 by one of the waiters; no-one had told us this and there is no menu in the room but it would have really helped on our first night.

We didn't try the spa or the new pool and bar, closer to The Cliffs, because frankly we didn't want to spend anymore money at the resort and in the case of the pool it was a little too cold to sunbathe.

In summary, the location of the Cliffs makes it hard to feel in anyway part of the resort and I think this is reflected, maybe subconsciously in some cases, in the slightly distant behaviour of the staff. You never see anyone other than maids at The Cliffs and there was no attempt at communication with us at any point during our stay not even a welcome note or quick call to ask if everything was ok. When we did interact with staff, they were fine just a little confused in some cases - we never figured out the limo service as we got conflicting advice.

This place advertises itself as an exclusive resort and maybe the lower levels are, but The Cliffs need a lot of work to make them feel properly part of the resort, and frankly at this stage to offer them at anything than a substantial discount to the rest of the resort is very poor.

Disappointing Visit
Pros:

I had been really looking forward to my spa day at Lauberge to celebrate my 40th birthday, but unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish.

When I booked my appointment, I clearly agreed to a 9:30 a.m. start time. However, I never received a confirmation email. On the morning of my appointment, I received a call at 9:00 a.m. telling me I was late. I was confused and explained that I had booked for 9:30, but the receptionist insisted there was no mistake and offered no solution. As a result, I was treated as if I were 30 minutes late to a 90-minute massage, which significantly cut into my service time.

Later, I found out the confirmation email had been sent to my mother (who had a separate booking), so the mix-up appears to have been on their end. Despite that, there was no effort to accommodate or correct the situation.

To make matters worse, at checkout we were charged incorrectly—my mother was billed for my services and I was billed for hers—adding more confusion and frustration.

The overall service quality did not meet expectations for a luxury spa. The massage room was uncomfortably cold, making it difficult to relax, and even the masseuse’s hands were cold. My mother experienced the same issue in the same room. Additionally, parts of the facial service were skipped entirely, despite being described as included.

Instead of feeling relaxed and celebrated on my birthday, I left feeling stressed and disappointed. It was not worth what I spent which was close to $1000.

I reached out afterward to give the spa an opportunity to address these issues, but I never received a response.

Given the reputation and pricing of this spa, I expected a much higher level of professionalism, communication, and overall experience. Unfortunately, this was far from it. Save some money and go to The Wilde Resort and Spa. Better prices and service.

Lovely Sedona getaway
Pros:

Overall the experience was very good. Housekeeping and valet staff went above and beyond. The property is odd in that it is split into the Cliffside rooms, which are almost street level with town and the rooms/cottages closer to the creek and spa. The one negative was that garbage bins in public spaces were not regularly emptied. The bin at the front desk was full at 6:30 in the morning. The front desk staff apologized, but it was an unsightly blemish on a nice stay.

Perfect location
Pros:

Perfect location with easy access to restaurants and shops. The views from the resort are breathtaking. The room locations vary between cozy cottages alongside a creek or perched high overlooking the property. I find it difficult to decide which is better.
We loved the smaller size of the hotel and the more personalized service. With the friendly nature of the staff, everything was easy and contributed to making our stay extremely relaxing.
Every aspect of service was outstanding from front desk, bar/restaurant, housekeeping and valet drivers.

Poor Customer Service & Spa Experience
Pros:

We enjoyed our room and view however the customer service was terrible. I started calling 1.5 weeks before our stay to book a spa treatment. I called several times with no call back. Then we we arrived, I messaged the front desk to see if they could help. They contact the spa and asked them to contact me. I did this 3 more times. Then finally walked down to the spa to be told they are fully booked but knew my name since I contacted them many times. It was a major disappointment since I came for a spa and wellness vacation.
